No, we fight to take back our church from those who have committed these horrific acts and those in power who turned a blind eye. We demand action, not just empty words. Do you leave your country because men have done evil things in its name?
Jesus left his church because they were too picky about work on the Sabbath - not because they were raping thousands of children. Be like Jesus. The truth has set you free. Pick up your bed and walk. Follow Jesus.
Charles Snarls : Ah, you sick, misguided man, you say you want to be like Jesus? I'm thinking you'd rather be more like Boy George. Anyway, in Matthew chapter 18 : verse 6 - Jesus said, "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were BETTER for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."/////Well, be a man of your words, go out purchase about 300 millstones and start tying away!! Seeing these reprobates catholic priests being tossed into the sea would make a wonderful youtube video!!
The comments on this video are shocking to me. How do all of you not see that the leadership of the church at the highest level are refusing to change and to this day helping predators escape justice? The power, influence and wealth that ALL Catholics, yourself included, give to your leadership is being used to continue the tradition of secrecy which allowed all of this to happen in the first place. Do you have any idea how uncooperative the people who run the organization you belong to are with investigators? You can lay the blame for the acts themselves on those who actually committed them but to see who allowed them to get away with it for so long you, and all Catholics , need only look in the mirror.
After encountering a evil priest in 1988 I was beyond hurt. For 30 years I hated the church. As a result I found myself in some very dark places. Then I met a simple good, sincere parish priest. Because of that short talk with him, I have dropped my hate and pain and returned to the sacraments. It has been about a year now. This news does not surprise me. Yet I am not leaving...to whom shall I go?
Charles Robson I am so sorry that you encountered so many years of pain within our beloved church - I get you!!!! We keep our eye on the cross knowing Jesus is crying with the survivors and all of us.
Father Mike is the best thing that happened in US Catholic life in quite a while: a super relatable young(ish) priest with great social skills serving as the face of the Church for Millennials. And this is a perfect explanation and condemnation of the recent scandals. Thank you!
Jesus left his church because they were too picky about work on the Sabbath - not because they were raping thousands of kids, seminarians, and nuns. (I'm not sure he would have even joined a church with that much raping.) Be like Jesus. Jesus said, "Seek and you will find". You'll never 'find' him in this spiritual rubbish heap. The truth has set you free. Knock their dust off your sandals. Pick up your bed and walk. Follow Jesus (truth) wherever that takes you.
Father Mike is half my age and twice the man. One of my absolute favorite personalities. I thank God for giving him the courage to speak out. I pray that we all listen.
Your flesh will burn for your weakness and cowardice. You choose to follow the pathetic conmen who choose to align themselves with evil under the guise of change. A leopard does not change its spots, nor a demon change its sores. And a chameleon blends in to hide from its predators, a child closes its eyes to hide from the vision of his abusers. Your ignorance and cowardice will not save you from his judgement, which will come, and as you quiver now unwilling to stand up and walk away from unmentionable evil, you will quiver then unwilling to believe your savior cannot, will not, take you as one of his flock for you turned your back on his children when he showed you the light of truth. No, you chose to believe Mike and his tears, and his theatrics, rather than the cries and screams of millions of your own Catholic children. God would NEVER allow anyone who did not choose to protect his children into eternal peace…No, YOU WILL KNOW HIS NAME IS YOUR LORD WHEN HE LAYS HIS VENGEANCE UPON THEE!
I have been wrestling with this since I walked away from not only the Church as a newly confirmed Catholic, but from Christianity as a whole. It’s been two years since I’ve followed your channel Fr. Mike; and I need you to know...your message - your openness - your “call to arms” has reached passed the walls of anger and doubt I’ve had steeled around my heart. Thank you. I am coming Home. Thank you.
Fr. Mike, I think this is the TH-cam Fr. Alar mentioned in his talk regarding the church scandal. You are mentioned at 43:56 minutes. If you haven’t heard about this I think you should and I agree with Fr. Alar. I LOVE what both of you are doing in evangelizing our faith. God Bless our Holy Priests✝️🙏🏼❤️
For years I was a Protestant Calvinist, and very anti-Catholic Church. People have known for quite a while that this kind of stuff was going on, because it was a running joke that Priests were pedophiles when I was young (I'm 32). As a Protestant, I truly believed the Catholic Church was the corrupt Church, evil through its doctrine and history. However, I'd still find myself attending Mass when I was in London, feeling absolute peace in the Cathedral. I began reading Church History, Catholic Doctrine, and the Bible more closely. I am now absolutely convinced that the Catholic Church was founded by Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit, and I start the RCIA this month. These acts, though numerous, are condemned by the Bible, Jesus, Sacred Tradition and the Church completely. Priests do this in spite of the Christian faith, not because of it. Don't let Satan use these monstrous acts to drive you from Christ and His Church. Stand with Christ and use the authority of the Church to drive out Satan! God bless you Father Mike, with all of His joy, mercy and love!
Did it ever occur to you that God, not Satan, is trying to expose the Church? Sincerity is not enough. The only reason the Church stopped burning people alive in the town square is because they were forced too stop by secular authorities - not by Christian reformers. Ask a 'good' priest why it was OK for the Church killed people for a thousand years and what moral teaching made them stop. They have no morality. They can't teach you morality. Lay down with whores, wake up with syphilis. Jesus left his Church because they were too fussy about the Sabbath, not because they were raping children. Raise your standards. If you're going to teach them morality, they should pay you.
Charles Snarls Wow. ! Well said. I’m disgusted at the RC Church. Can this Fr. Mike really be “surprised” with the disaster in Pennsylvania? This BS has been going on and known of for decades now. The problem isn’t homosexuality, it’s the church’s attitude toward sexuality across the board. People are not buying it.
@@charlessnarls3902 The entirety of your comments breeds from misrepresentation of historic events such as the spanish inquisition and the crusades which were very diferent things. The crusades were the response to the arabians destroying the holy land. @@dsti-xi7dl The running gag of "pedofilia" 1. No empirical data exists that suggests that Catholic clerics sexually abuse minors at a level higher than clerics from other religious traditions or from other groups of men who have ready access and power over children (e.g., school teachers, coaches). The best available data reports that 4 percent of Catholic priests sexually violated a minor child during the last half of the 20th century with the peak level of abuse being in the 1970s and dropping off dramatically by the early 1980s. And in the recent Pennsylvania grand jury report only two cases were reported in the past dozen years that were already known and dealt with by authorities (thus the grand jury report is about historical issues and not about current problems of active clerical abuse now). Putting clergy abuse in context, research from the US Department of Education found that about 5-7 percent of public school teachers engaged in similar sexually abusive behavior with their students during a similar time frame. While no comprehensive studies have been conducted with most other religious traditions, a small scale study that I was involved with found that 4 percent of Anglican priests had violated minors in western Canada and many reports have mentioned that clerical abuse of minors is common with other religious leaders and clerics as well. Let me be clear: All child abuse is horrific. Take care.
I live 10 minutes out of allentown and I just made the decision to convert to Catholicism pretty much a week before all this came out. I had no idea how close this was to my very own home until I googled it and it hit me in the face. This won't stop me from converting but it's so surreal.
I will pray for you. And welcome home. The most important thing is knowing why you're converting. It's not for another human, it's for Jesus. Because you believe in Him. His real presence in the Eucharist. Because the Church is true.
Thank you Fr. Mike. "Don't LEAVE the Church, LEAD the Church." Well said. Never been prouder to be a Catholic than this crap being exposed and those responsible being held accountable. This will not cause me to leave. Never. Ever. My Faith is in my Church who are its members, other parishioners, priests, deacons, sisters and yes, even bishops and cardinals that are truly holy and good people. My Faith is with my God, my Faith does not depend on men. Be bold. Be proud. Be Catholic!
Totall agree!! My faith is in Jesus Christ and His Church as well as in those faithful priests, bishops, cardinals, seminarians, religious orders and laity! ➕JuT❤
It IS full of child predators and they are protected by the Church. Even the pope instead of doing anything about it attacked victims in Chile, accusing them of slander. And isn’t father Mike in Duluth? Then how can he claim to have known nothing about this when his own diocese is one of many that had to declare bankruptcy because they had to pay millions to abuse victims? And it also just happens that they don’t have bishop because the one the pope appointed, Michael Malloy, turned out to be a rapist. Just another bad apple?

