Wall Clock

- The other day our wall clock in the kitchen crashed to the floor after the self adhesive hook gave way after about fifteen years or so. Now it wasn't a great loss to be sure, after all we got about fifteen years of use out of it , all for about ten bucks! I wanted to go out and get another ten buck special but my wife had other ideas.......................................
I had a small piece of American Walnut burl in the little shed, it has been sitting there for years and after measuring, I could just squeeze a 300mm circle out of it. The details are aluminium and the clock mechanism was from ebay. The arms came with the mechanism and were heavily modified

Attila, The work you produce is amazing. Your videos are so well recorded, edited and presented it's a tranquil experience to watch. Thank You
Glad you like my videos and very happy to provide a calming experience:)
Another piece of sculpture that shows your incredible craftsmanship. The video was great too! I especially loved the sounds of the birds outside your workshop in the beginning. It reminded me that it’s coming into summer where you are, not winter like us (getting 40” (100 cm) of snow this past week!) I hope you have a great holiday season there, and that your finger continues healing up well!
Yes it's finally getting warmer and I have to apologize for the finger, I tried to cover it in the video but forgot about it many times (didn't want to gross anyone out), those Japanese knives are very sharp indeed, nine stitches!
I just wanted to say that it is a real pleasure to watch you build your designs. One can almost feel the satisfaction you derive from finishing your creations. Well done.
Awesome, thank you:)
Thank you. Glad you enjoy the videos:)
An individual has accomplished something truly meaningful in his or her life when their pursuits and creations are never "just good enough or mediocre". The creativity and skill in your mind and hands is clearly evident in your creations and are far from just mediocre. The "Force" is with you. Kudos & Peace
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy my work and videos;)
great job, very stylish look. natural materials look better than mountains of soulless plastic)
Thank you. My thoughts as well:)
I love your videos, and would love to see a full in depth shop tour!
Cool, well I have some upcoming shop related projects but when they are done I may just do a shop tour;)
Gorgeous piece of work. You make wood and aluminium dance together. Thanks for your posts they give me inspiration.
Thanks:)
Each video is informative and interesting and shot at a high level!
Thanks:)
Kosonom:)
Kedves Attila! Nagyon szép mindegyik munkád. Gratulálok!
Kosonom:)
Very cool design!
I love the look of the 4 claws that wrap around the wood
Thanks, glad you like it.
Thank you, that was a nice christmas present from your channel.
Thanks and merry Christmas:)
beautiful work, very satisfying to watch... thanks!
Thank you too:)
Excellent as always.
Thank you.
Stunning piece
Thanks:)
I can't make up my mind whether it is mid-century modern or cutting edge 21st century (12202020 🎇). Perhaps it's Just Timeless and Classy. Outstanding build, Thank You!!
Please, not the phrase 'mid century modern' lol.
@@AttilasWorkshop 🤐
Lovely clock. Have a nice Christmas and safe and Happy New Year!
Thanks Judit, and a merry Christmas to you too:)
EXCELLENT! Great take on a classic mid-century design - my old physiotherapist had an almost identical clock; the accents on hers were done in ivory (or fake ivory). I always wanted to make one, but don’t have a lathe (maybe next year).
Well there you go and I thought the design for my clock came straight out of my head lol. Thanks.
that is one beautiful clock!
Thanks.
Incredible
:)
Very nice job, thanks for sharing!
Thank you too:)
Merci:)
Nagyon szép lett, gratulálok!

