      I'm not sure if all TV's have this function but if I hold the on/off button on my remote my TV does a complete reboot. My TV gets locked up every now and then, but I never had to plug it out and back in.

      Don't worry, no need to justify your choice. You are totally right. Buiyng a FALD and using the key function you basically paid more over a classic and cheaper LED, it's the dumbest thing you can do. Auto local dimming HIgh is mandatory.

    top notch video, the tv comes with great defaults out of the box and you acknowledged that, while providing us with the right minor tweaks to make the display that much better, for a wide range of modes, good job explaining everything, it's clear that you know what you're talking about, something that's refreshing considering the amount of other youtube videos on tv settings/calibrations that are simply wrong! As a gamer that's waiting for the new xbox series x, and someone who loves movies these settings are perfect for each mode! Thanks for posting

    I was looking for settings for the x900h and clicked on this video without seeing the thumbnail completely. It came on and I thought I accidentally clicked on a Cigar Obsession video lmao. Excellent run through. Way more in depth than Rtings. I also noticed that the HDR brightness was amazing in real world usage, despite what the test results said. My x900f has better peak brightness on paper, but the x900h seems brighter than it in real life.

    This is by far most helpful and informative video on Sony XH90 that i watched, and I watched all of them on TH-cam, believe me. Tnx man. I live in Europe and after some research (by some i mean watching hundreds of hours of reviews) I'm leaning towards this set in 65" size.
    I wanted OLED for a few years now, and earlier this year I've bought LG CX and returned it because of red tinting. Got replacement and it had same problem. I managed to get a refund, and even tough i initially wasn't worried about burn in (had 2 Pana plasmas before) it was a big burden for me in those days of use. I use my TV as a PC monitor (wireless living room setup), I play a lot of Fifa on ps4 (ps5), watch football/soccer if u will, and a lot of tv shows and films. So a lot of static images. I turned to LCD instead, and im ready to trade some of that OLED black for a piece of mind when it comes to burn in. Samsung q95 for same money looked like a next reasonable choice, but horrible DSE owners reports made me eliminate that too. I really hate uniformity issues in TV, so I want lees as possible in my next set.
    HDMI 2.1 is something that is a must, if I want to use new TV next 5 years, so I'm researching this TV now.
    I have few questions for you: Do you see any DSE in panning shots, and does game mode wash out the colors and mess up the contrast? Tnx again.

  • @Rick-tg4oy
    @Rick-tg4oy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video. I just got mine and set it up similarly.
    I can echo your comments about the brightness. When I launched Final Fantasy VIIR on my PS4 the system prompted me to adjust the PS4 level HDR settings. I said yes and it jumped me to a PURE white, max brightness screen. It just about blew me out of my couch it was so bright. We were in a room with all the lights off and my wife and I both yelled "AAHHHHH" and she said "IT'S BRIGHT AS DAY IN HERE!"
    You're 100% right about the fact that people compare panels directly using specific measurements, and while those measurements absolutely do have value, readers may interpret that to mean these TVs look bad or aren't bright enough, etc, etc, etc.
    The reality is as you said. This TV looks amazing. It's insanely bright, colors are amazing, the HDR rocks. It's a great TV.
    There is a bit of a swell of people that aren't happy with blurriness displayed on Hdmi 2.1 using 4K/120 with a PC connection. If that's a deal breaker then so be it, but if anyone is out there and doesn't care about that scenario, don't let that put you off this otherwise incredible set.
    For the price it's been on sale for, I think it's hard to beat.

    I used these settings on my X900H and I have to say I'm blown away by the difference! I ran an OLED demo and the blacks are very black! You can really tell the difference when using the quick toggle to toggle between Standard/Cinema and Custom. I feel like this takes the TV's picture quality to another level.
    Thanks a ton!

    Just got this set yesterday and I can tell you, the black uniformity is mind blowing. I have a Samsung Note 10+; it's OLED and I cannot see a huge difference when playing the test videos for blackness. I loved the color accuracy out-of-the-box.
    Of course, I followed your base settings and it's even better!
    Oh, the game mode, even without VRR and ALLM, I have no screen tearing and have super low input lag. Tested it with FIFA 20 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Short anecdote: I was playing FIFA on an old 2009 LG TV. So I got used to the input lag. When i started playing on this TV, my gameplay instantly changed. Hahaha! Every freaking button press: changing thru my defensive players, sending a pass, shooting was instant. I used to suffer on defense because, by the time I changed to another defense player, the freaking input was delayed and the CPU always reacted faster and passed me by. That didn't happen yesterday!
    So, if you're a gamer, you'll love this set. ✌️
    Thanks for your settings. I just don't like what Rtings used. Cheers!

Not as bright as a Samsung Q90T, but good enough. Picture quality is really good and black levels looked deep. Deeper than my current plasma TV.

    I pulled the trigger on a 75" X900H last week, will be delivered Wednesday. I'm coming from a 65" LG C7 OLED that I loved, until the burn in started 6 months ago. It has become intolerable. I viewed it at Costco, and it looked as good as if not better than anything else non-OLED they had on display. Then I saw the Rtings review and Vincent's, and read the forums, and became very paranoid about the brightness and possible banding on this TV. I almost cancelled my order. Your review has really reassured me. It was very straight forward and detailed about the pluses and minuses of the 900H. I will definitely try out your settings.

    • @brucecarter6205
      @brucecarter6205 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear about your burn in issues. More often than not it seems like people start to develop burn in at roughly 2 years of ownership on their OLED’s. I owned a Sony A1E for 18 months and didn’t encounter any issues. I have an LG C8 in my bedroom now, so we’ll see how it holds up in the long term. Probably good that it only sees about 5 hours of use per week.

      @@brucecarter6205 Being at home due to covid for 4 months and doubling my tv viewing and gaming has for sure accelerated the burn in. More often than not, when I read that someone says their LG OLED has burn in, it's the C7. It seems to be especially prone to burn in.

    I've had the very same Tv at home for the last 10 days (European version), and everything mentioned in this video is absolutely correct. You sir know your stuff! My 85" is set up in a small dedicated room where it replaced a 1080p Benq projector with a 95" screen, but the picture quality on offer here, when properly set up, more than makes up for the 10" difference. In my dark/black room, I use a brightness of 8 for Sdr content (mostly blurays), and the other settings are just as described here. Glorious picture quality, black levels, and motion handling. Fantastic set for gaming too with the ps4 pro, which will only get better with the promised hdmi 2.1 update.