Dear Father Mike, thanks for you courage and for not being afraid to show your anger, hurt, and disgust. You and the thousands of other good priests and religious in the Church give us hope and witness to the presence Christ in our midst. Please don't get discouraged. Thanks for the courageous witness you give by wearing your clericals in public, in spite of the disdain people give. I go through the same reactions when I wear my religious habit. As a survivor of childhood abuse this video is a breath of fresh air. You're stating the obvious but so often when it comes to sexual abuse even the obvious things don't get said out loud the whole nature of response to rape is to sweep it under the rug. Put it on the back burner and try and forget about it. So to have someone just come out and state things like "those kids did nothing wrong." Is healing its validating and I really appreciate your sincerity. God bless you and the work your doing 💜
You survived these men? You are my sister, yet choose to open your arms to the devils and their ilk? I am heartbroken to see and hear these travesties of justice and peace for the millions of our brothers and sisters who suffered at their hands. This con man and zealot comes to make amends for millions? And what about the men who remain as high as the church goes, who hid and moved and lied about thousands of abusers, and let them continue their evil, disgusting and devilish deeds?! WHAT ABOUT THEM? Father Mike ANSWERS TO THEM!!! Where are his scrupulous morals and his tearful outrage for these men whom make his rules and give him homage and a church to practice his profound hypocrisy? I fear for you sister, and weep for your broken heart that remains looking to the demons for solace and somehow believe you found it…Remember, these men are only hiding what their lord brought to the light. They will work in the dark, as devils do, and continue to lick their devilish lips at the taste of children’s tears and blood, sneakily waiting for their weakest of prey, all while smiling and bowing to you to use you as a shield to perpetuate their innocence. There is the blood and sex of millions on their hands…My blood and sex. Shameful…
Well said! I'm a Protestant 50yrs of age and I'm being called to the Catholic Church. I don't know why, but I am. It's a journey that started almost 2 years ago. I'm going to join the Church because it is Christ's Church.
I’m born catholic but I knew nothing abt Christianity. I met som ppl who were Anglican and I started to attend to their weekly meeting . I started to read the Bible and to search on the internet for so many answers coz they started to talk abt Virgin Mary , the communion , the confession , the icons in the church , the rapture and the Millennium and so many other things . I felt it wasn’t right, that’s why I started to do my research . Jesus words was direct in all his words but sadly they follow nothing out of it , they translate it as they want . So coz of I attend to an Anglican Church meeting I became catholic more than ever . I love my brothers and sisters in the Anglican Church but we discuss a lot when we open a subject . I go to this meeting coz I’m from Lebanon and live in Denmark .. the only Arab Christian meeting I found is this . But I go to my catholic danish mass every Sunday . Bless u all
A few nights ago I was praying before bed and I asked God to show me what he wants me to do for my vocation, and as funny as it sounds, I dreamt that Fr. Mike Schmitz came to one of my classes and was talking about the Priesthood. I remember everyone loved him and thought he was such a cool guy. I didn't think much about it but I feel like that was a sign and this is another sign that maybe I'm being drawn to the Priesthood. I'm still discerning it, life is just crazy. Anyway thank you Fr. Mike Schmitz, I can honestly say that these videos brought me to the faith. Thank you and God bless!
Run away while you're still an honest man. Jesus left his church because they were too picky about work on the Sabbath - not because they were raping thousands of kids, seminarians, and nuns. (I'm not sure he would have even joined a church with that much raping.) Both hypocrisy and excessive raping are sound scriptural reasons for not joining the Church. "Sop touching the unclean thing". Jesus said, "Seek and you will find". You'll never 'find' him in this spiritual rubbish heap. Be like Jesus. The truth has set you free. Knock their dust off your sandals. Pick up your bed and walk. Charles Snarls Jesus didn't leave the Church...Jesus is the Church.. Jesus came to fulfill the Covenant. Jesus surrounded Himself with sinners and we are all sinners. Jesus didn't come for the righteous, He came to save sinners, and like it or not, Jesus died on the Cross to save the sins of those priests if they are truly contrite, God will have mercy on them because God is love and mercy! Where is your faith..in man or God. The majority of priests are good and holy. We are not meant to do this alone ....we are one Body in Christ; He is the one Shepherd with one flock...I'm sure Jesus wasn't planning 40,000 different denominations with different interpretations of the Bible! We are supposed to be brothers and sisters in Christ! My truth takes me to the Catholic Church..the Church that Jesus established, to the Church that gave you the Bible, to where their are still good and holy priests that bring us Jesus in the Holy Eucharist! I could not abandon Jesus! My prayers are for the victims and that they receive God's healing Grace's! As a Church, it is up to all of us to make sure that all are held accountable and this doesn't happen anymore. Where evil abounds, grace abounds even more!
I'm a United Methodist minister. This may the best pastoral response I've ever heard on the topic. Well done! LEAD don't leave. Love it. A true Word from God.
@@marta9127 Not sure if you are talking to me or someone else, but if you are talking to me, then I would say its more important to focus on fixing the problem of a cultural norm of priests sexual involvement with children, and not on personal judgements of other people. Cheers.
@@AndrewDoe777 No, it wasn't for you ;) I'm astonished how people are inconsistent in their beliefs and what they say, that's all. And it is more shocking when they are spiritual leaders...
We are Catholic not because of priests and bishops, we are Catholic because of God. No matter what happens because of the humanity of other church members, God will overwhelming overshadow them all will his love, grace, and mercy.
We talk about the huge cover-up machine working in every country, almost every diocese. The pattern was/is the same all over the world. It means it is the system that's damaged and the institution is corrupt. Even if the paedophilia is about 2% of priests it is not about numbers, but about the fact how did the bishops and the Vatican deal with it. This is the real problem. The fact that these so called "fathers" and "shepherds" who supposed to guide and protect have intentionally developed the cover-up mechanisms and made sure they worked. Does paedophilia exists outside the Church? Yes! But the tragedy here is more painful, because of the moral authority these priests claim to have. And it would look differently if they were punished severely, if they were handed in to the police by their superiors. But the most sickening part is that their bishops let them offend more and more children. They didn't care. Now, their remorse and sorrow is fake. I don't believe when they say they are sorry for what has happened. I think they apoligize only because the scandal went public and they couldn't silence the victims anymore The same in every country. If they understood what they preach they wouldn't sweep away paedophilia but rather fight it right away. The answer is simple - not about all of the priests and bishops, but about the system and institution and many people in charge - they don't believe what they preach. "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."
I had known about priests abusing children and for a very long time I refused to go to a Catholic Church because of this. I finally realized that not all priests are like this. I started crying when I saw you get emotional about this subject. It must be so hard to tackle this subject right now.

