This is exactly what I was looking for TEX-MEX CARNE GUISADA. It took a while before finding this perfect recipe. My aunt makes it the same. I'm Texan and can't wait to make this.
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve struggled for years trying to make this then I found your channel. I made this and served it to my husband and he loves it!! Thank you so much!! Please don’t stop making videos ♥️
Great stuff I always love to see other peoples recipes. Yours was straightforward easy to follow, but the best part of it is it looks delicious way to go😊
I just made the guisada and OMG!!! First time making it and it came out perfect! And yes this was the easiest recipe to use! Thank you so much for sharing it!
OMG, I’ve made this and my sister has made this...delicious!!! And I’ll continue to make this, definitely a staple in my house! TY Laura...you’re the best 🙌🏼
Outstanding! Don’t forget the tortilla dipping ritual! I can’t help but dip tortillas in the guisada while it’s cooking. It’s so good. Learn to make guisada and you can make it wherever you live! I always start by dredging the meat in seasoned flour and then searing it. This is lovely! What a great cook!
Bless your heart, i have made this three times once with rice and beans, next in flour tortilla tacos and i used this exact recipe for the filling of my Chimichangas .... Best ever carne guisada
paka calimlim I found a place in Whittier CA called Arturo’s Puffy Tacos who is a cousin of Ray’s Drive In in San Antonio and they have Carne Guisada and it was good like back home here in Texas. I am from Lubbock and miss it as I live in Fort Worth now and no one has it that’s good or don’t have it at all. Have to drive to Waco to Fuego’s to get it..!!!!
Yep, they don’t even listen when you ask “do you serve carne guisada?” They immediately say “yes, we have carne asada.” Usually outside of south Texas nobody has a clue. They’re missing something really delicious.
No one in Alabama knows what I’m talking about when I ask for Carne Guisada either! I love this recipe! It’s cold here today & it’s my go to recipe on days like today. Not only does it taste incredible it warms the house up & makes it cozy!
thank you for this! it looks really delicious! I know people have different ways to cook carne guisada, but yours looks easy to follow. The hardest part for me was always making sure the meat was tender. I like the way you have your cooking/preparing are so clean! that's how I like to cook and bake...
Hi!!! Totally made this with some homemade beans and my husband absolutely loved it! The rue did not turn out like yours but I used flour instead. (Still delicious) I made some cheese enchiladas along with it using the gravy, he swears we will never go out to eat again now!
Hello Carne Guisada, yay!! My favorite tacos were made at a family owned grocery across the street from Exxon facilities in Baytown. They made these incredible spicey potatoes that I would ask to have added to my taco, that thing was huge, but oh my gosh, it was incredible flavor! I wish I could replicate those potatoes, because this carne, looks just like theirs. Thank you for this recipe, I plan to make it this week. All the rain we’ve had, along with being on lockdown due to corona, such perfect timing!!!
Virtual kitchen with Laura Hello Miss Laura, thank you for your kind reply! They have a red color or tint, with spicy 🌶 peppers and I believe onions cooked with. So delicious! So, I would ask for the guisada, a nice smear of refried beans, those wonderful potatoes, and some cheese, oh my goodness what a fantastic meal right there! Makes my mouth water just describing this, lol!
Yummy!! I love the looks of that carne guisada. I believe that would go very good with fresh flour tortillas. I'll have to try your receipe. You always cook some yummy plates for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Your guisadas are the bomb.com. Love this recipe too. Yesterday I made guisada con papas and husband loved it. Next week will be this recipe. Thank you for sharing! 😊
Im trying out your recipe as I type this. I’ve never made carne guisada. And I’ve always wished I had family recipes like this to go by. I’ll start the tradition!
What size is your skillet? May I also ask where you purchased it? I have a family of 6 and I am always saying I need bigger pots and pans. Thank you for this recipe. I will be making it tomorrow!
Hi Laura! Can’t wait to try this, looks incredible. I’m in Maryland originally from San Antonio and this reminds me of home so much. Question for you- i normally add a corn starch slurry to any dish I need to thicken up. I don’t do rouxs, seems like a lot of work. Is there a difference in thickening carne guisada with a roux rather than a corn starch slurry? Thank you!
Hello Andrea, I have used the corn starch and I really can’t tell the difference in taste. Just in the color. The roux one is a bit darker. Thank you for watching.
Hi Laura, I’ve noticed I’m not receiving your replies and comments. I have a question this morning my flour tortillas came out very tough and rubbery. The only thing I did differently was that I let the dough rest for about 4 hours maybe that did it. I don’t know.
After the meat is cool, scoop it into Freezer bags, place onto a cookie sheet in the freezer so that they can lay flat. (makes for better storage). When ready to use, just place in the frig overnight to thaw. Then reheat, ready t use. Hope that makes sense?
I have never seen celery in carne Gusada must be a up north thing . It looked good but took way to much time to make . I am from Deep South tx this is a great meal to cook . When you put celery in it you ruined it , Sorry
You are the only trash here buddy. This I know is great. It's as close to simple as it gets which is what even traditional Mexican food can appreciate. Don't be a keyboard warrior.

