Penny shopping at Popshelf and DG is a real thing. When items get discontinued and employees forget to remove them from the sales floor they will ring up a penny. You are NOT in trouble. They have a “ penny policy”. Love your videos!

Home Depot used to have clearance items for 1 cent, but now they remove them and take them to the back to destroy. Sad.
Ughhh my store pulls all the .01 items , so I just started dumpster diving to get all my stuff for free 🙌🙌 ( most of the time everything is new )

One time years ago I went to the grocery store and was looking at the meat and noticed that there were T-bone steaks for 25 cents I got the 6 that were there Obviously somebody messed up they were good steaks🤤

do i remember Finger Hut?? im still paying off the fancy China dish set i bought in 1999. the dishes were $99 but the interest/finance charge is $9,282
PopShelf is owned by Dollar General and I know they have penny items sometimes as part of their clearance. Penny items are supposed to be pulled from the sales floor but if they are missed by staff you can get pretty lucky.

When items ring up for $0.01 in retail stores, they were supposed to have been removed from the shelves by store employees because they are discontinued. You were lucky to have found these. Those mugs are pretty.
Not always that they were discontinued. In the case of DG & I think Pop Shelf, it's based on the inventory system. Some of those products that rang up a penny may go back to full price a few days or weeks later after their inventory is updated.
When I used to work at Home Depot, they would occasionally mark things down to $0.01 each. It was just to get rid of things quickly without us just throwing them away or sending them back to the vendor. One thing: employees were not allowed to buy these items. If you bought these and were caught, it was grounds for immediate termination. That’s what I was told in orientation, but I have no idea how strongly it’s enforced. Please note: I am not complaining about this. THD was/is an awesome company to work for, and a great place to shop. I’m just explaining what our policy was a few years ago.
we had the same rule at Wal-mart - so you "hid" the items, then texted a family member to come and get them
I use to work at a store bakery. We were instructed to make the four flavor cakes from the whole cakes that were going out of date. So it by them would reset the cake expiry date. After that I never by store bakery items. Also marinated meats from the meat department seem like a good idea, but its just the meat thats going out of date.
I used to work at Mrs. Fields Cookies when I was 16 y.o. we were not allowed to have any waste!! if any cookies didn't sell we saved them and crumbled them up to use as the base crust for our Peanut Butter Dreambar. I learned a lot working there!! Lol

The closest PopShelf is an hour away so it’s a nice fun stop but not a regular occurrence. Join their rewards program to get a mystery box - likely discontinued things but I liked mine.

Yes I love the cord organizers. I bought them and My husband yelled at me because he said he could make them with his 3D printer. I said okay well then get to printing 😂😂😂 the only thing is they don’t stick for long so I use the super glue tape as well. ❤

Dollar Tree did have lip plumpers over a year ago. I got a few of them. I don't know how much they plump, but they keep your lips moist forever.
The bug spray hack WORKS! Foggy headlight. It’s not a permanent fix but nonetheless it works!

I've got maybe 2 items from Walmart for 0.03
I have penny shopped at Dollar General as we do not have any pop shelf. I have gotten many different types of items for a penny…nail polish, glasses, coffee cups, rugs, toilet paper, candy, Oreos, frozen food, lawn and garden items and even 6 blanket ladder’s. Do not mention or ask the employees for these items..as these items were supposed to be pulled..but if you find them on the sales floor, you can purchase.. It is like an adult treasure hunt..if you happen to find these items just check out.

When I was a kid in the 90's, my parents ordered a bunch of stuff from the local grocery store's meat counter for a 4th of July BBQ. When we got to the checkout, the meat rang up for 1 penny. We assumed the butcher or someone who worked there ordered a similar order, so they gave us their order.
I pay $5 for candles. Easy! When our Valentine candles go on sale (from $30 to $5!) I buy three or four!
Those candles are at Dollar General, too. Same price! I buy the wax melts for my classroom.
Penny Shopping at Dollar General is a real thing, I do it regularly. I've never been to Pop Shelf before because their penny items are fewer. I have gotten a few things from Dollar Tree for a penny before but unlike the DG, they're not predictable.
I went to Home Depot, went to clearance section cause these beautiful blinds, and I went to go pay, and it said a penny??
It was on clearance?? I was completely stoked. It was great for my back patio door.
I honestly DID get something at D-Tree yesterday that rang up $0.01...it was a little sign on the craft aisle. I know about penny shopping at DG, but this is the first I heard of it at Popshelf yessss
I live in the boonies so shopping anywhere is a real commitment. I’ve seen other TH-camrs do shop with me videos of Pop Shelf and their products seemed ok, but not as cheap as you found. I do remember Finger Hut. My mother wouldn’t let me so much as sniff their catalog. It went right into the trash. I wonder if she had an embarrassing Finger Hut experience? Did they sell those neck massagers?