I understand your point about virtue signaling, but Fr. Mike, we listen to you and trust you... I've been waiting for you to say something because I want the comfort of hearing a trustworthy, virtuous priest doing the right thing.
But have you asked yourself why you've been waiting for Fr. Mike to comment against sin? The comfort you seek doesn't come from Fr. Mike but from the God he serves, Who by the way is available to you, as well. Put your trust in those things above and you'll find comfort and peace.
Hi @all2common1 - I appreciate your comment! Absolutely comfort comes first and most importantly from God. But just as we might appropriately reach out to a friend or family member, or even the saints in times of need, it doesn't take away from my trust or comfort in God to find comfort in hearing Father Mike talk on this horrible subject. Peace and blessings on you!
@@jeaninnehozian984 Have you never found comfort in a parent or loved one in addition to the comfort of Jesus? In times of grief such as the death of someone dear to me, I first was comforted in Jesus Christ. The love and comfort of friends was welcomed also and did aid in my comfort during my time of grief. As a Catholic I'll be honest. The sex scandal around the Catholic Church has pulled me away from my spirituality. After watching this video it painfully showed me that there are good preists like Fr. Mike who found the scandal appalling. God bless you sir.
The Bible warns us that bad people are everywhere and not just in church. Even in your own family you can have evil people. And it's our job to avoid them
Thank you Fr Mike. In my 66 years of life I have encountered many many priests. The majority have been good and holy men and it breaks my heart when people paint them with the same brush as the predators are painted. A calling or a profession is made up of individuals. They shouldn't be assumed to be corrupt or cruel because of the actions of a few. I pray for all the victims of abuse and I also pray for all the good clergy, and they are mostly all good.
I'm sure there were some good Pharisees and Sadducee but Jesus rejected them as a group for religious Hypocrisy. Hypocrisy was enough to turn Jesus away - what would he have said if they were raping thousands of children and covering it up! The hypocrisy alone should make you shout, "You are white-washed graves...your house is abandoned to you!"
Charles Snarls Charles ..Jesus came to save us from our sins...He called out the hypocrites..yes..but he also knew that there had been, was and would be sinners! He took our sins, took the pain and died to save us...all...not only the liars or the gossipers or the hypocrites..but the murders, the rapists, abusers, prostitutes! He said the person who is the worst sinner is most deserving of His Mercy if they repent! People can repent! We have a most merciful and generously loving God who loves us all regardless of what we do! We can never out do God's mercy but trust me if we don't start showing a little down here, don't expect it when you face God!
I just found out that at least 6 priests in my former all-boys Catholic High School in New York were involved in these type of crimes over a period of 35 years. Fortunately, I was never preyed upon, but I was left feeling like Diogenes looking for “one honest priest”. This video has been extremely helpful to me. The entire 23rd chapter of Matthew in the account of Jesus leaving the Jewish Establishment because of their hypocrisy, that is, they taught one thing but did another. He compared them to white-washed graves (because they pretended to be Holy but they were, morally, full of skeletons). He finished his condemnation with, "now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate". Matt. 23:38 This is a Bible-based appropriate response to the Catholic Church. They obviously do not practice what they preach, the truth has set you free of any obligation you may feel to the 'Fathers'. There are motorcycle gangs you can join that have cleaner criminal records and you get to ride motorcycles! Keep searching for the truth. (I do make videos that you might enjoy, or be horrified by.)
I am a revert too. I will never leave again. I love being Catholic and I love the Church. I understand the grace of God so much more as I live out my faith through the Sacraments. Responding to God’s call in my heart has been the most humbling and fulfilling experience. I love Catholic radio. I learn so much from listening. I love that the Church is not afraid to discuss difficult subjects. I love visiting Jesus in Adoration and attending Mass during the week when I am off of work. He is my peace. He is the source and summit of the Christian walk. I am Catholic. Where else would I go? He has the words of eternal life. I am home.

Because we know that you have the courage when it’s not easy. We love you Father Mike, and you’re so much more than just a priest from Minnesota, you’re a future Saint!
Amen to that! 🙏❤ I 1000% agree with you! I'm a cradle Catholic and I wish that there were more priests like Father Mike. I am now in my late 50s and starting to encounter a few more priests that's are like a Father Mike. There is hope. We need to keep praying for priests/seminarians and their vocations. 🙏🙏🙏
Good Bye Good Men is a huge eye opener as to why our Church is suffering from a lack of vocations. God bless you Father Mike. You are in mine and my family's prayers.
I challenged all of you to pray the Rosary to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the reparation of ALL sins and offense against the Church. This is what we CAN do, we must do, we are called to do...Our Church need us to remain in Her!
Lady, theres plenty of scripture similar to this, but you must pray to Jesus, because you need to remain in HIM not her. Dont love her more than Jesus. Read Bible. John 15:5 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Colossians 2:6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him. 2 John 1:9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
In addition to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the Most Holy Rosary: Our Lady of Sorrows Chaplet and especially the Divine Mercy Chaplet along with Adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ. Much penance, fasting, almsgiving and prayer, acts of reparation and merciful works are what is needed.➕JuT❤
Madame Poovie we werent talking about eucharist. Please, if you want to discuss something, use Bible chapter and verses, thank you. Yet you didnt properly responded to my comment about how relationship works between us and Christ. Hes The Mediator, not Mary. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Luke 11: 27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” 28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
My brother was harmed by the scandal in Pennsylvania first and so was I. I'm in my 50s now and still need counseling because of the aftermath. They church gave my brother a check and for me they are paying for the counseling and I do believe they are trying to "rectify" for lack of a better word, the damage that was caused.. It affected me and confused me in ways I cannot describe here, and although I wandered from the faith, God reeled me back in. For those who would judge the Church or abandon their faith because of this scandal, please remember that the Church is not simply a bureaucratic organization of Priests and Bishops, and buildings, it is the community of the faithful believers, living in the body of Christ. I believe the great majority of the Priests and Bishops are true believers and not pedophiles. While it angers me that some of them turned a blind eye, (it angers me even more on how it saddened my parents) I still feel bad for those Priests such as Fr. Mike, who have to suffer for things they themselves did not do.

