Great Guide. Left the game for a few months around the time Kitsuna? The Earth Ninja came out. (Edit- Kitone) Came back today on the tail end of FFT event and managed to get some good pulls. Agrias is one of my favorite units from one of my Favorite games. Managed to get her and now have to burn through the story to catch some gems for her shards. Already have Ramza and Orelandu from the first Tactics event. The 15 free 10 pulls that had built up gave me Gilgamesh, the Wind Double Gunner, Aileen and the Two headed dragon esper. Including the limited units I now have 5-Behemoth/ 0-Tonberry/ 3-Chocobo/ 3-Cactuar/2-Moogle. Love a lot of this game, yet the grind is truly on another scale.
Pretty much most of the non-Limited units I've gotten so far (thank you blessed free rolls), but then when Limited units started rolling in, I started sweating a bit because ehhhhhhh... I'm sorry Agrias I didn't maximize your potential. In all honesty I've made SO many mistakes since I first started playing the game but it really is a surprisingly f2p friendly-ish game. Looking forward to seeing more of your vids from now on uvu
i just came back right at the end of the FFT event and got Orland & Ramza got Orlandeu to nearly LB4 in 2 days haha love those Whisper shops dropping 10 shards at a time! but sucks he wont be LB5 next time though.... next time..... also from the free pulls got Rain, Kilfe, Kitone and whisper so was a nice welcome back! Really like your videos dude!
This list just made me so happy.i have 3 Behemoth units max lb and just unlocked another. I picked Rain as my tank to focus on. I basically returned to the game during FFT and stopped being f2p to get Cid. Now it's back to free currency only. I thought about maxing Ramza when he comes around again, but rain is almost max lb. Vinnera is just going to be a grind a long with xiza trying to get that tmr.
Glad I found this before I did too many dumb things. Most of the things that I have found were before June. I may or may not have made some bad investments... Thanks for your videos!
Just got Lu'Cía today, only had 2.7k vis and decided to do one YOLO pull for her, one pull one UR and it was finally her! I had 160 shards saved so I got her to lv55 in an instant, faming mats for her Awakening and her LB 3 and 4
As someone with neither Mediena nor Ayaka, I'd place Kilphe higher on the list as she can take on both roles. Sure, since they're both specialized, they do edge up ahead in their respective fields, but if I were to pull all 3 at once, I'd definitely prioritize Kilphe. (although they'd be following closely behind) And while I don't want to debate his spot on the list, (it's well-earned considering the circumstances), I'm inclined to point out that Gilgamesh is atleast worth the daily Hard Quest. True, it'd probably take 2 years, but you're bound to get a few dupes in that time and if you pick up a shard pack every other month, you won't even notice it the cost difference. By the time people are groaning over receiving their fourth Gilgamesh, you may have completed yours, for practically nothing. I got mine at launch and fast-tracked a bit, so he just hit 79; he's got about a year to go, but I don't regret it. Even at that level, he's one of my more valuable units. But would I recommend Gilgamesh if you don't already have him? Hell no. Even if you want Gilgamesh, don't pull on his banner.
Gilg is DEFINITELY worth the daily hard quest, and as the game has been out longer he will be higher up on the tiers (as it's more viable for F2P to level him up)
I have pulled 3 Giglamesh already. Doing his hard quest and I am almost at 240 shards without buying a single one. Once I get to 400 shards he will become viable. Hey half a year isn't too bad.
This is pretty accurate Just 1 thing Prolly u should move whisper to the far right side of the tier I'm a whisper user, and she's just impossible for f2ps to use 🤣 You have to get all the resistance cards maxed out to use her properly, otherwise, might as well just use mont
aside from omega tier TMR, Xiza is a god in live pvp and useful in raid (steal time, slash, pierce, she can do it all). Imo she should be priority for everyone. Im running a under 15$ account and she's my first ur to maxed. Farming unit like mediena dont need to be maxed. 89 is far more than sufficient. Competitive f2p should prioritize to max, first and foremost, Xiza, then whatever unit for raid. The rest of the game can be completed with those units. Arena is all abt customization and are easy to win. GvG is slightly trickier, but you should still be able to contribute as long as you got maxed unit with xiza's bell and specialize
I have Xiza maxed on my casual, and outside of Tower, she's been pretty underwhelming. I would agree though that if you're into live PvP, she can be a beast. Once they actually release a ladder and rankings for live PvP, she could get bumped up.
You should do videos more often, like news, future schedules, recommendations even if we do not follow them, etc. I do not want to pull for Agrias, no matter how many people say she is so kool. I will invest in Luasa when she comes up and eat the icecream out of Agrias! : )
Deffo pushing back on Kitone, drain force is an absolute tank killer and she's plenty survivable without +5 sage's hat and UR dodge cards. Best unit I accidentally invested in! I'd swap Med and Lucia for Fred and Miranda but great vid even if we don't agree 100
I have 3 behemoths at 99, 1 Tonberry and 1 Chocobo. Light spender. Working on 2 more Tonberry's and 1 more Chocobo unit. Also have Gilga and a level 79 Thancred waiting for the rerun to get to at least 89.
Robb should be Cactuar. He’s useful in Death Machine raid, future FFXIV raid, and that Wall Esper event when Cecil shows up. Especially his Oborozuki inflicts slow
I've been researching a LOT on Robb since this video and comments (I even have him as well!). There will be a lot to say about him in he Winter version of the tier list!
Good video and I agree with most points. However, I think Engelbert still deserves behemoth tier, especially from a f2p pov. His physically tankieness is insane, and very useful for the brutal quests, tower and arena. His attacks are unrated too. He actually does decent damage compared to other tanks.
It's only because tanks are a little less valuable than the start of the game and the magic/caster meta is about to hit HAWRD in PvP. Don't get me wrong, Engel is my top character, but I can attest that he's lost some luster since launch with so many other great units coming out and the changes to the hate mechanics.
I think Thancred doesn’t get enough credit, if you’re going to credit versatility i think he beats almost all the other limited units. I’ve been playing him since about day 5 and he’s been my greatest asset in almost every event, brutal quest, etc to date. Combine his above average slash AND pierce damage with support abilities to make him practically unkillable in almost any scenario, light element, and even a little chaining. He’s like a Swiss Army knife. HE EVEN HAS ESUNA.
@@NerdNight I have thancrad at 20 shards so basically nothing would it be possible to get him maxed out when his event reruns or it it's self would be difficult

