It’s shocking the number of greats in all walks of life that we are losing, almost on a daily basis. It makes me so cognizant of my own advancing years and my own mortality and I’m angry and scared at the same time. Tina was a legend, her impact to music is incalculable, IMO. A brilliant singer, a trend setter, very gracious, a survivor of an abusive relationship, she felt more at home in Switzerland because of her husband and also because of the greater acceptance she felt in Europe. I saw a video of her and Bryan Adams singing a song and I felt bad for Bryan. Try as he might, he could not keep up with Tina and she was not even going all out. We could see and feel that she meant a lot to you. Nice tribute Michael. 🙏

Jimmy Barnes considered this moment one of the greatest highlights of his career. He got to sing with his hero and when he met her, he was gobsmacked by her warmth and generosity to him. You can see the joy on his face. Jimmy grew up in abject poverty in a town that suffered abject poverty. When he was a young teenager he and his friends snuck in through a back door at an Ike and Tina Turner concert. It was the first concert he ever saw. His friends were more interested in causing trouble but Jimmy was spellbound so he snuck right up to the front near the stage so he could see better. The way Tina performed was like nothing he’d ever experienced, she was a wild force of nature and in that moment he decided he was going sing like her. The rest is history… We in Australia had a special place in our heart for her and for some unfathomable reason she loved us back. Today the world is a little darker because Tina is no longer with us.