And it would look differently if they were punished severely, if they were handed in to the police by their superiors. But the most sickening part is that their bishops let them offend more and more children. They didn't care. Now, their remorse and sorrow is fake. I don't believe when they say they are sorry for what has happened. I think they apoligize only because the scandal went public and they couldn't silence the victims anymore. The same in every country. If they understood the Bible they wouldn't sweep away paedophilia but rather fight it right away. The answer is simple - not about all of the priests and bishops, but about the system and institution and many people in charge - they don't believe what they preach. "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."
So very sorry for all of the MANY MANY MANY good, Holy, Devout clergy who are suffering by being compared to those who abused others. Absolutely praying for those who were abused. May Our Lord help bring healing and peace to all who need it.
Why did they say they didn’t feel for the kids? It’s is entirely possible to feel awful for those amazing kids that had the strength to come forward and at the same time feel sorry for the men being condemned that did not do anything.
Did you NOT see what I put in my post " Absolutely praying for those who were abused?" OF COURSE I FEEL SORRY for the kids and all of those abused!!!!! The best thing I can do for the abused is pray for them to have healing and peace. Don't you think GOOD HOLY DEVOUT PRIESTS and clergy who have NEVER stepped a toe out of line HURT FOR THOSE THAT were abused by their fellow clergy. They hurt very badly because they KNOW when they were ordained they were put in positions of TRUST! AND that some of their fellow clergy abused that trust in the worst way is heartbreaking for them even more so than the rest of us.
My heart is breaking for the victims, for my beautiful church and for all the good priests that are looked upon with accusing eyes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and being emotionally vulnerable in front of the world.
Jennifer Romano expressed my thoughts so very well. I've been so sad! Sad for every one involved, direct victims, their family, the Church & the persons who allowed the devil use them. Thanks for the talk/ video fr. Mike,it has helped in no small measure.
Fr. Mike Not every abused child. (Former) looks on The Church as the culprit. Mine was at the hands of "Family". I turned my back on The Church because, in my young mind, God allowed it to happen. Five years ago, I came Home. Returned to The Catholic Church... I have a pendulum bothering me at this time. The rumors have always been there about the abuse. As a family, we stopped celebration around 1968,when my parents divorced, and I truly hated God, as a child for tearing my world apart. I will not abandon Christ's Bride, ever again, but The Church must firmly resolve, with the help of His Grace, to confesss all sins, administer penance, to sin no more, and to avoid and stay guarded against sins of every kind. Ken Gragg
Ken I'm so sorry for your suffering. Thank you for coming back to the Church. And thank you for challenging the church to reach out to all those suffering. Someone should have walked with you when you were hurt as a child, letting you know it's ok to be angry at God for a time. Someone should have been praying with you to know that you are loved by the Father and he would never abandon you as you felt. BE THAT LIGHT to others now. God bless.
Hi, thank you for sharing your story. I have been writing about God's providence for kids as part of the Sunday school lessons I have been handling in a catholic school. I have little apprehensions if children can also try sometimes to be questionable about God's credibility and authenticity when they face certain frustrations at such a young age. I subscribed to the idea that children are innocent but do not mean they are stupid or NOT susceptible to any malicious influence and thinking, especially in the kind of world we live in today. But my colleagues are just like most other parents and teachers who are contented with the perception that kids are just kids and there is no serious attention needed to delve them deeper into God's words yet. Say a few bible stories, and that's it. That's how they were accustomed to do things. But I know I am a different kind of teacher. I know that knowledge about God must be instilled as soon as possible. Telling and relating the bible stories to them in a special way is one way for the kids to understand the bible principles from which they have to follow all through their lives. I came across the story of Moses that part when God's providence for his life began to manifest the moment he was found and saved by the Princess of Egypt in the Nile River. Moses was not only saved from Pharaoh's death order but Moses himself also became a free man and a prince of Egypt. It was all part of God's great plan for His life. Free him from slavery so that one day, Moses will be the one to save God's people from slavery too. This is the part where I have thought about the idea of kids experiencing badness in the world and not knowing where to seek wisdom and light. Moses' story was a good example of that. Many bad things happened to him. He was born a slave, he was almost got killed, he was separated by his mother, all for good reasons. This is what I wanted to teach the kids. I wanted them to understand God's Providence. His purposeful reason for governing our lives. For allowing and letting us experiencing badness because, in the end, he has a good plan for our lives. This good plan might not just be destiny, but a lesson to learn from. Thank you for sharing your story. Because now I know, children do sometimes feel the need to question the terrible things happening around them. The people around me are all convinced that children are too young to understand these things. But for me, there is no limitation in what children are able to comprehend. They are children but they feel things too, and sometimes they feel it deeper than we do. Hence; resulting to traumas and other psychological issues.