Awesome work as always! Great video
Thank you:)
Ciao hai fatto una realizzazione veramente bella e particolare legno alluminio complimenti 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Grazie:)
Great job! Happy New Year!
Thanks! You too!
Nice clock
Thanks.
Magnificent work luv to learn from yourself
Thanks, glad you like my work:)
He has the ability to see the completed clock before he finishes making the clock as if it's real before it actually is.
Well, yes. That's how you design things, first in the mind.
Now that is a pretty clock!
Cool:)
Amazing work.❤👍
Thank you:)
another fantastic video. best video work on youtube by a single guy.
Wow, too kind but I'm glad you enjoy the videos:)
Oh sure, big deal. Making a wall clock. I could easily do this if I had your talent. Love your videos, I was always good with metal and horrible with wood. Love how you are good with both mediums.
Thank you. When my wife suggested that a clock could be my next project I immediately laughed it off, but after some reflection I thought, just because it's simple doesn't mean it's not worthwhile putting my own spin on it. Speaking of simple my next project will have just three parts and be ridiculously simple;)
Como siempre, maravilloso. Enhorabuena.
Gracias:)
Titizlikle iş yapan ender insanlardansın üstad, eline sağlık 👏🏻
teşekkür ederim:)
No time can kill this clock_:)) Great job
thanks:)
Felicitaciones a tu excelente trabajo.
New atilla's workshop video - like before the video started ;D
Haha, thanks for the confidence:)
Looks amazing! Where did you get the movement? I haven’t been able to find a wall clock movement with a sweeping seconds hand.
Thanks. ebay has many different types but Ali express also has a great range. I bought mine off ebay here in Australia.
@@AttilasWorkshop Then that’s where I’ll start. Thank you for getting back to me and merry Christmas.
I hope that you routed a keyhole slot in the back of the clock and used a screw into a wall stud to mount this beautiful piece, LOL!!
Haha, yes I've mounted this clock very securely just as you suggest;)
stylish, brutal watch
Thanks.
Doucette & Wolfe, the grand tour and Attila all in the same week. 2020 just got better
Thanks but I 've given up on 2020. Next year lol:)
Thank you:)
What animal do you have in the background? Now to your work... AMAZING JOB!
I take it you mean my newish metal lathe? It's an Opti 2506V. I bought it so that if I need something like a spacer or bush or pulley I can just make it. Thanks:)
Awesome work!! (please do not use gloves close the band saw)
Thanks:)
you have a stupendous eye for design. however, something wasnt quite right... perhaps the wood not being that peculiar species from WA lol
Yes, I was just about to say 'it's the first time using walnut' but then I remembered a jaguar dashboard that I restored in the early nineties. That was walnut veneer.
Do you use any kind of top coat on your aluminum to keep it from getting scratched?
No.
👍
😎
Homemade bandsaw sled or aftermarket?
You can watch it being made on my channel.
With so much hand filing and finishing, its almost like a Clickspring video.
No, it's a meditative video.
@@leobrynn4171 potato/patahto
In terms of hand work, maybe, but nothing I do is as accurate as the work that I've seen on Clickspring. Thanks:)
Why did you have to give me another channel to binge?
@@horseshoemountainprojects8144 He's worth binging.

The video before this one shows a new set of Japanese knives. They are really sharp!

what is your experience with selling works you post on this channel?
I haven't sold anything yet but I do think about it often. The problem is time, and the fact that I am always looking for something new to make.
@@AttilasWorkshop Do you think a website would connect you to potential clients?
I want to know how the market reacts to pieces of work made with such profound approach.
Well I'm unsure about this because most of my projects would need further development to make them suitable for the market.
Very nice work, as allways. But I can't stress this enough: NEVER work with gloves on rotating machines (bandsaw included). This is one of the most dangerous things you can do in a workshop. Please take this advice seriously. Instead of getting a little cut in the hand, a saw will grab the glove and pull your hole hand into the blade, same with drills and stuff.
Thanks. I need to wear gloves when cutting small metal parts on the bandsaw otherwise I can't hold them, the parts get too hot. Same with polishing and disc sanding. In the video I wear an oversize glove on my left hand while using the wood lathe because I just recently had an operation on my left hand and the bandage would not fit into my usual tight gloves. However I generally agree with you and only use gloves when I have to.
Would you consider cross-posting to either Odysee or Rumble? I really enjoy your content but I can no longer support TH-cam and I don't want to miss your next project! Thank you for considering!
I haven't heard of those places but tell me more. Why don't you like TH-cam? I'll check out those sites.
@@AttilasWorkshop With all the censorship of any political dissent from what YT considers "correct political speech" is very troubling.
