I'm honestly amazed at the restraint of these people. How there aren't more murdered priests and torched churches is something of a mystery to me.

Grooming, creating usable triggers, and psychological programming are all the same thing and can be used for both benevolent and malevolent purposes. When these things are used for malevolent purposes, survivors may have to work past their programming before they take any type of action. That's probably why it takes 20 or more years for the people that DO come forward.

I keep watching shows on this topic and cannot fathom how anyone could look at those dear children and then violate their very souls. To survivors who are speaking out--bless you, dear ones, I'm so sorry for what you have suffered. Please continue the work you are doing to keep others safe from these horrible predator-priests.

Evil needs to destroy the beauty of the innocents. Hence, why do so many of these men who took a vow of charity end up being anything but chased? These men are evil incarnate.
However, I do wonder how many of them were themselves once the victims of the same acts they perpetrated on their victims and that they needed treatment before seeking to take the cloak of the priesthood if only they dared to have sought it.

It’s so important to not trust your children to scout leaders, music teachers, coaches, tutors, do not trust anyone as being a “good mentor” and allow any opportunities your child to spend time with someone after school, and beware of anyone (as nice as you and your child think they might be), from any extracurricular time together. For example, taking your child or teen out for pizza, ice cream, movie, etc. Never leave your child alone or in their care without other adults and students or even you waiting while they have a lesson or practice. Most important is to talk with your child about anyone who tries to touch their private parts, anyone that tells them not to tell anyone, or if they tell someone, something bad will happen to them or their family, or they will get in trouble. Reassure your child they will not get in trouble and anyone that tells them that, is bad and it’s never your child’s fault. Pedephiles seek out opportunities to work with kids, and they spend long times grooming children, and building trust with the child’s family. Pedephiles can be very convincing that they are trustworthy and just really care about your child. They can even be highly recommended as a good music teacher or couch etc.! There are cases where multiple families have known and trusted this particular person for years, how could they all not know something about the same person? They know how to build everyone’s trust and many people have been shocked to learn someone they trusted hurt their child. Just don’t trust and allow these situations.
Even if it’s not a trust issue I heard that time shares some of them can be connected to traffic- ers of people

We need to teach children at an early age to be discerning of others. It's not about trusting others but about entrusting themselves to others, and there is a difference. The other thing I see in this documentary, is that the main character did not have a father figure in his life, and that signals an important factor for a child--a strong family bond, where they can communicate with their parents about anything and where they will be listened to absolutely. My heart goes out to these children, now adults.

Only a victim can understand the years of guilt and shame, the emptiness in my soul is still there. I forgave my perpetrator years ago or i wouldn't be here, but forgiving the establishment that hid him and his atrocities ill take to my grave. God forgive me. I was that 13 year old boy who had ambitions of being a Priest. My innocence was lost that hot summer day in the Sanctuary. May God forgive you and have Mercy on your soul.

Priest in the church my family went to in Rhode Island just got convicted for his 3rd offense. First was in the early 90s. Absolutely disgusting how the deacons and bishops handle these predators
Seen it done. The cover up is WORSE bc when victims finally disclose, they learn that the world doesn't have their back....nor does the church. They are on their own. It's MUCH worse after disclusure. That is why so many never disclose.

Every religious order that has taught children has abused them. And covered it up. To admit abuse is to admit that a holy representative is evil, and by extension, the order corrupt. Just as God must be perfect, so too must His surrogates on earth, since they act with the grace of God, yes? In reality, not so much.
Yet when Jesus was on earth, he did not hesitate to call out the religious abuses of his times. He taught that drunkards and prostitutes are often better people than religious leaders. 2000 years later and that lesson remains on deaf ears.

The catholic church's response to allegations of abuse is always the same..move the accused to another area and do not inform them of the monster they are receiving. Fr Brendan Smith in Ireland was a good example....

Humans are in desperate NEED to acknowledge and separate their faith in GOD from their faith on these institutions, the so called organised religions … Faith in God should be absolutely separate from all these institutions and the capable who have created them, for only their own gain !!! What is also sick about the Roman Catholic Church is that it is taught and indoctrinated to everyone that the "Church is infallible". I would say it is an aspect of brainwashing to have people believe that you can do nothing wrong because men, law and institutions places these "men" in these positions. They continue to say by "God". There seems to be little differentiation between Gods will and human will based off of convenience for abusers.

They new each other, were priests together when I knew of them. Both charged with SA that drug out for seven years. Sentences were so unusual and bizarre. Like them, there are others who met with 'untimely death'. Years later, the pope visits Canada and shells out big $$$$$ but only if you/victim, are indigenous native (status with the Golden card saying you are full blood). White or half natives need not apply. One or both of these Bishops, while still lowly priests, destroyed my brother's soul when he was a grade 5 alter boy some 50 plus years ago. Back then, who could you turn to? Even today, unless you fit a criteria, 'helpful' organizations turn you away. I am one of the few kids thru the Catholic school years,still alive with the memories. (for our area in northern British Columbia. Some took their own lives before they were in their mid teens. Others chose slow deaths dealing with the pain thru substance abuses. Somehow, I felt the need for a clean life and to keep each one in my memory. To what end tho?

They would need to be able to afford a lawyer to represent themselves if they go the justice system route. Last time I talked with a lawyer he was charging $300 an hour.
@@TIGGER-ALERT Not necessarily. In these types of cases there are lawyers who base their pay on whether there is a successful win. It requires them to balance whether they believe a win is possible, but that is typically how those cases work.

Every time I read an account like this, I just cry and cry for the victims. I am a lifelong Catholic and I am absolutely paralyzed with the evil that perpetuated these people lives, and I just wish I could love them out of it memory and with my love

In the modern secular world, the 'churches' are our police forces - RCMP and municipal police forces and our justice system, these two institutions prop up each other in a symbiotic dance - this is called Nationalism and every country has it. Cops and judges continuously shuffle from location to location, district to district, not just as routine job descriptions but especially when controversial actions surface. What other professions other than policing exist where perpetrators of crimes get suspended with pay while under flimsy investigations?

I’m from Toronto, I know lots of boys who went to st. Micheal ‘s and to the st. Basils ‘. I worked in a hockey arena in the cafe’ and lots of students from those schools came to play hockey and I would serve them drinks and fries !! I never would have imagined those horrible thins were going on !!! I hope Peter can find peace in his life. I wish all those boys and girls to go on with their lives and try to forget the bad things that happened to them !! GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF THOSE EVIL DOERS !!

I look forward to the time when the media treats this subject with honesty and objectivity. There is an endemic problem of abuse in the Orthodox Jewish community, and in the religious Muslim community at this very moment but if we were to go by the mainstream media one would think that this is an issue exclusively affecting the Catholic church. This tells me that either there is an anti-Catholic biased in the mainstream media or that the media does not care at all about the welfare of Jewish and Muslim children who are being abused.

Obviously nobody is claiming the Catholic church is the only organization that harbours pedophiles. However others haven't sustained top down, long standing cover ups in the same way the CC has. (eg: Shunting their protected perverts from diocese to diocese). Added to that: despite public protestations of regret n' change from the vatican, the demons still use their untold riches to pay lawyers to fight victims in court. Doesn't sound like repentance to me.

Teach children from an very early age their body is theirs! Means also if they refuse to touch an adult for greeting and so on they would not be forced to. Talk about their rights and that nobody , so also those who are family, teachers and so on may touch them at private areas aspecialy. Teach them when it happens its never their fault. Tell them to go to the police or somebody they trust.
