You are watching a Roadtec cold planer linked to the Trimble 3D robotic grade control system. This allows the machine to mill to a desired depth based on a surface design model loaded into the Trimble PCS 900 control box installed on the machine. The new vertical profile and horizontal location for the elevation of the area to be profiled is communicated via multiple Trimble robotic total stations set around the site. In this video the new elevations for the 4" below revised finished pavement elevations are achieved with accuracy and efficiency.
I was hoping you were going to see this video and am glad you did. You guys were impressive as was the milling machine. Thanks for taking the time to explain to me more about the milling machine and allowing me to record you guys. I tried to get back there a few days ago hoping to record an asphalt paver but I was too late, you guys were already finished. Let me know if you guys are working in the western or southwestern suburbs again so I can do some more recording. Take care and say thanks to some of the other guys at the site that I was talking to.

They are nice machines, not very common though. Don't see a lot of them.

@@anthonyholmes71 Not sure if your company deals with sweepers. But if so do you by chance know their salaries down there? I’m a sweeper operator for a road construction company in Illinois debating on making a move to Florida
@@pod543 We don't use sweepers, but I do see them working around Tallahassee. Sorry I don't know the pay grade though. There is a lot work in Florida, I'm sure if you make the move, you will be working in no time.

I think Finland is the only country in the EU that uses Gradalls. They look neat, but in this application, can they do more than a regular wheeled excavator or a wheel loader?
I like the Gradalls but they are not used a whole lot here either. I think a wheel loader or a excavator could have done the same work in this case.

Trying not to be negative. But a 700 in a parking lot is a wrong application. That bad ass machine should be going twice as fast.
That's not being negative, it just sharing your opinion. I'm not going to lie I would love to see this 700 milling outside the partking lot too.
I think it’s because it’s the only sized mill we have that’s compatible with that grade software system. But not positive