I would say Kilphe deserves behemoth tier too! *edit* Ramza deserves to be in tonberry or behemoth tier too since he is so good with his skills, he can support, dps and even emergency heal and a tanky unit. Frederika should be chocobo tier imo.
I do have Ramza maxed on my other account, and he is indeed great. Again, limited units are probably all ranked lower here simply because of the planning/investment needed for F2P to max them out. Thank you for the kind words and watching!
Fredika in tonberry slot is oke just because her shards sells for 50 friend coins, and we can buy 5 a day. That would be 150 shards a month, and she had a special month featured shards too, i dont even have her, but i am already grabbing her shards in friend shops.
Great video man! I really like this kind of perspective and even maybe having followup vids for each tier to go more in depth to the units that entail that tier
So nice, Like this! Gilgamesh moogles 😃 I am about 100 shards to max Lb him... really, if you are f2p and are not in when a premium unit drops, the ordeal will be much heavier. Lu'cia is well built and well placed unit. how I wish got her; too many Mont and tanky units to keep in check!

Just going to throw this out there, because I came across it in another video. Xexa is very useful for new players who need a unit that will give them the ability to get through those pesky must do 2 charge missions. Pummel for the win. Put Xexa with Meriluke for physical 2 charge missions and Xexa with Little Leela for the elemental 2 charge missions. Alternatively, if you have a friend who has Xexa on their support group, you can use 2 Xexa for either mission, so long as she hasn't been ranked up too much. You have to keep her low skilled for the 8 and 10 ap missions otherwise she will just one shot the enemies.
Nice ranking names hehehe😁 Gilgamesh and Macherie are definite Moogles. However, Robbe should be Chocobo since he has one of the highest CRIT in game. Bang for your buck for F2P.
Robb is misplaced. He should be at Cactuar level simply for being a pierce/slash unit who does quite well in Raids with his Oborozuki. Also, the ice lance already came out.

