      @@WoodWithD I’m very pleased with it. More importantly so is the recipient. If there is a way I’d send a picture. Love the little wood burned detail on the bottom. I used applewood so it’s an apple apple. Thanks.

    So, now is a bad time to see this video from years back. i just did my first apples and came accross this instructional video. I'm real impressed with you process to turn the bottom. Brilliant!

    I've just happened across your channel. I'm relatively new to wood turning. Used to watch my grandad do it 30 yrs ago. Just got my lathe set up. Only doing basic turning at the moment, hope I can get good enough to try this.
    Great video, very informative. I was given a turned apple as as trophy at a archery competition as a trophy, love to make myself one .

      As long as you have the right bit of wood to start with, no reason you can’t make an apple quite easily. There’s plenty of other inspirational videos with full instruction on my channel too!

    Lignum Vitae is one of If not THE hardest wood in the world. First time I've seen someone use it and It's so beautiful! Excellent job Sir! Couldn't agree more about learning to and keeping tools sharp before AND during using them.

      the olive green timber turned here is actually Argentine lignum, not genuine lignum. Richard has bought some genuine lignum from yours truly and made a fantastic job of turning it into a bowl laminated up with snakewood...

    @10:18,,. if you get a thin side and a thick side on your bowl ,,. you need to do the kiss test ,ie headstock center to tailstock center ,,. Regards Alf

      Hi Alf, thank you for your comment, my usual cause is my recess or tenon sometimes a little wrong angled or if the wood has cracks and the close slightly with the clamping or expanding. But fir this it works out just fine 👍😁

    8:54 another fact about Lignum Vitae wood.. It was once used as the bearing material for submarine propeller shafts, due to it's self lubricating properties.
