Penny shopping at Popshelf and DG is a real thing. When items get discontinued and employees forget to remove them from the sales floor they will ring up a penny. You are NOT in trouble. They have a “ penny policy”. Love your videos!
When items ring up for $0.01 in retail stores, they were supposed to have been removed from the shelves by store employees because they are discontinued. You were lucky to have found these. Those mugs are pretty.
Not always that they were discontinued. In the case of DG & I think Pop Shelf, it's based on the inventory system. Some of those products that rang up a penny may go back to full price a few days or weeks later after their inventory is updated.
PopShelf is owned by Dollar General and I know they have penny items sometimes as part of their clearance. Penny items are supposed to be pulled from the sales floor but if they are missed by staff you can get pretty lucky.
One time years ago I went to the grocery store and was looking at the meat and noticed that there were T-bone steaks for 25 cents I got the 6 that were there Obviously somebody messed up they were good steaks🤤
When I used to work at Home Depot, they would occasionally mark things down to $0.01 each. It was just to get rid of things quickly without us just throwing them away or sending them back to the vendor. One thing: employees were not allowed to buy these items. If you bought these and were caught, it was grounds for immediate termination. That’s what I was told in orientation, but I have no idea how strongly it’s enforced. Please note: I am not complaining about this. THD was/is an awesome company to work for, and a great place to shop. I’m just explaining what our policy was a few years ago.

I use to work at a store bakery. We were instructed to make the four flavor cakes from the whole cakes that were going out of date. So it by them would reset the cake expiry date. After that I never by store bakery items. Also marinated meats from the meat department seem like a good idea, but its just the meat thats going out of date.
I used to work at Mrs. Fields Cookies when I was 16 y.o. we were not allowed to have any waste!! if any cookies didn't sell we saved them and crumbled them up to use as the base crust for our Peanut Butter Dreambar. I learned a lot working there!! Lol

Yes I love the cord organizers. I bought them and My husband yelled at me because he said he could make them with his 3D printer. I said okay well then get to printing 😂😂😂 the only thing is they don’t stick for long so I use the super glue tape as well. ❤
Years ago I saw the wire wraps somewhere. Either I forgot about them or they're still here somewhere. LOL I have a bad habit of doing that. Last weekend cleaning out the garage I found silverware set, 2 huge boxes of bowls and a full set of pots and pans. My daughter-in-law was thrilled. I'm 84 and I have been using the same pans since I was 16 lots of use. My ex husband/boyfriend in high school was selling them. I finally tossed them in the garbage. It was hard for me, lots of memories. I'm proud of myself, I did it. Now it would thrill me no end to find the wire wraps. If I don't find them I will be on the lookout for them. And I don’t think Pop shelf is going to go anywhere not for a little while anyway it’s a Dollar General store cleaner than dollar tree that’s here maybe not where you’re at, but not as good deals as dollar tree, but I think people get the gist of what pop shelf really is. For outdoor solar lights, use headlight hazing polish to protect them. When you get them new use the same or spray with clear UV spray paint. The hazing is the breakdown/oxidation of the plastic that protects the panels. The will last years longer if you do this. Also check the light/battery information as some rechargeable batteries do not withstand lower temperatures. Check candles on EWG, really not good to breath in a lot of those scents, even campfire smoke has toxins. Dermatologist about the lip stuff, tingly stinging is not good. I recently discovered a PopShelf. Those ballons can be reused. Love your channel! LOL Fingerhut, my mom had the catalog. also Miles Kimball is still around. PopShelf is more like a house supply store in Japan, quirky stuff. Don't blow out candles on cake-yuck spittle.

And down the street from me, there is a Dollar Tree *and* a Pop Shelf in the same strip mall. I'm thinking that I might have to take a trip there just to see what they got. Correct as a former manager of a dollar general items will reduce down to a penny in price that are considered "last seasons" usually identifiable through colored dots on the price tags of items within the store. Management is supposed to clear those items out but quite often they don't. Not at my local dollar general anyways.

Do not mention or ask the employees for these items..as these items were supposed to be pulled..but if you find them on the sales floor, you can purchase.. It is like an adult treasure hunt..if you happen to find these items just check out.

How crazy is this? Yesterday I went to Dollar General in Iowa. I bought 2 bottles of that new product, Pooph spray (20 FL. oz.). It really works great! They rang up $15.00 for each, then it subtracted $29.98. So each bottle cost me a penny. I was so excited...that has never happened to me either! I will definitely not be paying $15 for it! I'll stick with Febreeze! Love watching you! I also love the Dollar Tree! LA Awesome products are the bomb! Gotta give it time to soak then it'll wipe right off!

