Vincent, you built this channel on highly technical TV reviews (with a touch of humor we all love) and this is what you should continue doing, nobody else does it as good as you do.
This doesn't mean you can't experiment with different video formats and shorter less in depth and technical videos as long as you keep your reviews the same. As far as I am concerned make as many unboxing, TV news, settings and other similar types of videos as you can/want, and there are plenty of ways to experiment with those types of videos.
Also one way to maybe try to increase views is to review more cheap and lower mid range TVs, those are the ones that get sold way more than flagship and high mid range TVs you review and hardly anyone reviews those, especially not someone as knowledgeable as you. And since those TV are bought by less demanding people, the reviews can be less detailed and less time consuming to do, might not even call them reviews so as to not dilute your brand, but something like overviews. Or you might just skip reviewing cheap TVs and jump straight to short comparisons such as this video but for cheapo TVs, for example AU8000 vs Q60A or Q70A. Despite the fact that most TV purists/enthusiasts would say that you shouldn't buy any of those TVs the reality is millions and millions of people do and in this day and age when reviews of everything are the most popular they've ever been many would be buyers would watch a comparison video or review by somebody who knows what he is talking about.

I sympathise with you seeing other creators get more views and wondering why or what you could do different. But I (and presumably many others) watch you because of your in-depth-ness and enjoy the slower, relaxed presentation style. Being good at what you do and appealing strongly to a niche audience is at least better than appealing to no-one. Keep up the great work.

Those videos are important for those of us that love physical media. I think you can do more of these types of videos in shorter periods of time and there are always new 4k HDR blurays coming out both new movies and SDR to 4K HDR remastered transfers from older movies. What a huge difference over my previous RCA RTU5540-C, there’s so many times I’ve gone “wow I’ve never noticed that detail before!” Or “it looks like I’m in the same room as whatever is on the TV” very happy with my purchase. The only thing I’ll say that I am disappointed in is when subtitles flash on the whole tv darkens and in between subtitles it goes back to normal so the result is this weird flashing. Hey Vincent - Stay the course as always! Have always been a silent viewer of all your technical deep dive videos and this is literally my first TH-cam comment :) Just wanted to say keep up the good work & keep em coming. Oh, and please review the Z9J - Been waiting to purchase it but with lack of any reviews, I am holding back for now. I wouldn't trust anyone else with that review ;)

Excellent comparison as always! For me at least you are my go to channel for TV reviews. The technical aspects you touch on are never found in any other videos here. However I’m sure that a video format such as this one will attract a wider audience. Keep up the good work and I’m waiting for you to put your hands on the TCL C825 Mini-LED.

Love your technical reviews Vincent, like many enthusiasts/anoraks we all understand the details perfectly clearly.
However... here's an idea; why not publish a 'concise edition' first i.e. for regular shoppers?
Shorter in length (ding!) and 'jargon-free', end it with..."if you want the advanced full-fat version, you can find it here..."
These current Sony models only have 24 dimming zones?? Oh dear!!
OR "imagine trying to recreate the night-sky on a 55" Television screen, which will look better: one with 24 controllable areas/blocks of light or one with 600 controllable areas/blocks of light?"
    "Should've gone to...."

You're the man when it comes to technical reviews! Whenever I mention the name "Master Teoh" to anyone familiar with this space, they react in total awe at your superior erudition and prowess - technical, of course! It's a shame that you're under economic pressure to increase viewership. But if diluting your technical content is required to appeal to a larger audience, so be it! Who are we to tell you not to?

Hello Vincent! During the last years I have learned so much about TVs thanky to you. Whenever I am looking for a TV review or comparison I check your channel first. You have a great way to explain all these technical details without sounding like a lecture at university. Please keep up your excellent work and don´t compare yourself to others. You might be addressing a smaller audience but they relly love you for being who you are. Unfortunately I am not from the UK and therefore cannot consider to buy a TV from Richer Sounds to support your work. I would even hire you to calibrate my TV but I guess Germany is not within your service area. Is there any possibility to support you otherwise? I and many others here would be glad to show their gratitude. You are the benchmark in TV reviewing!

I like the technical videos. The hardest part is understanding your accent. Not sure how to fix that, but maybe it's related? Or maybe people really don't care about the deep technical parts of these TVs?
I started watching your channel when I went looking to buy a TV. Now that I have one, I don't care as much, but my sister is looking, so I'm interested. In general, I'm interested in new TV tech only after watching you, but mainly QD-OLED vs W-OLED at this point and what LG did to achieve 30% higher peak brightness.

I bought the X9000H (Australia have an extra '0' because...why not?) last year as an upgrade to a 10ish year old Samsung. After watching this, the only reason the X90J would interest me would be due to the smoother gradation. The brightness levels (while lower on paper) are fantastic and the black levels are very much adequate. While it's going to be noticeable on a side-by-side comparison, watching it separately, I'm not sure there would be enough difference. For those who are picky about perfect white balance etc, I think a TV at this price point will never satisfy them even with the X90J's additional features.
For those who would prefer to save a little and get last years model, then you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, go for the newer model.

I keep coming back to your channel. Everyone else is just an armchair hype creator. You're the professor. Would love a slightly silly video. How closely can a person calibrate a tv without the expensive equipment? I know that may go against the rigor of the channel but it's fair question for so many of us unable to access a calibration tool. Thanks for all your efforts

I would however love to see a few additional videps - Best for a particular budget for that year or season. or a quick video of top three/five tvs at 65" 55" 48" etc . These quick glance videos will bring the extra traffic you require for the less technical of buyers.

  • @ManchesterTechGuy
    @ManchesterTechGuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The technical reviews are why I subbed. I think you should branch out and do unboxing/first impressions so you can get content out faster, but then follow up with a technical look.
With that though, you may end up with the follow up videos doing way worse than anything else and the initial videos taking off. That might result in higher views overall, but alienate some of your viewers.
You can always experiment and see what happens. If you're not happy with the outcome, go back to doing what you do best. I'll support you either way

Regarding the views, sadly it's always like this. I kinda know this world in the tech community. Gamers Nexus took 10 years to reach 1mln. And others like der8auer and Buildzoid, in depth too, make a lot less views. Instead channels that make easy and more commercial videos have a lot more views. But I can tell you that the base that a solid channel builds is much more solid, go on like this!

So I got my XH90 last Year, mostly because of your videos! I am happy with it, but I was a little frustrated with the slow updates from sony, hopefully we get this LLA and VRR update soon. I had an LG B6 before and after 2 panel exchanges because of "burn in", I wanted a LCD panel again. So to this video, if you use your TV for Gaming on Xbox Series X(like me) or PS5. buy a cheaper XH90! :) And I like the deep dives of your content, so pls stick with it!

I recently purchased the X90J. Your reviews may be "slower" and more methodical and have less in the way of fancy editing, but they are far more informative. For instance, I learned about adjusting HDMI inputs for regular or enhanced from your X90J review (the one with the awful audio).
Other channels may be more flashy. Yours is the one I've subscribed to. If you want to differentiate yourself further from them, I suggest getting MORE technical: Explain what "tone mapping" is; Do settings walkthroughs, etc.