I think Xiza should be rated higher because of her damage type versatility. She can deal striking, slashing, and piercing damage so she can be useful in future raids like the Double-Headed dragon one that's currently going on in JP.
Stumbled upon this video while trying to decide whether to download the game or not. I have a question. Are these units available (i.e guaranteed to get) for free for f2p players?
Rain needs to be on a higher tier considering the tower event for his sword will eventually come back anyway. God tier magic tank that can dish out some pretty good damage. Has good range too! And doesnt really require too much gear to be a good magic tank as his spr is stupid high already from his passives alone. And Gilgamesh if only he dint cost twice and isnt twice as rare he'd easily be Behemoth. The man's got Godlike master abilities. Stupid good aoe attacks with debuffs to go with it. His biggest flaw imo (not counting his costs) is his SS...it uses MAG stat and has pretty meh effect.
After the release of better fire units (Delita, Luasa, Xmas Macherie, etc.) and return of tower, Rain will DEFINITELY get bumped up, don't worry 😁 And yes, if Gilga weren't premium, definitely MUCH higher on the list!
"The whole cactuar caboodle." For the record, Gilgamesh is ridiculous to level. Somehow, I'm at lvl 89 (I'm not F2P, but I'm also not a "whale"). I call him a diva, because he's so high maintenance. lol Freddie is, indeed, a goddess, and Lu'Cia is, indeed, a kinky goddess. Vinera is everything! :P And, Gilgamesh is ridiculous to level. Good stuff, and I agree with the tier'ing. (Although, I'd argue Kitone can probably jump up a tier. But, she's in the "chocobo" tier, so it's all good. Chocobos!!!)
@@lancelance1513 Absolutely not! All of those ladies are solid and bring something different to a team's composition. You can get Medina without re- rolling: she's a reward for completing the bingo board/ "UR unit challenge"! ;)
@lance lance Cautionary Note: as you level up your characters, you’ll find that materials (mainly, Rainbow Vision Spheres & Rainbow Fragment of Thought) control how quickly you can actually develop a character. If you try to level all UR’s all at once, it will take much longer to get them to beneficial/ usable level (~79). Consider focusing on 1 or 2 at a time vs all at once. You probably pulled good MR’s and SR’s too - use them as place holders as you build your team. Always, have fun! 😉
I have a great number of units in this list which makes me happy as a very small minnow. BUT! I would like to ask Fred lovers, why!? I have her at A5LB4 and I cant bring myself to invest the Rainbow Thoughts on her. How do you build her? Whats her main function? I cant seem to make her work on my account that has Cid, Ramza, Lucia, Kilfe, Mediena; she just starts looking really underwhelming when put besides those units.
Fred is actually more of a support rather than a solid DPS. her great mobility and agility allows her to act quickly and outgun her oppponents. She is best when paired with other gunners such as Lucia, Viner (sub dual gunner) or Luasa. watch this video from cabbage. th-cam.com/video/lySois3EPqQ/w-d-xo.html This is video is intended to showcase Luasa, a fire element gunner but you can clearly see that fred was able to steal the show because of her great support.
To add on to what Fried Manok said...try running her at 97 faith to maximize the status effects on her gunner skills. A well-timed disable is HUGE in both PvP and PvE.
Ok thank you both. So i should change my mindset of making her a DPS and focus on making her a support unit. Thinking like that, yeah she starts becoming viable I think as a gunner buffer and enemy disabler.
That's great! If you can stack resistances, she can be an absolute BEAST especially for PvP where you can pick to fight slash teams (for example). With the right gear and cards she's VERY much a great unit.
Honestly I would have put ramza into tonberry group but see why he's in chocobo I mean buffer off tank and slight healing and not to mention that his limit can't miss, he can attack from range but his biggest downfall is that he is limited
@@NerdNight Thank you! II've bought all her skills and leveled the good ones to 11+. I'm a minnow and I use visiore only for FFT chars. Ramza (Shiva) and Orlandu (Odin) are my other 2, both at lvl 99. Lvl 79 Ayaka, 79 Mediena and 99 Mont are my other options. What do you think?
Nice tier, but Kilphe at least is a behemoth tier, having two SS rank on altema is no joke. For PvE she is not the best compared to f2p friendly mediena, but for other content that require tankyness, she shine.
I feel super lucky pulling Lucia, Vinera, Miranda, Yerma, & Kilfe. They'll be my main team to focus... am I missing a tank, or can Kilfe handle it? Anyone know if the FFT event will return? I'd round it out with Orlandeau, or get lucky again to pull Mediena.

