    Your bubbly attitude when running is lovely to see. I did my first ever over 20km run two days ago and found myself smiling like a madman. Not quite to the"stick your tongue out" happy level, but I think I've well and truly caught the bug.

    I'm always amazed by your videos. Not just by how far you run, but by how the heck you manage to hold a camera out at arms length for so long and manage to capture your face pretty centrally in all of the footage. You're like a selfie-queen 😀

    I really love how honest you are about just not wanting to know the distance. I feel like I am having a distance mental block. I am marathon training again and its like I have done the training and distance before but some reason the last few weeks the long runs are just like what is happening? you want me to how far?! So I've started to lie to myself on the distance and break it up otherwise I can't get out!

    • @FloraBeverley
      @FloraBeverley  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think this is pretty common tbh! 🙈 you're not alone. I always give myself 'permission' to make up the miles in another run if I feel it's too much, but actually usually by the time I'm out for 2h, it might as well be 2.5 or 3 😅 you've got this!

    Flora! That was the most stressful video of yours ever, though I did wonder if you were going to have to call Fiann to come pick you up somewhere in Wales…or if you’d accidentally run into the river in the darkness….or that you were going to strangle a football person out of sheer hanger…this vlog truly had it all! 😂

    Good to see that your run in the dark had a happy ending and a terrific pace. It often feels faster when night running, which could just be fear or in your particular case a race to the fridge. Well deserved! Thanks for the tour Flora.

    Great video Flora, this has been the perfect motivation for my 10 mile run this morning! It's interesting to hear you mention the psychological effects of injury - I'm training for a 50 mile race on April 7th and am at that point where judging my body has become a challenge.

    What a run!! I'm so glad you found that little conservation path... loud busy graffiti covered roads are my idea of running hell! 😆 I always have a mini first aid kit, wind breaker, and TP crammed into the bottom of my vest, and add whatever I'll need for that run, but I think I'll add a lightweight headlamp too. I often run at dusk, and am so grateful to live in a part of the world where I'm more worried about a twisted ankle than violence. I'll check out that book! And you're closing in on 50k subscribers... I'm going to literally squeal and dance around my house when you hit it!! 😆

Wanting to know which training shoes you recommend for a newbie want to be Ultra person? And what kind of vest are you wearing, is it a water backpack of sorts? My goal is to have fun, enjoy the wilderness I'll be running/walking through and average between 10-11:45min/km, I guess given that pace I should be, hopefully make the 10 hour limit. Hi Flora, how far would you recommend running for max weekly miles just to be able to complete a 50k? Currently running 30-35 a week with 10 weeks to my potential race. I’m thinking I would peak at probably no more than 45 miles per week. Does that seem sufficient?

    • @FloraBeverley
      @FloraBeverley  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I usually think that peak regular mileage should be about the distance of the race, so 35 miles would be perfectly acceptable. All my 50k races I rarely surpassed 55km! Better to arrive injury free and fresh than on higher mileage but burned out. But if you can handle it, go for it! Just make sure the extra miles are super easy pace

    What time does it get dark there?? In the midst of winter here in Melbourne it might just be starting to get dark at the time you got home.

      In the north of England in the middle of winter the sun sets just before 4pm so not much later than that for the south

      @Emily S wow, that's a short day. Getting home from work, school, everything in the dark! Hope thats short lived for you.

      Yes very short days! Sunset is about 4.30pm now so a little longer but you don't really start to notice longer days until about March time

      @@kerricappy4890 its grim in winter but in my opinion worth it for the long summer days! Daylight from approx 4am til 10pm!

      Lots of food! And eating as much as I can on the run itself :)

    Perfect video and a run but please take very much care on that roadside; I don't see any sidewalk or such; cars driving top close, so dangereous.

      There's a 5ft wide pavement the whole way along, don't worry!

    Was literally concerned for your safety...Not running in the dark with no headlamp through unfamiliar routes. running alone past drunken football/soccer fans.

    • @FloraBeverley

      Don't worry too much, I know what I'm doing! Large groups of football fans are more an annoyance on a run than an actual threat 🙈