If someone falls, everyone in the Church gets damaged. We must pray a lot for our beloved Church... Satan is reporting too much victories. As you said, we should be saints, refusing to compromise with the demons. Greetings (and prayers) from Siena.
Thank you Fr. Mike! This video is well received. God gave me this wonderfully strange gift of seeing numbers and know they have a meaning, so in my world the time of this video has a story to tell. The time length of this video is 16:33 John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have hardship, but be courageous: I have conquered the world. Grace and blessings be with you on your journey!
Fr. Mike, I grew up in St. Canice parish in Pittsburgh PA. 4 of 5 of the priests who were a part of my formation were named in that report. I was not abused at all. I had such a hard time reconciling my reality...that the same men who journeyed with me as I encountered the Sacraments, as I found my passion for Jesus...those same men hurt others. I was numb and confused. God blessed me with Fr. Chuck at St Lawrence in Tampa who took time to listen to me, to pray with me, help me understand that God can accomplish good through impure vessels. Just as the good I received doesn't excuse the deviant sins against other kids, the fact that others were hurt does not discount my faith journey in that parish. It took a lot for me to be okay with that reality. I pray for healing for those who were hurt. I pray for our Church. And I pray with a grateful heart for my parents who taught me how to live my faith and for those who continue to teach me. I am prayerfully thankful for you. God bless you! LAPOC! (Love and peace of Christ)
Lead? Where are you going? "The truth will set you free." Now that you know that the Church is just a smiling face hiding a gang of perverts you may seek Jesus elsewhere. Good luck finding him. He left the church a long, long, time ago. Run!
@Caroline You turn a blind eye, justify their evil deeds, continue to give money so they can pay out victims and protect their sadistic priests, lie to yourself that it's only a few bad apples. A little leaven, leavens the whole lump.
I’ve watched a lot of videos and never seen him emotional. This one really hit Fr. Mike to the core. As someone who is in the process of converting to Catholicism this is important for me to see.
I can understand what you say father . Being a cop for 31 years i have reported and even arrested bad cops who put a doubt in our work , it took years for some of those specialy the high up ones or connected ones to be finaly dealt with . All cops were looked at as being corrupt because of them . Then finaly when they met justice it cleared some others of doubts that had been put on them . It is very very hard to talk about before it is settled cause like you say it looks more like ''I ' am great i am not them '' Be it the Church doctors, cops , or any job that deals with children and adults . Hollywood we are accustumes to but those we beleive in it is so much more difficult to realise that they also have some bad elements . I am Catholic and always shall be
What % of cops were bad cops? One in a hundred? What percent of Philly priests were bad? One in ten? I'd would rather leave my kids with the Hell's Angels the the Catholic Church, they have zero tolerance for child molesters - try messing with their kids. Don't take so much spiritual advice from a man or an institution that mixes Gold and God.
Salvation is of the Lord. For it is by God's grace that anyone is saved, through their faith in Jesus alone! That is biblically correct and true! The Roman Catholic Church preaches a false gospel, which isn't a gospel at all. They believe in another Jesus, one whose shed blood isn't enough to cleanse anyone's sins. They preach that Mary was born without sin, when in Roman's chapter 3 and verse 23 the Apostle Paul writes, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." So, if you aren't God, then you are part of "all", and Mary isn't God. She was a sinner used by God to bring His Son into the world. She was a sinner in need of a Savior. She was a vessel that God chose. She was a believer and followed God, thus she was a good, Godly vessel, but still a sinner nonetheless.
Both cops and priests are the corrupt positions of authority. Neither can any longer be trusted. They all cover for each other and those that say they are not like them are covering their own butts.
Praying for our brothers in BLUE. We are all measured by the ruler of the unmeasured. It's unfair, but we don't live in a fair world. Keep the faith brother.
Just found this video. I’ve seen Fr Mike in any videos and I can say your a good man who is genuinely broken hearted over this. I’m a retired police detective and I’ve invested many child abusing cases, I can see true hurt in you Father. These cases are so heart breaking while also enraging. It disgusts me every time. The man wants to rip the perp apart but I know that’s not what Jesus would have done so every time I had to rein myself in and take a deep breath and give that side to Jesus. Thank you Fr Mike for all you do. God bless you.
Father this is so sad. Evil want to destroy the church but, he will never fulfill. Jesus will not leave us alone. Mathew 28, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Fr. Mike you really are God's soldier. Keep posting your videos I get so much from them. The pope is visiting us here in Ireland this weekend, please pray for us we are at a turning point x
There will always be evil men, but on the flip side there will always be kind, good, Godly men. Thank you for being a faithful Godly man and addressing this sickness. You are a light at the end of the tunnel. I appreciate and applaude your honesty and your heartfelt honest response. Even though this is hurting us as Catholics I for one am not leaving the church, she is my rock and my refuge. I stand firm with my faith and I pray for all those who have been harmed by these men who led them into darkness and dispair. May justice be swift and may healing begin.
As the last secret of Fatima reveal that the enemy will try to enter the lives of the faithful but it will not take long because God will crash down the enemy and the true church will stand more firm to holiness
Thank you, Father Mike. Things are really scary right now. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I'm glad you're upset. Thank you for speaking out because a lot of people are twisting the truth. Please pray for healing within the Church.
Thank you Fr. Mike. I know I watched this waaaay after you posted it however this was very impactful for me. My family has suffered greatly by this scandal - it has impacted two of my siblings and their children. It has impacted me. Another sibling has stopped talking to us because of our outspokenness. My family hurts however that has not stopped me from continuing on this earthly mission. You summed it up well Father - don’t leave but lead! That is what I’m doing. Thank you for all you do for the Bulldog Ministry and the virtual pew!
Thank you Father. My husband and I are both Catechist for RCIA and 3rd grade. We realize that instead of pointing out what could or should be done-take action and lead. Right now, we are leaning on each other for strength. We understand this is a real important time not to back off from teaching and actions. Thank you Heavenly Father for working through Fr. Schmitzs to bring us this message. Thank you Fr. Schmitz for all that you do. Much Love from Las Vegas. God Bless you. 🙏
22Vanilla Latte That is wonderful. The church needs all the help it can get. This vocation is a calling. The Lord spoke to you and you answered. I’m so happy for your journey. God Bless ✝️ you- and Thank you. I will be be praying 🙏 for you.
This is Catholicism! Is it so hard to believe a Church that burned 'heretics', 'homosexuals' and witches' to death for centuries has degenerated into a organized gang of child-molesters. Jesus left his church because they were too picky about work on the Sabbath - not because they were raping thousands of kids, seminarians, and nuns. (I'm not sure he would have even joined a church with that much raping.) Jesus said, "Seek and you will find". You'll never 'find' him in this spiritual rubbish heap. Be like Jesus. The truth has set you free. Knock their dust off your sandals. Pick up your bed and walk. Follow Jesus (truth) wherever that takes you.
Thankyou Father for your words. I'm a Catholic Homeschool Mom. Teaching my teen and toddler. Your videos always inspire me as a parent. Thank you. I'm looking forward to my teen confirming her faith this year. I'm hopeful and love God. I will keep following Jesus. Let us all lead and help our families learning the word of God.
I cannot explain what this video meant to me. About an hour ago I accidentally started reading an article on" the vanity fair "site on the "gay lobby" in the church, and it rocked my faith. Of course I have always assumed the church to have imperfect people since we are all human, but the details to which the article went was so so disturbing that I felt my heart sink to the floor. I even texted two of my friends who also love the church in the hope of getting some consolation about this article plus the recent scandals but it's midnight in India and I guess they are sound asleep. This is not rational probably but just seeing that u put up this video exactly when i was desperately seeking some re assurance immediately brought me so much peace!! Then seeing how heartfelt this message and what a good person you are reminds me again of all the good despite all the bad. You are a blessing. You and all the good, anointed, wonderful priests who serve the lord. Thank you a million times for this!!!god bless:)
Who runs the Church? Men? Satan? Or the Holy Spirit? Or do they (as it seems) take turns? You need to consult someone who isn't a paid and dedicated apologist for the Church. Yes, he's encouraging, but what is He encouraging you to do? Sit back and take more? Its all smoke and mirrors, incense and theater. Go, the truth has set you free, start your new life now.
1. Thank you for the comments on virtue vs. virtue signaling. It helps me understand why our (and other) priests are not speaking out as vocally and loudly. B. It isn't my faith that is shaken as much as maybe my trust in the hierarchy and humans in power. The words, where am I to go, came to mind. iii. I will head the call to lead the church, in whatever way I can; to do what I can to help heal the wounds, and right the wrongs.
Thank you Fr. Mike. What a heartfelt and annointed message for all of us to hear. I pray the Church will prosecute these Bishops, Priests, Cardinals etc. They can't just be removed because they will do it all over again. The Church needs to shine the entire light on this issue by prosecuting the offenders NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE. To me, that would show that the Church is serious about stopping this abuse once and for all and holding all accountable!
i was abused by a baptist preacher yes in Pennsylvania, i hate it when i tell people about my abuse they say it was my fault ...when i see clergy on youtube posting about this makes me realize that the victims/ surviviors are not alone rather its my faith or not .. thank you ❤️ ....
Father Mike, I made the mistake of trying to listen to this while I drive. It's extremely difficult to drive and SOB at the same time. Very well-spoken, thank you for your input. Honestly, I don't think you had anything to answer for. But thank you for your assurances and your words.
I´m a Priest too, and have experienced that hatred many times for things we haven´t done. Thanks for your words of encouragement and your testimony of life. Yes! the only solution is that you and I and all of us cooperate with all our strenght in letting God make us saints!
What we are talking about here is my wife!the only thing that matter is that…why we are sacrificing…why did we always quarrel…but the root if all of that is free…pretending to be a good priest and even having a mass though he is not that qualified to priest!i’m sorry if i hurt your feelings…just openning up what is in real life!…not all priest are with God…some are just pretending!GOdbless!
I'm in the Catholic church because I read the early church fathers and it's NOT about the priests. I'm there for the Eucharist. Jesus meant what he said and said it CLEARLY. This is my Body. PERIOD.
But there is no Eucharist without a priest..If Jesus is the High Priest then all Priests take after him. We cannot truly separate priesthood and the Eucharistic.
@@Dee-ur9zq Nope. They serve mass in "Persona Christi " (in the person of Christ.) There is a difference between the human man as a priest and broken........ and The Lord. The priests are fallible and NOT perfect. And I wouldn't trust Fr. James Martin to make oatmeal for me!!!!!!
And in the human failings of a priest, he can still consecrate the Eucharist as well as give absolution in Confession. That's what in Persona Christi is about.
Nothing like cannibalistic rituals...yum! Exactly what part of his body do you think you’re eating? Really kind of disgusting when you think about it...isn’t it?
I had to pause the video and pray for all those who had been hurt when seeing Father Mike getting emotional. The pain is something that I can never imagine.
God bless you too Fr Mike! I can't say enough how much of an inspiration and a leader you are to those who view these videos! May Jesus keep you and may Mary and Joseph watch over you!
Being on the executive board of the Catholic community on my college campus and in the midst of this trying to figure out how to cope with it as being fact and all the high tension emotion, I think I am going to try and enter that as our mantra. Don't leave the church, lead the church. So powerful. Thank you for your words of encouragement in such a dark time.
Jesus said, "Seek and you will find". You'll never 'find' him in this spiritual rubbish heap. Jesus left his church because they were too picky about work on the Sabbath - not because they were raping thousands of kids, seminarians, and nuns. (I'm not sure he would have even joined a church with that much raping.) Be like Jesus. The truth has set you free. Knock their dust off your sandals. Pick up your bed and walk. Follow Jesus (truth) wherever that takes you. Go, my sister!