The firefly lights are regular price. They go for 2 for 9.99 at Ocean State job Lots. The other ones i bought were more expensive but they were multicolored.
we had a popshelf nearby; moved a little farther away. The quality is very good, so not $1 but very fair for the quality. Really good values on door wreaths, dishes, brand name cosmetics, etc. Much better with less "junk" than 5 Below
When I was a kid in the 90's, my parents ordered a bunch of stuff from the local grocery store's meat counter for a 4th of July BBQ. When we got to the checkout, the meat rang up for 1 penny. We assumed the butcher or someone who worked there ordered a similar order, so they gave us their order.
where I worked in retail 1 cent means it was being written off and was sposed to have been removed from the shelf... sometimes they are then sent back to the manufacturer such as on a recall, sometimes they've just been there so long not selling and the stores going to literally throw them in garbage/recyling.... sometimes they have to make it destroyed or damaged in some way when doing so. You couldn't get in trouble but the store employees could though typically no decent manager will do anything but remind them to remove things like that.

I do remember Fingerhut, I used to buy quite a few things from them. I just didn't like the wonky little payment books. I did get a catalog from them about a year ago, though.
I ❤ love Popshelf. I just did a haul on my channel. I haven't scored a penny item yet. Their stores are so neat and organized, penny items will be few and far between. The cord wraps and firefly lights are also sold on amazon and Temu. The candles don't have a strong throw, in my opinion. They also have the Rea Dunn, Martha Stewart, and IDesign lines.
Im waiting for a Pop Shelf to open near me. Hopefully im going home to Texas and Louisiana this year for a visit and will be able to hit up a Pop Shelf.

I live in the boonies so shopping anywhere is a real commitment. I’ve seen other TH-camrs do shop with me videos of Pop Shelf and their products seemed ok, but not as cheap as you found. I do remember Finger Hut. My mother wouldn’t let me so much as sniff their catalog. It went right into the trash. I wonder if she had an embarrassing Finger Hut experience? Did they sell those neck massagers?
I've been to Dollar Tree and got those Christmas advent calendars for 1 penny and then sanitizer bottles for free. It happened only once but I did get things for 1 cent. The employee told me they were removing them from the shelves because the holiday was over.

Dollar Tree did have lip plumpers over a year ago. I got a few of them. I don't know how much they plump, but they keep your lips moist forever.

I pay $5 for candles. Easy! When our Valentine candles go on sale (from $30 to $5!) I buy three or four!

The firefly lights are regular price. They go for 2 for 9.99 at Ocean State job Lots. The other ones i bought were more expensive but they were multicolored.

we had a popshelf nearby; moved a little farther away. The quality is very good, so not $1 but very fair for the quality. Really good values on door wreaths, dishes, brand name cosmetics, etc. Much better with less "junk" than 5 Below
When I was a kid in the 90's, my parents ordered a bunch of stuff from the local grocery store's meat counter for a 4th of July BBQ. When we got to the checkout, the meat rang up for 1 penny. We assumed the butcher or someone who worked there ordered a similar order, so they gave us their order.
where I worked in retail 1 cent means it was being written off and was sposed to have been removed from the shelf... sometimes they are then sent back to the manufacturer such as on a recall, sometimes they've just been there so long not selling and the stores going to literally throw them in garbage/recyling.... sometimes they have to make it destroyed or damaged in some way when doing so. You couldn't get in trouble but the store employees could though typically no decent manager will do anything but remind them to remove things like that.
I love this channel. Vivian, you are so cute and funny. 😅 You show stuff that I've never seen before. That's another reason I love watching this channel. I do remember Fingerhut, I used to buy quite a few things from them. I just didn't like the wonky little payment books. I did get a catalog from them about a year ago, though.

I ❤ love Popshelf. I just did a haul on my channel. I haven't scored a penny item yet. Their stores are so neat and organized, penny items will be few and far between. The cord wraps and firefly lights are also sold on amazon and Temu. The candles don't have a strong throw, in my opinion. They also have the Rea Dunn, Martha Stewart, and IDesign lines.

I got a set of the cord keepers from temu. They're great for keeping things in order. You got the deal of the century on that mug. I don't know if I have a pop shelf in my area but I'm going to find out. Would love to have a set of those mugs
I live in the boonies so shopping anywhere is a real commitment. I’ve seen other TH-camrs do shop with me videos of Pop Shelf and their products seemed ok, but not as cheap as you found. I do remember Finger Hut. My mother wouldn’t let me so much as sniff their catalog. It went right into the trash. I wonder if she had an embarrassing Finger Hut experience? Did they sell those neck massagers?

I've been to Dollar Tree and got those Christmas advent calendars for 1 penny and then sanitizer bottles for free. It happened only once but I did get things for 1 cent. The employee told me they were removing them from the shelves because the holiday was over.
