@@keebscape for sure, seems like since the Zakus released and we’ve entered the Bsun/KTT/HMX etc. era, very few new 4mm travel switches have been released.
Feel like a lot of companies were struggling to not sound thin/quiet in 4mm variants for the longest time. It will sort of take someone cracking a composition code that helps with sound without pole bottom out.
@@livprimeI suspect that some of that is related to the 1.2mm flexcut PCB trend making many a decent switch sound underwhelming without some sort of foam. I think a 1.6mm PCB with no flexcuts can sound great with many 4 mm travel switches (including plenty of older switches) in a decent board. Perhaps the rise of flexcut PCBs has fed into the popularity of long pole switches.
@@ImOnMy116 definitely adds to it. I just think of all the 4mm jwk recolors for those few years or gat yellows that can be very quiet compared to something like a cherry black or a long pole switch. I was on a HUNT back then to find a switch that didn’t sound thin
Named after the popular dessert in Malaysia....Cendol.
no, cendol is from INDONESIA
All I can say is that if the market were to move back to there being more 4 mm travel (or close to) switches available, I’d be a very happy man!
@@ImOnMy116 I feel you on that! Long poles have become the overwhelming majority of new switch releases