Kilphe not top rank, when she isn't limited while she is so versatile that pve and pvp damage heal and be able to tank... damn bro, this alone make your ranking irrelevant. If you compare to all the mages together, only Mediana has more speed slightly more mag and wider LB which is a good things when farming in multi player mode. But the rest all go to Kilphe. She is just the best mage out there. Plus, I also believe Rain is a much better version of Miranda. He "Also" get access to Jamming Thrust heal and able to tank much better than Miranda. If the Crimson Saber is the issue here. I believe when the tower luanched, there were more people who have the Crimson Saber, but do not have Rain.
@@gavxmas The tower event will always come back. For the global sv. shouldn't be more than 2-3 months. Next time will be 30 floors with the final reward will be a ring for water units. however you can also get Crimson Saber there as well
Appreciate the comment. Rain WILL get bumped up in the next tier list, but currently there aren't great fire units (to chain/pair with his LB) and of course the Crimson Saber issue. No doubt a good investment, but F2P/casual may not have full access to his strengths at the moment. I stand by my ranking for Kiphe, but I'm doing a lot of research on her as well since she's very new 😁
Some comments: a levelled up vision card is more important than a fourth unit -Kilphe is the meta defining unit now -Rain is the BEST unit for raids even without his sword -Vinera needs to be built as an evade character , AND her tmr is kinda meh -Cid isn't godly anymore nor in pve nor in pvp -Kitone's tmr is top tier and the only one that can increase movement -Yerma is slower than sterne (and as fragile bar missile), with worse mobility and can't self sustain through drain force build (which might be challenging to set up as f2p) - fredericka is far too squishy and lacks both punch and support -Warrior of Light is not a "better Englebert" even if he's bulky and generates hate, as he can be built as bruiser and play similarly to Agrias
@@gavxmas Only "Free to play" i have Olde, Robb, Aileen, Macherie, forgot i do have sterne. I summoned Robb i think about 5 times and marcherie twice. I think my UR hit is about average but there is no variety at all. ALways the same units.
@@NeilNTR There's plenty to work with here! Robb is the best Crit build in the game, the Osafune event is still running so go get him a crit katana! He is also dodgy which synergises well with Oelde! Who also has Samurai sub and his TMR is aces, 15 dodge and an ability that boosts team max hp which brings us to Aileen who is the strongest Drain Force user in the game currently and for the next while for sure, maybe all the way till next year. It's a slow build so something like Phoebe's tme can help and the drain force build will help if you only have 1 spear between them. It's niche but with a bit of work I think it could be really viable given the element bonuses against some of the games favourites. I need help, I have a crush on Frederika as well and I’m using Lu’cia as well, I have Mediena and Vinera already, I have Kilphe and Miranda as well, I I want to have them on my party forever but Kilphe is being the one who almost doesn’t do anything (agility wise), since all other girls are pretty fast, I’m trying to build her as my Tanky- Magic Damage- Healer but compare with Miranda she is losing credit but Miranda can’t heal or revive as Kilphe so... I’m trying to build my party, any advice?
I build up Mancherie and her AI isn't that bad as a cleric/b.wizard, she heals when a unit is 75% hp low and do damage if they are good but I understand why she's there, Xiza deserves a little more than chocobo XD. and Miranda for me is the best support if she does Quicken over Mediena your opponent is pretty much dead in PVP XD
Xiza is better if you are into live PvP too, as her thief skills are ridiculous for manual control. I'm building Miranda right now and she's great! Thanks for watching!
@@NerdNight Xiza is definitely not the strongest, yet she can do work. Even not factoring her TMR she is likely still a Chocobo tier worthy unit. She isn't best at anything yet is capable of a lot of things. She deals decent damage and can stack the attack crit buff with her charge up, is quite fast, has ranged attacks , supportive skills, thief skills. She just is extremely flexible and can be quite useful in battle and seems to get somewhat underestimated. She seems to crit decently well with some investment as well. Just as Flexible as Ramza imo. Also as others have said Thancred is definitely underestimated. Used him as a friend unit back in the early days and knew I had to grind for him. He solo carried my early underdeveloped team through his event. May not be a top tank or damage dealer, yet he is an extremely durable and extremely solid damage dealer. Thanks for the list, itvwas extremely helpful returning to the game.
It depends how far along you are. You should get about 2k-3k visiore each week, so resetting can cost a lot of visiore/time. Personally I would start as soon as possible!
Should probably switch WoL and Agrias. Viktora is fine where she is, but she is never anywhere close to "the best physical DPS in the game", just a solid high but not top unit.

Can anyone explain me why Ayaka and Lu'cia's TMR are so OP? I actually have both at lvl 99 but I'm kinda dumb to understand the utility of TMR items in general.
You Moogled Rob and Gilgamesh??? I have both in two different accounts and they’re beasts! I’ve been playing 3 months they’re lvl 55-65 as a F2P. They’re soooo good. Gilgamesh especially. I use Soldier as sub and he wrecks faces. I so disagree with your Moogled section bro.
Gilga will move upwards as the game has been out longer. He's a GREAT unit, but a little less viable for F2P....also, don't worry, there will be a Robb discussion on the next tier list :D
Kinda confused why so many ppl disagree with gilgamesh in moogle?? Isnt that the title clearly said "FTP" tier list right?? Seeing him taking a lot of time to fully useable and how costly his shard compared to others really make him deserve moogle tier right?? This tier didnt mean to show the strongest unit in game right?? This tier list try to show the best unit to invest for FTP right??
In my opinion, it's fine raising Gilgamesh whether F2P or P2P. The only difference is how soon you raise him up high enough to "use" him. I personally don't agree with the tier list but I understand it's personal so the video itself is fine.

