Vanguard spear head main here. The Phobos captain I tend to use to pair his redeploy with having a ten man unit of terminators with a librarian in term armour plus the enhancement that gives them infiltrate! Deploying that many terminators 9 inches from my opponents deployment zone with the option redeploy has been a very good psychological and practical tactic.
To add on: infiltrate a big unit aggressively and in a long line to push back opponent infiltrators, then redeploy to condense the unit in a better position, even if it's before we know who goes first. Secondly, in Vanguard, he can sticky an objective for free and has the cloak for lone op to do action secondaries out in the open.

The reivers I got in the space wolf combat patrol have now become an auto include since the last data slate. Using the phobos lieutenant to drop in and steal the enemy home objective giving me reliable access to saga of majesty, suddenly my wulfen and murderfang can take and hold objectives. It's absolutely great.
I saw this post literally two minutes ago, and I have been waiting for someone else to see how good they got! I loved Phobos in 9th, and now they’re finally back! Incursors are crazy now! Assault, with 411 sustained 1 knives, and giving the entire rest of the army plus one to hit in the shooting phase! Sorry if you cover this, but I’m so excited to run them!
When it comes to the phobos captain: my army plays like jump pack heavy salamanders (or flamer heavy blood angels?) and between jump units and terminators I'm always chafing against the point limit for strategic reserves. This guy lets me put even more stuff in reserves, which can preserve my T4 3+ melee jump units.

I run a Phobos Captain in my Vanguard Spearhead with the Ghostweave Cloak for Lone Operative. I use him to redeploy my key infantry (including into Reserves, if necessary) -- normally this is my Azrael/Hellblaster blob and my two squads of Deathwing Knights (one of which can Infiltrate with "The Blade Driven Deep"), but i can also use it on my Devastator Centurions. Finally, I use his free strat to sticky objectives with the special Vanguard Spearhead strat... kind of like a one man, Lone Op version of Intercessors.
Captain in phobos with vanguard detachment. Can target himself with uppy downy strat. Since he is phobos, I can select another unit. Reivers can redeepstrike for more percision strikes. End game im redeploying him and lieutenant w/ combi or my incursors for secondaries. Edit: Grammar and apparently I'm bad at typing early morning.
Phobos cap does have a 33% to generate a free cp when paired with infiltrators, also interesting option to give him the Shoot'n'Scoot enhancement in Vanguard with Infils to Infiltrate, Sabotage an objective for free + 33% +1CP then Move-Shoot-Move your infiltrators 12".
Add on "frost weapon" to the LT and hes str 5 ap 2 with sus/lethals and precision, with the strat to go to ap 3. I'm running this at a gt next weekend, this will be my saga of majesty enabler.
Phobos Captain is petty useful in deathwatch blackspear. This is a combo I always use: phobos captain + Beacon Angelis enhancement + Spectrus Kill Team. 1. You can put this 11 models brick in no man land in depolyment, and then redepoly them. 2. Always use the 0cp HELLFIRE ROUNDS on this unit. 3. Instigator Bolt Carbine provide shoot and move. 4. Spectrus Doctrines let you remove the unit and then deep strike(from Beacon Angelis) in your turn.
yeah but you are talking about a 300 point unit at that point. which is.... alot. the spectrus is never valued that much imo BUT i am thrilled you are enjoying it.
You can take the phobos lieutenant and deepstrike them then move them closer in the shooting phase and then get easier charge too good for killing a buff type character.

Uses for Phobos Captain = put him with infiltrators screen way up board with his and other infiltrator units (IE Scouts) then redeploy them to safety / score secondaries like board edges whatnot , or put big melee or vehicle units on the line out of cover to bait opponent then redeploy to safety better lanes but most important reason to keep him with infiltrators is to use his -1 CP/free CP to Farm CP for entire army on a 5 + with infiltrators ability.
The only vehicule unit you could redeploy with him was the invictor warsuit because of its phobos keyword, it's not the case anymore, the captain redeploy adeptus astartes infantry now. But yes, I think the phobos captain is good with infiltrators and big melee units too, especially terminators with infiltrate bonus.
What about the new Death Watch Kill team Spectrus ? With a Phobos Librarian in Anvil detachement, it's not bad. 14 shot of f5 -1AP lethal hit Bolter plus 2 las rifle in heavy, a instigator carabine and the Smite of the psyker. A unit who can infiltrate, scout 6" and be replaced in strategique reserve. He can shoot and move (good for moving in Anvil), have Helix or Communication, and always be shrouded for deny shooting beyond 12". It's a ideal for standing the no man's land i think and can be escorted by a invictor warsuit with incendium (overwatch and reactive move). i have made a list with 3 KT spectrus, 3 eliminator unit (probably with las rifle), a Phobos Captain (for redeploying the Spectrus) and 3 invictor warsuit I still have 490 points left, maybe for building biggest gun lines, setting counter charge units or deploying more Phobos ! The downside is that I can't have a scout unit.
libraian does not have scout, so you cant scout if you attach him, he also has no ability to shoot and scoot, that is the eliminators ability not the phobos libby.
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 You can read the datasheet for the KT Spectrus unit in Death Watch index. The character attached in the unit gains the infiltrator and scout 6" abilities. And the Spectrus KT can have a instigator bolt carabine and the shoot move rule of this weapon is in the wargear abilities of the Data sheet.
Hey Johnathan.. great vid. Quick question, if a unit of my sang guard with a banner that is battle shocked is in range of enemy reivers, would the oc of the sang guard models be 1 or 0? Basically does the banner add oc before or after reivers debuff?
1. All modifiers are cumulative. 2. If a rule instructs you to change or replace one characteristic with a specified value, change the relevant characteristic to the new value before applying any modifiers that apply from other rules (if any) to the new value. 3. You must then apply division modifiers before applying multiplication modifiers, before applying addition and then subtraction modifiers. 4. Round any fractions up after applying all modifiers.

Sadly they didn't get the AP buff and can't deep strike. We're better using reivers to steal the enemy home objective and unlock saga of majesty. Suddenly, wulfen can take objectives which is REALLY good.

@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 tbh i dont think their changes where that of a big deal, yeah now they only need to be close to u rather tahn engaged in combat to force battleshocks at disavantage, but even before no one used reivers as an "actual" battleshock bomb, just a 75pts scouts/deepstrikers to be anoying, it's only a 5pts increase for a very good buff on their ability, but i was running these dudes as supplement for scouts, now i either have to chose between one or the other or give up points in other, better stuff in order to keep both to score points
no i would not. that is a much larger footprint, making it easier to screen, and it still will hunt the same targets as a 5 man unit. and will still die instantly in the next turn

I actually love the Phobos Librarian with Incursors. Super safe target marking support unit with some teeth in combat.

I have been considering a max squad of Reivers with a Lieutenant. That is 45 attacks with Lethal Hits. Pretty darn good I think.

i think its unnecessary and hard to use due to the much bigger footprint. The unit is not hunting tanks or elites

The Hounds of Morkai are a phobos unit. They also benefit from the Lt. in Reiver armor.

Nope. The leader has to have deepstrike. Which is why reiver Lt is pants. I've run reivers all of 10th
the wargear on the model gives deepstrike, the leader does not gain it. its why the LT in phobos rocks and the LT in Reiver sucks

would you suggest running a 10 man reivers or a 5 man with a phobos lieutenant? great video as per usual