Listening to the media, one would think this is unique to the Catholic church. Abuse occurs in every walk of life, every religion, every profession. - Protestant Christians, followers of Islam (look at the "dancing boys of Afghanistan") teachers, coaches, Boy scouts, doctors, etc., etc., etc. Personally, this scandal has me going to Mass more often and deepening my faith, not running away.
You remind me of the Bible verse "like dogs returning to their own vomit". Is it so hard to believe a Church that burned 'heretics', 'homosexuals' and witches' to death for centuries has degenerated into a organized gang of child-molesters. There are motorcycle gangs you can with cleaner criminal records. The don't pretend to represent God and no one messes with their kids. Good riding to you!
Charles Snarls, why don't you read up on what the Catholic Church IS, instead of what you think it is. Were the other 11 apostles judged by the actions of Judas? Did they leave Jesus for what Judas did? It's a good thing they did not.
I was raised Catholic, which is why I'm sympathetic to you're lack of bible knowledge. Don't be "like a dog returning to it's own vomit." " "Satan transforms himself into an Angel of light." "After me, wolves will come in..." Here are some passages they rarely point out; "a little leaven ferments the whole loaf." 'If the blind lead the blind will they not both fill into the pit?" "Whitewashed graves, beautiful on the outside but inside are full of dead men's bones." " If your foot is making you stumble, cut it off..." "Hypocrites, you house is abandoned to you!" The 11 apostles followed Jesus, it should be obvious the Church is built around Judas, (they betray the innocent for thirty pieces of silver). Jesus warned, "I;m sending you out as sheep among wolves." Welcome to the Church of the Wolves.
In other words, humans are of course in the Church, but we can't lose faith in it. Jesus had to entrust the Church to humans. He knew there would be problems. He still did it. The struggle for perfection is what it's all about.
I’m a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and I’m also the wife of a pastor. These scandals in the Catholic Church have left me very angry and convinced that Catholic leadership is apathetic about this problem. THANK YOU for showing me your heart in this-for showing that you care. I appreciate it more than I can say, Fr. Mike.
I'm so sorry you were a sexual abuse victim - I can't fathom that kind of hurt. As a Catholic (convert), please know that we have been shocked, saddened, devastated and so disappointed by this evil. Very strict measures are enforced now, for which I'm grateful. We will weather this storm, but Satan is full-tilt boogie against us. God bless you.
For a time, I was a facilitator for Safe Environment training and I always felt that it is every member of the Church to keep a watchful eye on our children and even our vulnerable adults. It is heartbreaking to hear of these things happening, but like Fr Mike said, we must lead.
We are all sinners. We are human, priests too. We are not perfect. I am a catholic and proud to be no matter the sin. I could never desert God in His time of need. Pray more novenas are doing a novena starting today for the victims and the truth. I’m praying for the abused, abusers and all those who this has affected. Join me in saying Hail Mary....
Father mike I saw this video when it first came out but today my pastor mentioned this video in his homily and mentioned how everyone should watch it since this issue is so close to home (we are in the diocese of Pittsburgh) he made clear your message to not leave the church but LEAD THE CHURCH. Thanks for touching on this topic and honestly making a huge impact on my parish and my fellow parishioners.
This is the time to return to the Catholic church, not leave. I returned 6 months ago, after a 25 year battle to overcome myself, thanks to the grace of God. It has been the best move of my life.
Why would I want to abandon Jesus and his church now. I want to console him. I love my church, my faith community...they are not the problem. Blame our sinful humanity and rise above. God bless you Father Mike. Priests like you have made a huge difference in our lives.. Thank you.
Thank you Fr. Mike for opening up about this. I am sorry that the guilty by association fell on you. The "Don't Leave LEAD"! Is the best thing you, or the other innocent Priest's can do. I just finished The Bible In A Year podcast. I was so hungry to hear about the Lord, I started listening to that every chance that I had. I'm older and live alone so I have lots of free time. I started listening on December the third, 2023 and finished January 29, 2024. I reallt want to start it again, even though I just finished it today. Once again Thank You.
This video is very needed Fr. Mike. So many people trust you and need to be comforted in there Faith when something this evil comes to light. I was saved a few years back in a Protestant Church and I follow your videos because I Love to learn about the beauty and support of the Catholic Church. I guess you could say I hear the call to Catholicism through you and Bishop Barron. But this whole thing has really hurt me and my Faith in a way I cant really explain. So thank you for this video and I am very grateful to the Lord for you.
I think I can explain... Stop taking spiritual advice from people you would trust to babysit.
Thank you Fr. Mike for doing this video. It was so hard to watch because I know what the victims are experiencing. I was not sexually abused by a priest. My father sexually abused me. I know this is not as bad as being sexually abused by a priest. But to my child mind when the priest told us to honor our father and mother that to me was saying that what they did was okay and I was the bad one. So it hurts when all this comes out and I am struggling to try to heal from all this garbage. Yes I have to admit I did leave the church for a long time. But I did come back and no I won't walk away again. Jesus needs each of us to be saints and prayer warriors. Pray for our Church, priests, deacons, bishops, Pope, those abused or anyone else that has been hurt by the church, and this is the hardest pray for the abuser and anyone else involved in the cover up. Pray for all those angry people who are taking their anger out on priests. Make every breath you take be a prayer for healing for the whole world. God bless
why do you say that being sexually abused by your father is not as bad as being sexually abused by your priest? it is the same in that these are parental figures that have abused and taken advantage of your trust and love to demean and do despicable things to your body and soul! in fact, being abused by your father may even be worse because he is your father, your blood, the one who should be protecting, loving, schooling, and be a mentor to you, honor your father and mother as they are your parents but they too must honor their position and be a parent to you. your father sexually abusing you id not an honor of that bond between you, he broke it not you. you would've loved him as a father but he did not act and treat you as a father should. you are not bad, nothing you could ever do, no matter how naughty you think you were would ever justify such a treatment. he was bad, not you. if you cannot talk to your priest, try talking to someone to help you accept that you are of no fault with what happened to you as a child, the burden is your father's not your's. i hope you find peace one day and can find the strength to move on and to not let your father burden you with any guilt nor the thought that your pain is less than others
Thank you so much I just didn’t know what to say about this on my TH-cam Channel, my heart is breaking for the victims! Please pray for me to hear God’s voice if i should say something on my channel.
Perhaps say something from a mothers perspective? It may provide support for parents and their kids in the Church. Either way, God bless you! I am a subscriber to your channel.
Yes friend! I thought of maybe making a video about how to teach our kids to discern when to disobey authority. I think “obeying” is seen as a blanket statement thing when it comes to kids but I think that’s wrong. I teach my kids if authority is not imitating Christ, it’s your duty to disobey. You may be able to say it better. I love your videos! 😉
This isn't enough. We always need to strive to be saints. But the house is on fire now, again. We need to put out the fire and, this time, remove the sources of the fire from the house! We need to kick this filth from our midst and take away their pensions. All the while continuing to drive to be saints. Lead us father. Lead us.
...after all, it is the souls of these predatory priests which are most at risk as they have put the souls of so may others at risk in the wake of their own choosing of evil. Putting out this fire and removing the source of it is the first step towards the hopeful healing of their souls. When Jesus saw that doves were being sold in the temple he flipped the tables. Now that we are the Body of Christ, what are to do as we witness young men being sold into prostitution in the temple?!
Totally agree with you John. We need a swift, firm, strong response that includes removal from the collar and from all any financial pension or dispensation. A life of prayer and penance will begin IMMEDIATELY once all financial and priestly privileges are revoked by any abuser. In addition, the law of statutes of limitations need to be clawed back to have no time frame that a case can be reviewed and prosecuted. Remove the safety net from abusers altogether.
@@markmatthes1362 This is nothing short of the appropriate response. To paraphrase another speaker I follow, the lay's response to clergy should be "This is serious. We need help. You will not continue to treat us this way. We don't want to leave, but if our church is going to survive, it has to be a real church."
It's a major reason that I had been non-denominational for SO long. Trust issues developed over time, after everything I've experienced myself, hearing stories from family members about their horrible experiences, and things I hear in the news. I've never doubted the existence of our Triune God, but I had lost trust in people. I'm afraid of the abuse of authority figures within the church. But it's leaders like you that have helped me to recover from that fear of betrayal. Hope to see you again in the future real soon and give you another heartfelt thanks!
Graciously said Father Mike. We must pray for the victims, the fervent clergy, and the reparation of the Church and as you have said to us fellow Catholics not to leave the Church we must fight the good fight! God Bless you. Giuseppe, UK (we have spoken on Catholic Answers)
Thank you Fr. Mike for genuinely expressing how you feel. I come from a traditional catholic family with priests in my family and grew up with hanging out with priests who were so charitable and holy, Ive seen with my own eyes them serving people affected with leprosy back home in India, amazing priests, def. helped to strengthen my faith. We need to lead the church and bring it to Light like you said. This is time we stay strong and fight for the justice, take care of the ones affected and do everything we can to stop the corruption! Thanks you my brother in Christ.
Father Mike is a powerhouse who shows vulnerability (ultimate expression of strength) and kindness and courage through everything. I’m so grateful to have found his messages.
I am currently a catechumen, studying to become a Catholic. I was born Jewish but have believed in Christ for as long as I can remember. When the news of the Pennsylvania priest scandal hit, I began to second guess my decision to become a Catholic. Thank you , Father Mike, for this video about the scandal and your take on it. I am wondering, though, whether there is any exploration (and work on changing those aspects that are problematic) into the sub-culture of the Catholic Church, so that the abuse and covering up of abuse by priests and bishops are lessened over the coming years. It seems that this is a necessary aspect to correcting the problem.
I'm Jewish as well. My late husband, wanted me to raise our youngest son Catholic.I sent him to Catholic school (2 yrs. K to 1st) participated in all the activities.. I couldn't believe anymore. Took my son out of Catholic school and left the church..Sunday was then our breakfast in the park togetherness before I went to work and he went to school.. I did come on this site to see Fr. Mike because I wanted to hear his take on the scandal..I think the Holy Father has it right the main problem being clericalism..What gets me was ones saying, there are abuses in other religions..True.. there not being hidden either.. It's the rabbi, or pastor being booked, put in jail, trial..None of this "Playbook" stuff there talking about. I never heard it before... The Very Best..in your decision....
I was born and raised Catholic. I left when I was a late teen. Made my way thru a Protestant church and learned of the love of Jesus, then discovered conservative Anabaptists. I married and raised my family in the Anabaptist church. Now I've discovered that there are some truths in all three denominations, Along with some falsehoods. I consider myself a Jewish believer in the Messiah. Grafted in, of course.... if you continue with your journey into the catholic faith, remember Jesus (Yeshua) was a Jew. Dont forsake God's Torrah for Man made laws... Catholic rules, Protestant rules and Anabaptist rules are no different than the Rabbinic law that Yeshua preached against. Only God's law stands.... one important thing.... keep the Sabbath... and no, Sunday is not the Sabbath. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you journey, and serve the Jewish Messiah. Shalom!
Yes! Do not LEAVE the church but LEAD ...we are all called to be saints ,Thank you Father for your words of encouragement ,God bless.