Frederika is Waifu. Miranda and Kilfe should be in the behemoth category. Kilfe has a higher magic damage potential than mediena, and a better PvP character.
most of it is agree able.... But then theres Kitone. shes basically the strongest unit on my team for any given content and shes only lv 89. More damage, survivability, and mobility then anyone else, and thats being that i have Mediena, Lucia, and Fredrika all maxed. (FTP)
You can also get shards in the Orbonne Monastery Chocobo Expedition, so make sure you are spamming your best 5 tickets per day with Orlandeau in the bonus spot! In addition, next week the Orlandeau/Ramza banners will launch, so you can pick up extra shards in the shops/whimsy. If you stay diligent, you should be able to get to LB5!
I would say no...I mean, any unit is good at 99, and Oldoa can wreck shop with a proper tank in the party to keep her safe. But she won't be carrying your account like Lu'Cia, Kilphe, Vinera, etc. I am currently collecting her shards through hard quests though!
@@NerdNight ok, I got it, thank u. I've started to play a couple of weeks ago and my current party is Glaciela, Ayaka, Viktora and there is two vacant positions. Actually, I'm investing in Glaciela. She is at max Awakening and missing 1 LB level. Among these other units, which one would u recommend to invest after Glaciela? Btw, I also have Lu'Cia, Yerma, Kitone, Miranda, Lasswell, Whisper, Sterne and, obviously, Oldoa. Sry 4 bad english, I'm not fluent.
Good? Yes. Great? Debatable. Many people are undervaluing him just because he was free and doesn't dominate PvP, but he's a very fine unit that can do a lot of things (I'd rank somewhere between Cactuar and Tonberry)
Because it's merely not enough time for F2P players to max Delita with the given time frame. Although Agrias and other time-limited characters shouldn't be on the list for the same reason.
I don't personally have her, but my bro does (shameless plug to Kiphe review vid 😁). If you have Trousseau, Ramuh, Plat Rod +5, and other high tier peripherals she can definitely perform like a Behemoth tier - no doubt about it!
@@NerdNight her AOE capabilities and kit can turnaround guild wars. No doubt the current map having a Mag up, we've seen her in situations where all her teammates died, and she was up against 1 v 2 with Cid and WoL. She Aoe killed Cid and tanked exchanged blows til she took wol out as well. You will never find a current unit who can turn around 2 v 1 situations. Unless you're talking about evade tanks and RNG blesses u non stop Her performance in PvE is subpar to Medina
One of our hosts, Chris, came out with some excellent suggestions for the F2P player to develop an extremely strong account in his 180 day account comparison video. Even if your current roster isn't as strong as you'd like it to be, there are definitely ways to salvage the account and turn it into a behemoth.

This list just made me so happy.i have 3 Behemoth units max lb and just unlocked another. I picked Rain as my tank to focus on. I basically returned to the game during FFT and stopped being f2p to get Cid. Now it's back to free currency only. I thought about maxing Ramza when he comes around again, but rain is almost max lb. Vinnera is just going to be a grind a long with xiza trying to get that tmr.
Glad I found this before I did too many dumb things. Most of the things that I have found were before June. I may or may not have made some bad investments... Thanks for your videos!

Just got Lu'Cía today, only had 2.7k vis and decided to do one YOLO pull for her, one pull one UR and it was finally her! I had 160 shards saved so I got her to lv55 in an instant, faming mats for her Awakening and her LB 3 and 4
As someone with neither Mediena nor Ayaka, I'd place Kilphe higher on the list as she can take on both roles. Sure, since they're both specialized, they do edge up ahead in their respective fields, but if I were to pull all 3 at once, I'd definitely prioritize Kilphe. (although they'd be following closely behind)
And while I don't want to debate his spot on the list, (it's well-earned considering the circumstances), I'm inclined to point out that Gilgamesh is atleast worth the daily Hard Quest. True, it'd probably take 2 years, but you're bound to get a few dupes in that time and if you pick up a shard pack every other month, you won't even notice it the cost difference. By the time people are groaning over receiving their fourth Gilgamesh, you may have completed yours, for practically nothing. I got mine at launch and fast-tracked a bit, so he just hit 79; he's got about a year to go, but I don't regret it. Even at that level, he's one of my more valuable units. But would I recommend Gilgamesh if you don't already have him? Hell no. Even if you want Gilgamesh, don't pull on his banner.
Gilg is DEFINITELY worth the daily hard quest, and as the game has been out longer he will be higher up on the tiers (as it's more viable for F2P to level him up)
I have pulled 3 Giglamesh already. Doing his hard quest and I am almost at 240 shards without buying a single one. Once I get to 400 shards he will become viable. Hey half a year isn't too bad.

aside from omega tier TMR, Xiza is a god in live pvp and useful in raid (steal time, slash, pierce, she can do it all). Imo she should be priority for everyone. Im running a under 15$ account and she's my first ur to maxed.
Farming unit like mediena dont need to be maxed. 89 is far more than sufficient.
Competitive f2p should prioritize to max, first and foremost, Xiza, then whatever unit for raid. The rest of the game can be completed with those units. Arena is all abt customization and are easy to win. GvG is slightly trickier, but you should still be able to contribute as long as you got maxed unit with xiza's bell and specialize
I have Xiza maxed on my casual, and outside of Tower, she's been pretty underwhelming. I would agree though that if you're into live PvP, she can be a beast. Once they actually release a ladder and rankings for live PvP, she could get bumped up.

