Welcome back. Today I'm using 3M's Headlight Restoration System to restore Porsche 996 Headlights. The process takes about a hour to both side. Thanks for watching

Hey Kevin, I recently used this kit as well on another vehicle. If you get the "advanced" kit, it will give a clear coat wipe that will really help. I did this on my LX470 as they were in pretty bad shape. They look crystal clear now!

I ended spending more time polishing them and they became really clear. I ended spending around 45 min on each headlight. If I have to do it again I’ll try the upgraded kit.

You must UV coat the plastic. The plastic yellows because the UV coating wore off (or was polished off previously).

I still have a few things planned for these lights another vid coming soon.. UV protection is a good idea

Kevin, have you explored any of the more "modern" Headlights or tail lights for the 996??
PS I know there are more than 50.00 :)

I’ve looked at them, who hasn’t if you got a 996. I would like to see them in person and I haven’t yet before I decide about those. I might put these in once I fix the harnesses. I got these when I purchased the car the previous owner picked them but didn’t do anything with them.

@@KevinsEuropeanGarage I too have looked at them, but given the costs, scared shitless to dive in without someone I trust giving me a thumbs up on which ones to buy. Sorry "Boston Kev" but you will be my Beta Tester on this. Let me know when you're ready to go play hockey on the
      pond :)

Lol yes they are expensive I would rather spend that money on an exhaust or a set of headers. That’s one of those last things things you do when you’ve run out of things to do.

I do like the smoked ones I’ve seen and that price is more reasonable than headlights

Are you going to clear-bra it?

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage

I might tint them yellow if anything at all. I need to get new harness for them or I need to do a complete rewire. All the coating on the wires is crumbling if move them slightly.
