  • Hi guys! This week's video is going to be a bit more personal, since I would like to tell you all a bit about myself and how I ended up doing what I do right now in life, which is being a transgender man studying Scandinavia Studies.
It all started with music. Interested in which artists I listen to at the moment? Watch until the end!

Here, here! 🤜⚡🤛 Fellow queer metalheads, unite! The intro to this video had me cackling like a witch, you've got great humor. Sorry your forest escapade did not yield any sightings of metal bands :^( perhaps next time you can leave leave offerings of mead and goats blood to lure them out of hiding...
And thank you for sharing this glimpse into your life and giving us more Dawid lore. ^_^ I, too, would look at those "long-haired metalhead viking cosplayers" before I actively knew I was trans and think to myself: "wow, I wish I ~were a man~ so I could look like THAT." It's fascinating how the genre of metal has this profound power to call unto and reach deeply to various parts of ourselves that may be lying dormant, and there's something equally as profound to be said about the bonds one forms among the pagan/viking/folk metal community.

You're right, I should have left an offer for the band members to find... I will remember next time 😆
I'm glad you enjoyed this one, and I have heard similar stories from the transfem side "I want to grow my hair out because I like metal" to "oh wait I'm actually a woman" Although there are some assholes in this whole community, I feel like the metal/viking/pagan scene is a great place to be yourself and get inspired by people you maybe wouldn't have seen otherwise!

🦈Hail! Happy pride month! A genderfluid femboy pop-metalhead here! I could use some additional labels, but I am not an alternative metal band trying to describe their style! (you know: industrial power blackened folk avant-garde stoner metal...). 🤣
I am starting to watch your videos; you have some interesting data about anthropologic matters and other stuff, and I have been interested on scandinavian culture recently.
I like the Korpiklaani's version of Levan Polka, and I had the luck of enjoying the Hatsune Miku's version before the song became a meme; I even listened the original song sung by native people. I started on metal after a pure pop stage, listening to Mägo de Oz and Nightwish, and Moonspell became my favorite band for many years. Eventually I recognized my liking of pop was never gone, and stopped complaining about popish metal bands like Satyricon and Epica, and simply let bands like Epica out of my list because they doesn't sound as I like. That sort of changes have made of me a better person, because I have lived the (slightly) dark side of the metalhead pride, and after my fanboy stage I learned that all music has its own value as cultural manifestation. The little ghost was under my identity all the time: I had a strong bond between metal and masculinity, and pop and feminity... after some years on my own matters, the LGBT matters became more part of the mainstream culture, and the trend of femboys inspired me into accept I have always have had a feminine nature too; she is not a pop girl however, but more like gothic/indie, and the stereotype links mentioned broken soon: she has simply a nature more balanced than mine: now I am the beauty and the beast, and I am happy with it. I wonder what is waiting for me in the future... but it's better to live one step at a time, and I can be happy with what I am right now. 🙂
Have a nice day, month and life!🤘😊🤘

@bregnevakker5404 woah! Such a cool story! I'm glad you were able to figure yourself out! I can imagine how hard it is to combine typically "masculine" and "feminine" interests, and indeed metal seems to be considered a more masculine thing, but there's lots of glam in it too, especially in the older rock/metal stuff or things like power metal.
It took me a while too to realize I don't HAVE to only listen to metal, even if I genuinely enjoyed it. There's nothing wrong with having mainstream musical interests like pop too, but unfortunately some people do not want to accept that 😅 (things are popular for a reason yk)
Mägo de Oz and Nightwish are cool bands too tho ! Thanks for sharing this, I hope you have a lovely day/week/month etc too❤️

Hi. I’m another queer metal fan. I have a huge metal playlist on my TH-cam channel, if you want to check it out. Also, I was wondering if you have any band recommendations.
