    I'd love to get the people that design these units in those spaces to actually come out and service one of those units😂😂😂

      Facts. Same here 😂 What a mess! Hopefully it doesn't come down to changing those motors along with the board but one day, those motors will give out and it will become a construction project. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

    The voltage jumping about on the yellow is probably right as it's a signal wire, you'd need an oscilloscope to look at what's going on with the signal wire/comms

    • @JumpermanTech
      @JumpermanTech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear what you're saying but it definitely wasn't good. Had to confirm with LG tech support. Tricky stuff. Might need to get a oscilloscope! 🔧⚡️

    You aren't really supposed to get a solid 12v reading from the signal wire through a multimeter, because the purpose of that wire is for the thermostat to communicate with the IDU and vice versa. It sends information through that wire by binary communication(0 volts - '0' byte, 12 volts - '1' byte) at fast speeds that a multimeter can not pick up but instead gives you a voltage in between because it's an average reading. Each time a command is sent from the thermostat or the main board, it will give you those "ranging" readings, and when it isn't sending a command, you will get 12v. The best way to read that signal is through an oscilloscope, which would display the signals being sent.

    • @JumpermanTech
      @JumpermanTech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear what you're saying. I know some communicating systems the DC voltages jump and that shows that it's communicating. The question is what should the range be. Tech support it's not supposed to drop out like that and be so low. They said I should have 12 volts DC on both signal and power. Tricky stuff. With no command, the steady 12vdc makes sense but still never even got that. Maybe an oscilloscope would be helpful to have. Never used one. Thank you for your input & for watching! 🔧⚡️

      @@JumpermanTech Hi, the voltage levels for logic binary "1" (high state) and "0" (low state) actually depend on the voltage supplied by a pull-up resistor (which limits the current), and that supply is "grounded" by a transistor (open collector). Usually below 30% is considered low, and above 70% is high. The values an ordinary multimeter display are not to be trusted too much, they are too slow (in this case the square signal is probably beyond 30kHz, and that voltmeter is, at most, 4000 counts), they average the measured signal, and if their input impedance is not high enough, they may afffect the circuit functionality (and show lower voltage values), one of those "el cheapo" handheld oscilloscopes may be useful for this kind of measurments.

    This video was great ! I’ve began to work on this citi multi units a bit more here in California. I’ve only came across Mitsubishi ones and they’ve all been a bit difficult and definitely a new experience of troubleshooting.

      Thank you! Inverter systems are very tricky and difficult. This is a heat pump heat recovery system. It can provide heating and cooling at the same time. Crazy stuff. Definitely something new. It will take time and experience to learn. Thanks for watching & stay tuned for new videos every week! 🔧⚡️

    This hotel did a shifty job on providing access for these units.. like I told you before at my hotel we use lg vrf except my in ceiling ducted cassettes use the touch screen thermostats but we have a very large access grate that drops down to where you can get to the entire unit.

    • @JumpermanTech
      @JumpermanTech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very true. I wish there was access like you have in your location. Eventually access will need to be addressed with this unit. Might need a construction contractor to make this one happen as I'm not exactly sure how this will be done. Tricky stuff. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

      Thank you! Glad you found this video interesting & informative. Tricky stuff. I will try to just replace the board and see what happens. If not, time for construction work to be done 😂 Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️

    Hey Jumper Man. Great video. I'm having the same issues on a unit. was it indeed the board?

  • @richardbartlett6932
    @richardbartlett6932 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Almost certainly its just the board. They usually say change the fan motors on the outdoor unit. But that's a Daikin thing tbf
    Saying change indoor fan motors is just a cover my ass diagnosis

    • @JumpermanTech
      @JumpermanTech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I hear you with that. Seemed strange but it's actually a thing for the indoor and outdoor units they said if the fan motors are tied to the main board. Hoping to just replace the board and get them back up & running🤞 Thank you for your input! 🔧⚡️

    I am really hating all the electronics in our field. When things were electromechanical we fixed things. We now have to be electrical engineering degrees.😂

      I'm with you on that! Totally agree. Just give me a regular thermostat! 😂 This thing was spinning me in circles. It's always a lot of pressure dealing with these types of systems. Thanks for watching brother! 🔧⚡️

    The solution is actually quite simple. Once it starts, it draws so much current that the voltage goes to zero. This causes it to turn off and no longer draw any power. It starts again. Etc

    2016 means 8 years old is near end of life with LG. They need to start planning replacing the equipment over the next few years before the repairs exceed replacement

    • @JumpermanTech
      @JumpermanTech  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The indoor units are actually dating back to 2012. Outdoor units were updated after many compressor failures back in 2017. Now it seems to be happening again. Always some sort of failure with LG with this location. I hear that! We are definitely getting there. Thanks for watching! 🔧⚡️
