In regards to Kill la Kill it isnt just like gekimation it is gekimation bluntly, Imaishi came into the industry on Kare Kano which itself had a Gekimation episode, it's philosophy of animation approach related to the always moving still or not mentality with tons of gekimation. Episode 19 was directed by one of Imaishis friends from college if I recall who'd work in the geki style prior. Imaishi also brought that style with him on Re: Cutie Honey and onwards
The title of the video is clever lol. I've always wanted to know what sort of receptions these past shows were getting when they first aired, so I'm glad to get some tidbits out of these discussions. It's also quite impressive some of you can even remember your experiences with them so vividly.
This is lovely. I watched more seasonals than I thought I did in 2013 and unfortunately I don't remember what happens in some of them that much. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to when the next constant barragement of Miss Monochrome takes over the internet.
Nice part 2 guys! Looking forward to the 2014 version! 😁 I'm a little sad there wasn't a bit more love for Patema Inverted & A Lull in the sea though 🙁 I agree parts of Patema aren't that well fleshed out. For example, the villain is a total generic straight off the shelf villain. But I do think the film itself is really imaginative & I loved the twists & the sci-fi explanation. It's easily in my Top 10 Anime Films! And yet again, I think A Lull in the Sea is a really unique show. The world design is unlike anything I've seen & the time-skip was a very bold move. I think I'm in the opposite camp from Roger & I think the show gets better after the time skip. The skip really throws a spanner in the works for all the characters, and it also turns the character of Miuna into a main character. In my opinion, she is the shows best character and actually my favourite character of 2013. Anyway, Sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining. I'm honestly not. I did really enjoy your video & I can't wait for your next one! 🙂

33:12 wow, i should've thought of playing that niotamina audio backwards. wonder whose idea it was to just put "back to marijauna" in their intro.
Probably those gosh darn hippies like Yuasa and Oshii's idea.

Four hours over two podcasts and nobody mentioned anime of the decade Da Capo III????
Not sure any of us have seen it
Not yet.
I will confirm that Myriad Colors Phantom World is indeed substantially worse than Beyond the Boundary.
Mumi genesis in criss core was tall man with red hair and only talked in quotes from a play called loveless.