Amen Charles. I too, walked form the church and He pursued me as he pursues us all. Thank you Lord Jesus Christ. St. Peter pray for us.
AMEN CHARLES! That's exactly what the apostle Peter said to Jesus when many chose to abandon him in John 6:53-66. GOD BLESS YOU BRO!
The bible says that gods children will be the most hated
God bless you. Praying for you and the rest of us, the body of Christ.
Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words! Please keep Fr. Mike in your prayers as well as Ascension!
Jesus left his church because they were too picky about work on the Sabbath - not because they were raping thousands of kids, seminarians, and nuns. Just found this channel and it's such a breath of fresh air for this returning Catholic.
They just post Father Mike because he is so handsome and good looking.
I am a protestant, but I have been praying fervently for you my Roman Catholic brothers and sisters in these last few days!
Thank you so much @cubanker
Thank you cubanker, we must stick together
Thank you brother
cubanker Q
What are you protesting against?
Thank you.
Leave your kids at home.

I couldn't respect you more, Father Mike.
Nuff said...good luck with your new path
Charles Snarls Wow. ! Well said. I’m disgusted at the RC Church. Can this Fr. Mike really be “surprised” with the disaster in Pennsylvania? This BS has been going on and known of for decades now. The problem isn’t homosexuality, it’s the church’s attitude toward sexuality across the board. People are not buying it.

The entirety of your comments breeds from misrepresentation of historic events such as the spanish inquisition and the crusades which were very diferent things. The crusades were the response to the arabians destroying the holy land.
(And slave trading 30,000 teenagers at one point)
All teachings of the catholic church are biblical ,the devil will sit in the seat of Peter and bring the fall of Rome in their faith.
The end times counter church who is not catholic is worse than the lutharan predestiantion of "evangelical" or "non denominational christians"
There seems to be an awfull lot of heretics in the comment section.

The running gag of "pedofilia"
Let me be clear:
All child abuse is horrific.
Take care.
I live 10 minutes out of allentown and I just made the decision to convert to Catholicism pretty much a week before all this came out. I had no idea how close this was to my very own home until I googled it and it hit me in the face. This won't stop me from converting but it's so surreal.
Be strong and all best !
The Church needs you!

I will pray for you. And welcome home. The most important thing is knowing why you're converting. It's not for another human, it's for Jesus. Because you believe in Him. His real presence in the Eucharist. Because the Church is true.

I am unbelievable upset that people think our entire church is full of child predators when their are so many holy people like Fr Mike

Shameful…

Bless u all

Follow Jesus (truth) wherever that takes you.
@@charlessnarls3902 ummm, did you even watch this video? Because that's the exact opposite of what Fr. Mike Schmitz said to do...

You're inconsistent, aren't you?
Amen!
AMEN. 🙏🏻

Don’t leave, lead. Those are good words to live by now and in the future. Thanks Fr Mike for the inspiring video.
Thank you Father Mike...I am praying for ALL priests. “We” are not the judge...”We” are called to PRAY, FAST, GIVE ALMS We are called to BE the Body of Christ! We need to remain faithful to our Church...”WHERE ELSE ARE WE TO GO? He [Christ] has the bread of eternal LIFE...
Prayers for you and husband!
I am so sorry your husband had to endure that, & that he still has to carry that cross to this day. Praying for him & for all those who have suffered
PATRICE HADSELL-EVANS The appeal of Our Lady in Fatima is still actual. We should pray the rosary everyday for our priesthood. I pray for them and I’ll pray for the comfort and cure of the victims. Your faith is inspiring, sister.
The priest is still active today??? How is that possible?
Thank you for standing up. Thank you for your voice, for holding them accountable. Please stay close to Our Lord and don't let the evil one drive you away from the the only One who will save us all. ❤
I formally defected from the church because of the deep, despair, anger and sadness I had over massive abuse scandals in my country. My faith died. I was completely lost for years. I reengaged about ten years ago through God’s grace. I am so grateful that baptism cannot be undone. I realised that the Church is much bigger than human sin and evil. Thanks Fr Mike, you lift my heart and soul. I’ve been lucky to have known some of the most wonderful, kind, loving, deeply holy priests in my life. These are the men who radiate God’s love .
Thank you father for speaking. It is a beautiful sign of your humility that you didn't understand why people would want to hear from you.
You do have an audience though, and we may not be your "flock" in your parish, but we desperately need the good shepherds to show us that they outnumber the dark and the evil. Thank you for sharing your faith and your humility.
Alex Navas I agree with you. We need our shepherds even if we are not of your parish, we are all ONE body. We need all of our good and holy priests to help us on this painful journey. We are praying for all our faithful bishops, priests, deacons, and other religious. We have to remain united against the one prowling about for the ruin of souls. He wants tear us apart. We must remain faithful even as God is faithful to us.