I'm a gringo who married a Hispanic man and he's so happy that I can make him some Tex Mex Carne Guisada. (We're from San Antonio.) Thank you so much!

I know what you mean. Nothing better than Carne Guisada.

Mouth watering
Where did you get the little sat holder
Hi Laura! When you put the stew meat in the skillet did you add some oil first? Looks like your pan was dry.
Looks amazing! I can't wait to try it. Do you also have a recipe for your rice?
Pamela Williams Yes it’s on my Savory list. Thank you for watching.
I will be cooking this for christmas this year. We all voted NO traditional food thank you for sharing.
Good choice Rachel, I love this dish.
The secrect is in the rue! It makes the dish!
Guess what I'm having for breakfast this weekend?👍
I would like to print this recipe out but can't find it anywhere on your page for an option. Do you have it posted anywhere?
Hello Dani, No I do not have it down. This recipe was when I first started. Sorry.
Apio? Yum
What kind of meat did she use?
👍✋
Come on now ,Where are the tortillas!!!!
In the other video Nancy. LOL thanks for watching.
It was a hit! Thank you so much bought me another year of marriage....lol
You prefer flour over cornstarch ?
Terri Kanak yes I do, the cornstarch gives it a jelly like texture that I personally do not like.
Shouldn’t you have cooked the meat in at least 3 batches on high heat? Where is your Chile??
That is not necessary for this recipe, unless you just want to do that. Thanks for watching.
I would let the spices fry
where is the recipe written
You dont add potatoes?
You can if you want to, I have another recipe with potatoes on my channel.
In the video with the papas, you use oil, but not on this one. Is there a reason why?
When u said u can freeze it how do u go about that and when u are ready to use again what should I do??
After the meat is cool, scoop it into Freezer bags, place onto a cookie sheet in the freezer so that they can lay flat. (makes for better storage). When ready to use, just place in the frig overnight to thaw. Then reheat, ready t use. Hope that makes sense?
Virtual kitchen with Laura thank u it came out sooooooo good
Very glad to hear that. Thank you for watching.
There is no sear on that meat....
I can't hear you.
Were you adopted by any chance. There’s another TH-cam that looks like your twin. Movements as well
No I was not. What is their Channel name, so I can go take a look.
That sure was not a tsp and a half of salt 😂
In the written recipe it gives you the exact amounts Jesse.
Hahahaha, is it not México que les pasas aquí puroas tacos y gorditas
I am not sure what you are trying to say.
Thats no "karne asada" tacos!, First than nothing you need really tortillas
draco garcia it’s not a video for Carne asada, it’s Carne Guisada. And yes tortillas go great with this dish. Thanks for watching.
Tex mex?? Ridiculous it’s Mexican food stop changing.
That is what I like to call it.
I have never seen celery in carne Gusada must be a up north thing . It looked good but took way to much time to make . I am from Deep South tx this is a great meal to cook . When you put celery in it you ruined it , Sorry
farmerjoe338 that’s okay, I always say there are so many ways to change a recipe. Cook it the way you like it, because you are going to eat it.
Virtual kitchen with Laura yes you are correct I did not mean to be disrespectful, thank you for your honesty and god bless
farmerjoe338 thank you, none taken. I truly understand all people cook very different. Be safe.
Virtual kitchen with Laura thank you so much and you as well 👍
Celery? I don't think so.
Nasty
Jim Gibbons it’s not for everybody. Sorry you didn’t like it.
Esa basura no es comida mexicana es terrible ,no comas eso
Its says "TEX_MEX" sorry you did not like the recipe.
Tas loco
You are the only trash here buddy. This I know is great. It's as close to simple as it gets which is what even traditional Mexican food can appreciate. Don't be a keyboard warrior.