Deffo pushing back on Kitone, drain force is an absolute tank killer and she's plenty survivable without +5 sage's hat and UR dodge cards. Best unit I accidentally invested in! I'd swap Med and Lucia for Fred and Miranda but great vid even if we don't agree 100

Working on 2 more Tonberry's and 1 more Chocobo unit. Also have Gilga and a level 79 Thancred waiting for the rerun to get to at least 89.
Robb should be Cactuar. He’s useful in Death Machine raid, future FFXIV raid, and that Wall Esper event when Cecil shows up. Especially his Oborozuki inflicts slow

I've been researching a LOT on Robb since this video and comments (I even have him as well!). There will be a lot to say about him in he Winter version of the tier list!
Good video and I agree with most points. However, I think Engelbert still deserves behemoth tier, especially from a f2p pov. His physically tankieness is insane, and very useful for the brutal quests, tower and arena. His attacks are unrated too. He actually does decent damage compared to other tanks.
It's only because tanks are a little less valuable than the start of the game and the magic/caster meta is about to hit HAWRD in PvP. Don't get me wrong, Engel is my top character, but I can attest that he's lost some luster since launch with so many other great units coming out and the changes to the hate mechanics.
I think Thancred doesn’t get enough credit, if you’re going to credit versatility i think he beats almost all the other limited units. I’ve been playing him since about day 5 and he’s been my greatest asset in almost every event, brutal quest, etc to date. Combine his above average slash AND pierce damage with support abilities to make him practically unkillable in almost any scenario, light element, and even a little chaining. He’s like a Swiss Army knife. HE EVEN HAS ESUNA.
I very much regret not picking him up (I followed bad advice at launch). Look for his ranking to jump up considerably when FF14 returns :)

Fredika in tonberry slot is oke just because her shards sells for 50 friend coins, and we can buy 5 a day. That would be 150 shards a month, and she had a special month featured shards too, i dont even have her, but i am already grabbing her shards in friend shops.

For F2P, during FFT2 event Gumi will give another free Gaffgarion and easily farmable shards from the quest event, definitely a good opportunity .

i have 2 behemoth, 4 tomberry, 2 chocobo and others that dont matter. Full f2p, RNGesus been good to me.
Just going to throw this out there, because I came across it in another video. Xexa is very useful for new players who need a unit that will give them the ability to get through those pesky must do 2 charge missions. Pummel for the win. Put Xexa with Meriluke for physical 2 charge missions and Xexa with Little Leela for the elemental 2 charge missions. Alternatively, if you have a friend who has Xexa on their support group, you can use 2 Xexa for either mission, so long as she hasn't been ranked up too much. You have to keep her low skilled for the 8 and 10 ap missions otherwise she will just one shot the enemies.

However, Robbe should be Chocobo since he has one of the highest CRIT in game. Bang for your buck for F2P.
Robb is misplaced. He should be at Cactuar level simply for being a pierce/slash unit who does quite well in Raids with his Oborozuki. Also, the ice lance already came out.

I think Xiza should be rated higher because of her damage type versatility. She can deal striking, slashing, and piercing damage so she can be useful in future raids like the Double-Headed dragon one that's currently going on in JP.
Just her TMR is worth raising her. She's good in many ways too.
I'm a F2P and I have the mascot Gilgamesh on LV89. He's good bruiser overall , just got lucky with my dupes pulls I guess.

Rain needs to be on a higher tier considering the tower event for his sword will eventually come back anyway. God tier magic tank that can dish out some pretty good damage. Has good range too! And doesnt really require too much gear to be a good magic tank as his spr is stupid high already from his passives alone. And Gilgamesh if only he dint cost twice and isnt twice as rare he'd easily be Behemoth. The man's got Godlike master abilities. Stupid good aoe attacks with debuffs to go with it. His biggest flaw imo (not counting his costs) is his SS...it uses MAG stat and has pretty meh effect.
How good is Rain as physical tank?
After the release of better fire units (Delita, Luasa, Xmas Macherie, etc.) and return of tower, Rain will DEFINITELY get bumped up, don't worry 😁 And yes, if Gilga weren't premium, definitely MUCH higher on the list!

"The whole cactuar caboodle." For the record, Gilgamesh is ridiculous to level. Somehow, I'm at lvl 89 (I'm not F2P, but I'm also not a "whale"). I call him a diva, because he's so high maintenance. lol Freddie is, indeed, a goddess, and Lu'Cia is, indeed, a kinky goddess. Vinera is everything! :P And, Gilgamesh is ridiculous to level.
Good stuff, and I agree with the tier'ing. (Although, I'd argue Kitone can probably jump up a tier. But, she's in the "chocobo" tier, so it's all good. Chocobos!!!)

@lance lance Cautionary Note: as you level up your characters, you’ll find that materials (mainly, Rainbow Vision Spheres & Rainbow Fragment of Thought) control how quickly you can actually develop a character. If you try to level all UR’s all at once, it will take much longer to get them to beneficial/ usable level (~79). Consider focusing on 1 or 2 at a time vs all at once. You probably pulled good MR’s and SR’s too - use them as place holders as you build your team.