It’s usually items that are being pulled out of inventory and they are supposed to pull them off the shelf. They can’t stop you from buying it though. ❤
For outdoor solar lights, use headlight hazing polish to protect them. When you get them new use the same or spray with clear UV spray paint. The hazing is the breakdown/oxidation of the plastic that protects the panels. The will last years longer if you do this. Also check the light/battery information as some rechargeable batteries do not withstand lower temperatures. Check candles on EWG, really not good to breath in a lot of those scents, even campfire smoke has toxins. Dermatologist about the lip stuff, tingly stinging is not good. I recently discovered a PopShelf. Those ballons can be reused. Love your channel! LOL Fingerhut, my mom had the catalog. also Miles Kimball is still around. PopShelf is more like a house supply store in Japan, quirky stuff. Don't blow out candles on cake-yuck spittle.
I totally remember Finger Hut! We didn’t care how high the price was because you could have it and pay 5 or 10 bucks a month..LOL

LOL at Fingerhut! I used to shop there and in fact, still have one hand towel that came with a set that I purchased back in the late 1980's. And down the street from me, there is a Dollar Tree *and* a Pop Shelf in the same strip mall. I'm thinking that I might have to take a trip there just to see what they got. Oh and my cat Sophie was watching the video with me and when the fire alarm went off, she took off thinking it was our house. Haha! Leroy on the other hand, just stayed put and continued to sleep.

You were last Fingerhut is still around. It may be old, but it’s still around. And I don’t think Pop shelf is going to go anywhere not for a little while anyway it’s a Dollar General store cleaner than dollar tree that’s here maybe not where you’re at, but not as good deals as dollar tree, but I think people get the gist of what pop shelf really is. It will be big as well. I would like to see you do a preview on is Ollie and see what you think about it
Correct as a former manager of a dollar general items will reduce down to a penny in price that are considered "last seasons" usually identifiable through colored dots on the price tags of items within the store. Management is supposed to clear those items out but quite often they don't. Not at my local dollar general anyways.

I am so surprised they have the metal sparklers They had those when I was a kid and we do those for the 4th of July and swirl them around in the yard My dad kept saying don't drop them on the ground you could step on them lol.

hard for me, lots of memories. I'm proud of myself, I did it. Now it would thrill me no end to find the wire wraps. If I

Balloon issue - maybe try inserting a straw into the inner balloon, then fit appropriate nozzle/adapter on end of straw and gently inflate. ?🤷?

I've been to Dollar Tree and got those Christmas advent calendars for 1 penny and then sanitizer bottles for free. It happened only once but I did get things for 1 cent. The employee told me they were removing them from the shelves because the holiday was over.

Yes! I love penny shopping at dollar general! And that candle is a brand they carry at Dollar General to and I’ve been trying some scents out an they are all pretty decent! All those stores are owned by same people, they know what their doing! One store we paying 1.25 another a $1 🤦🏻♀️

where I worked in retail 1 cent means it was being written off and was sposed to have been removed from the shelf... sometimes they are then sent back to the manufacturer such as on a recall, sometimes they've just been there so long not selling and the stores going to literally throw them in garbage/recyling.... sometimes they have to make it destroyed or damaged in some way when doing so. You couldn't get in trouble but the store employees could though typically no decent manager will do anything but remind them to remove things like that.
The firefly lights are on Temu aswell, only issue is the bulb now glows yellow after being in the sun - still cute through when they move in the breeze
none in my area North East coast but there are a few of them down south near the beach so I'm going to take a look when we go down this summer just cause you mentioned it now I have to check it out lol. I like checking out other DTs and other stores on road trips as well.

I ❤ love Popshelf. I just did a haul on my channel. I haven't scored a penny item yet. Their stores are so neat and organized, penny items will be few and far between. The cord wraps and firefly lights are also sold on amazon and Temu. The candles don't have a strong throw, in my opinion. They also have the Rea Dunn, Martha Stewart, and IDesign lines.
I don't have a Pop Shelf near me but I have been penny shopping at Dollar General stores for years. Lots of stuff...clothes, shoes, socks, food, candy...I've even gotten pots and pans and serve wear.