I'm really not sure where you are going with this comment. Jesus "left his church"? Please expand.
In the middle of all this, I had already decided to Revert. I was Catholic when I was young, and I'm returning now.
Aaron Veverka Welcome home Aaron! I will pray for you!!
i was catholic at one point now evangelical. im staying evangelical but i sometimes think about visiting a catholic church every now and then.
I am home.
@@theresemartin3075 thank you, and God bless you!
@@jrbknyc8785 I can never go back. I was a deacon in an evangelical church. I'll never go back to 40,000 flavors of who's right. Bless you though, I wish you well on your journey.
Father Mike! You definitely are NOT just some priest from Minnesota. You’re a man who has clearly allowed God to use him to build up His kingdom, and you have touched, impacted, and changed SO MANY young people’s lives. Any young Catholic I talk to says ‘Fr. Mike? I LOVE Fr. Mike! His videos are so amazing and so helpful!’ And that’s truly not an exaggeration, we love you so much. You are so wise and you’re changing the world. I really honestly believe you are a Saint on Earth. I’d just love it if you knew that we all hold you in the highest regard and we really really value your opinion, even if it’s what everyone thinks, and it doesn’t take courage.
Father your father is the lord Jesus Christ . Do you not know this .
THANK YOU FOR DOING A VIDEO ON THIS.

Good Bye Good Men is a huge eye opener as to why our Church is suffering from a lack of vocations. God bless you Father Mike. You are in mine and my family's prayers.
You got that right Heather!! Sadly no one wants to identify the REAL PROBLEM... RAMPANT EVIL ACTS BEING ALLOWED IN PRIESTHOOD!!
Do you have a pdf file of the book? I'm from the Philippines and don't have access to it?
like an audiobook? thanks!
Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
Colossians 2:6
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
2 John 1:9
Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
Luke 11: 27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”
28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

That is awful doll.. Most priests are infarious.....I live in the east coast early 50's. Heard many stories...
@@julieshelley9251 good grief! do you speak english? your reply makes no sense... not to mention stories are stories not facts...
Does paedophilia exist outside the Church?
Joy, a worthy prayer offering; so many good priests, so many broken hearts
You feel sorry for the good priest but you don't feel sorry for the raped kids???
@@teresauwajeh9931 Jen expressed mine,too!
Fr. Mike
Not every abused child.
God bless.
Where did you find the motivation?
How are you strong?

This video is well received. God gave me this wonderfully strange gift of seeing numbers and know they have a meaning, so in my world the time of this video has a story to tell. The time length of this video is 16:33
John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will have hardship, but be courageous: I have conquered the world.
Grace and blessings be with you on your journey!
Thanks for the Biblical reference. We all need to go to God's word more. It has power.
Wonderful observation. 16:33.

@@JOHNch4.v.v.7to10 you are misinformed. We do only believe in one Jesus who shed his blood for ALL our sins. Mary was without sin.
Thank you, Fr. Mike. Our family will continue to pray for priests and the victims.

There will always be evil men, but on the flip side there will always be kind, good, Godly men. Thank you for being a faithful Godly man and addressing this sickness. Thanks Father Mike! This is Catholicism: fight against the evil in the world, even this evil is so close.
Be like Jesus. kathycusumano2445- what about the victims?

It helps me understand why our (and other) priests are not speaking out as vocally and loudly.

iii. I will head the call to lead the church, in whatever way I can; to do what I can to help heal the wounds, and right the wrongs.
That what you don't speak out about you permit. What you permit, you promote. What you allow, you encourage. What you condone, you ow
I made the same mistake!
I'm an indian, even the church here in india is now rocked by a sexual scandal involving bishop ...please remember us in your prayers
I´m a Priest too, and have experienced that hatred many times for things we haven´t done. Thanks for your words of encouragement and your testimony of life. Yes! the only solution is that you and I and all of us cooperate with all our strenght in letting God make us saints!
Your a priest as well thats why you dont want to listen!maybe or probably…you are doing the same thing!
If all of you who are priest is not following what god wants us to do…how about us?we are just following you because we know…you are the sons of God
They serve mass in "Persona Christi " (in the person of Christ.)
There is a difference between the human man as a priest and broken........ and The Lord.
John 6:55 "For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink." You calling Jesus disgusting?
Fr. Mike... YOU are a HOLY PRIEST✨🙏🏼 Thank you for your TOTAL honesty & transparency...
Appreciate you, Fr Mike. Thankful for your priesthood.
Thank you for your honesty and your humility. Your words have been very healing.
Love your advice , lead the church!!!!
Thank you! YES! Do not LEAVE the church*LEAD....we are all called to be saints! My heart is so full of the LOVE of God!
A priest I knew was on that list. My heart aches for the victims
Also, the Church is not built around Judas, it's built around Peter. Imperfect and human as it is.
Father Mike what an amaizing prist you Are.God bless you🙏.From Croatia a big thank you❤️.
Shared this, glad to see a catholic priest honestly condemning these vile actions made by others. Thank you.
Thank you.
Ellen Price Very well said!
Pretty thoughtless of you to forget the victims of the abuse in question but not surprising since the Church has already done that for you as well.
very VERY well said
Brooke Therese Unfortunately it is going to get alot worse. God bless us all.
Beautiful name SISTER BLESS YOU 💕
Thank you Fr.
So proud of our good priests - thanks Fr Mike
This video is very needed Fr. Mike. So many people trust you and need to be comforted in there Faith when something this evil comes to light. I was saved a few years back in a Protestant Church and I follow your videos because I Love to learn about the beauty and support of the Catholic Church. I guess you could say I hear the call to Catholicism through you and Bishop Barron. But this whole thing has really hurt me and my Faith in a way I cant really explain. So thank you for this video and I am very grateful to the Lord for you.
I think I can explain... Stop taking spiritual advice from people you would trust to babysit.
...” Do not look at our sins but on the faith of our Church”... I always hold on to that...
Don't look at the wife's black eye but on the faith of the husband. So many people in this comment section sound like battered wives. I find it sad.
God bless
Jan S may God continue to bless you. I am sorry for the abuse.
Thank you
Jan S may God bless you, comfort you and heal every wound you bare. Thank you for your mercy
Thank you
why do you say that being sexually abused by your father is not as bad as being sexually abused by your priest? it is the same in that these are parental figures that have abused and taken advantage of your trust and love to demean and do despicable things to your body and soul! in fact, being abused by your father may even be worse because he is your father, your blood, the one who should be protecting, loving, schooling, and be a mentor to you, honor your father and mother as they are your parents but they too must honor their position and be a parent to you. your father sexually abusing you id not an honor of that bond between you, he broke it not you. you would've loved him as a father but he did not act and treat you as a father should. you are not bad, nothing you could ever do, no matter how naughty you think you were would ever justify such a treatment. he was bad, not you. if you cannot talk to your priest, try talking to someone to help you accept that you are of no fault with what happened to you as a child, the burden is your father's not your's. i hope you find peace one day and can find the strength to move on and to not let your father burden you with any guilt nor the thought that your pain is less than others
Thank you so much I just didn’t know what to say about this on my TH-cam Channel, my heart is breaking for the victims! Please pray for me to hear God’s voice if i should say something on my channel.
A Catholic Mom's Life - Point them to this video. Nothing more needs to be said.
Sit with Jesus in adoration, you will hear loud and clear what to say. God bless.

God Bless You Father Mike. Please, please continue your work and what are you are doing for the Catholic faith.
To paraphrase another speaker I follow, the lay's response to clergy should be
"This is serious. We need help. You will not continue to treat us this way. We don't want to leave, but if our church is going to survive, it has to be a real church."
Love you father mike
I love you Father Mike. I love your transparency and honesty. Thank you for speaking upon this subject. Even if it's a difficult subject.
Father Mike this so touched my heart.
Well said. Healing words. Authentic priest. Thankful God gave you this TH-cam platform. Love From Australia x
Will be praying for you. Hope you continue your studies.
@@marley-fm4dv Prayers for your family as well.
Shalom!