I have a great number of units in this list which makes me happy as a very small minnow. BUT! I would like to ask Fred lovers, why!? I have her at A5LB4 and I cant bring myself to invest the Rainbow Thoughts on her. How do you build her? Whats her main function? I cant seem to make her work on my account that has Cid, Ramza, Lucia, Kilfe, Mediena; she just starts looking really underwhelming when put besides those units.
Fred is actually more of a support rather than a solid DPS. her great mobility and agility allows her to act quickly and outgun her oppponents. She is best when paired with other gunners such as Lucia, Viner (sub dual gunner) or Luasa. watch this video from cabbage.

This is video is intended to showcase Luasa, a fire element gunner but you can clearly see that fred was able to steal the show because of her great support.
To add on to what Fried Manok said...try running her at 97 faith to maximize the status effects on her gunner skills. A well-timed disable is HUGE in both PvP and PvE.
Ok thank you both. So i should change my mindset of making her a DPS and focus on making her a support unit. Thinking like that, yeah she starts becoming viable I think as a gunner buffer and enemy disabler.
I'm still building on whisper. Because I already have a siren and 2 visions cards that have slash resist.
That's great! If you can stack resistances, she can be an absolute BEAST especially for PvP where you can pick to fight slash teams (for example). With the right gear and cards she's VERY much a great unit.

Yes (provided you have JP for her abilities). Kind of depends on composition, but 79 Mediena is better than most 99 units in the game (even many URs!)

Nice tier, but Kilphe at least is a behemoth tier, having two SS rank on altema is no joke. For PvE she is not the best compared to f2p friendly mediena, but for other content that require tankyness, she shine.

Kilphe not top rank, when she isn't limited while she is so versatile that pve and pvp damage heal and be able to tank... damn bro, this alone make your ranking irrelevant. If you compare to all the mages together, only Mediana has more speed slightly more mag and wider LB which is a good things when farming in multi player mode. But the rest all go to Kilphe. She is just the best mage out there.
Plus, I also believe Rain is a much better version of Miranda. He "Also" get access to Jamming Thrust heal and able to tank much better than Miranda. If the Crimson Saber is the issue here. I believe when the tower luanched, there were more people who have the Crimson Saber, but do not have Rain.
But if you don't already have the saber you could not rec going after him to new players so I understand and agree with his placement here
@@gavxmas The tower event will always come back. For the global sv. shouldn't be more than 2-3 months. Next time will be 30 floors with the final reward will be a ring for water units. however you can also get Crimson Saber there as well

Appreciate the comment. Rain WILL get bumped up in the next tier list, but currently there aren't great fire units (to chain/pair with his LB) and of course the Crimson Saber issue. No doubt a good investment, but F2P/casual may not have full access to his strengths at the moment.

Some comments: a levelled up vision card is more important than a fourth unit -Kilphe is the meta defining unit now -Rain is the BEST unit for raids even without his sword -Vinera needs to be built as an evade character , AND her tmr is kinda meh -Cid isn't godly anymore nor in pve nor in pvp -Kitone's tmr is top tier and the only one that can increase movement -Yerma is slower than sterne (and as fragile bar missile), with worse mobility and can't self sustain through drain force build (which might be challenging to set up as f2p) - fredericka is far too squishy and lacks both punch and support -Warrior of Light is not a "better Englebert" even if he's bulky and generates hate, as he can be built as bruiser and play similarly to Agrias

@@gavxmas Only "Free to play" i have Olde, Robb, Aileen, Macherie, forgot i do have sterne. I summoned Robb i think about 5 times and marcherie twice. I think my UR hit is about average but there is no variety at all. ALways the same units.
@@NeilNTR There's plenty to work with here! Robb is the best Crit build in the game, the Osafune event is still running so go get him a crit katana! He is also dodgy which synergises well with Oelde! Who also has Samurai sub and his TMR is aces, 15 dodge and an ability that boosts team max hp which brings us to Aileen who is the strongest Drain Force user in the game currently and for the next while for sure, maybe all the way till next year. It's a slow build so something like Phoebe's tme can help and the drain force build will help if you only have 1 spear between them. It's niche but with a bit of work I think it could be really viable given the element bonuses against some of the games favourites. Just an example build

I need help, I have a crush on Frederika as well and I’m using Lu’cia as well, I have Mediena and Vinera already, I have Kilphe and Miranda as well, I I want to have them on my party forever but Kilphe is being the one who almost doesn’t do anything (agility wise), since all other girls are pretty fast, I’m trying to build her as my Tanky- Magic Damage- Healer but compare with Miranda she is losing credit but Miranda can’t heal or revive as Kilphe so... I’m trying to build my party, any advice?
I build up Mancherie and her AI isn't that bad as a cleric/b.wizard, she heals when a unit is 75% hp low and do damage if they are good but I understand why she's there, Xiza deserves a little more than chocobo XD. and Miranda for me is the best support if she does Quicken over Mediena your opponent is pretty much dead in PVP XD
Xiza is better if you are into live PvP too, as her thief skills are ridiculous for manual control. I'm building Miranda right now and she's great! Thanks for watching!
@@NerdNight Xiza is definitely not the strongest, yet she can do work. Even not factoring her TMR she is likely still a Chocobo tier worthy unit.
She isn't best at anything yet is capable of a lot of things. She deals decent damage and can stack the attack crit buff with her charge up, is quite fast, has ranged attacks , supportive skills, thief skills. She just is extremely flexible and can be quite useful in battle and seems to get somewhat underestimated.
She seems to crit decently well with some investment as well.
Just as Flexible as Ramza imo.
Also as others have said Thancred is definitely underestimated.
Used him as a friend unit back in the early days and knew I had to grind for him. He solo carried my early underdeveloped team through his event.
May not be a top tank or damage dealer, yet he is an extremely durable and extremely solid damage dealer.

It depends how far along you are. You should get about 2k-3k visiore each week, so resetting can cost a lot of visiore/time. Personally I would start as soon as possible!
Should probably switch WoL and Agrias. Viktora is fine where she is, but she is never anywhere close to "the best physical DPS in the game", just a solid high but not top unit.

Ildyra is probably right there at behemoth/tonberry tier. Probably slightly behind Halloween Leela (simply because Halloleela has Full-Life)

Ayaka's TMR isn't good and Lu'cia's TMR is good only viable for physical range units.

You Moogled Rob and Gilgamesh??? I have both in two different accounts and they’re beasts! I’ve been playing 3 months they’re lvl 55-65 as a F2P. They’re soooo good. Gilgamesh especially. I use Soldier as sub and he wrecks faces. I so disagree with your Moogled section bro.
Gilga will move upwards as the game has been out longer. He's a GREAT unit, but a little less viable for F2P....also, don't worry, there will be a Robb discussion on the next tier list :D

In my opinion, it's fine raising Gilgamesh whether F2P or P2P. The only difference is how soon you raise him up high enough to "use" him. I personally don't agree with the tier list but I understand it's personal so the video itself is fine.

Miranda and Kilfe should be in the behemoth category. Kilfe has a higher magic damage potential than mediena, and a better PvP character.

most of it is agree able.... But then theres Kitone. shes basically the strongest unit on my team for any given content and shes only lv 89. More damage, survivability, and mobility then anyone else, and thats being that i have Mediena, Lucia, and Fredrika all maxed. (FTP)
Any players who insist on being F2P, try stay away from time-limited characters unless you've saved up lots of visiores for a single event.
I hate I got a limit break 3 Orlandeu and the FF tactics event just brought back 40 extra shards for him... :(
You can also get shards in the Orbonne Monastery Chocobo Expedition, so make sure you are spamming your best 5 tickets per day with Orlandeau in the bonus spot! In addition, next week the Orlandeau/Ramza banners will launch, so you can pick up extra shards in the shops/whimsy. If you stay diligent, you should be able to get to LB5!
And what about oldoa for f2p? Is she good?
I would say no...I mean, any unit is good at 99, and Oldoa can wreck shop with a proper tank in the party to keep her safe. But she won't be carrying your account like Lu'Cia, Kilphe, Vinera, etc. I am currently collecting her shards through hard quests though!

How good is Oldoa? Having Yerma she seems quite irrelevant
Different playstyle, Oldoa's apron is a nice piece of gear to have.

Good? Yes. Great? Debatable. Many people are undervaluing him just because he was free and doesn't dominate PvP, but he's a very fine unit that can do a lot of things (I'd rank somewhere between Cactuar and Tonberry)

Because it's merely not enough time for F2P players to max Delita with the given time frame. Although Agrias and other time-limited characters shouldn't be on the list for the same reason.

Kilphe in tonberry but Medina/Lucia in Behemoth raises eyebrows .. content creator probably doesn't have Kilphe to drop this tier..
I don't personally have her, but my bro does (shameless plug to Kiphe review vid 😁). If you have Trousseau, Ramuh, Plat Rod +5, and other high tier peripherals she can definitely perform like a Behemoth tier - no doubt about it!
@@NerdNight her AOE capabilities and kit can turnaround guild wars. No doubt the current map having a Mag up, we've seen her in situations where all her teammates died, and she was up against 1 v 2 with Cid and WoL.
She Aoe killed Cid and tanked exchanged blows til she took wol out as well.
You will never find a current unit who can turn around 2 v 1 situations. Unless you're talking about evade tanks and RNG blesses u non stop
Her performance in PvE is subpar to Medina
She's also a non limited to be on a Cid level versatility. I can't see why she isn't in the top tier

I very much recommend collecting his one shard per day for hard quests, but I personally don't think the double-cost shards are worth it for F2P.
Just take your time getting him up. Although you won't use him until lv80 onwards.

One of our hosts, Chris, came out with some excellent suggestions for the F2P player to develop an extremely strong account in his 180 day account comparison video. Even if your current roster isn't as strong as you'd like it to be, there are definitely ways to salvage the account and turn it into a behemoth.
