Nope. Asus VivoBook Pro 14 has the same 120Hz OLED + 4050 under $1K, and has way better build quality and keyboard compared to Acer. This is a rip-off.
Their previous swift X 14 used to have a good value, with a discrete GPU in a tiny form factor. They had to sacrifice noise and thermals. Sadly, it seems these weren't addressed. Other manufacturers are entering this space, so they need to stay competitive. There's a couple of design tricks they could use to improve thermals as well. With such a large fan chassis, it could be used as a heatsink. Huawei did that. Mushy keyboards are also a big turn off. Really hoping the 7040 Ultrabooks come out soon, they could be a good alternative.
Ohh I know, these douchebags are just hype selling. The fact I can game perfectly fine on any 10/20 series laptops is a joke when it comes to gains. 2023 version looks so distinct compared to 2022 and 2021. It doesn't look as simple and clean as its predecessor from my perspective. I do like that 7-hour battery life tho. That's actually impressive given that the fan is always audible even at low load. I got the 2021 version, the fan is dead silent at low load but battery life lasts for about 6-hour.
I have that 21 model as well (ryzen 5800u), I really want to upgrade because the screen on it is terrible. 60hz and terrible response time is such a bummer. This seems like a huge upgrade plus 16:10 aspect ratio for productivity.
A few weeks ago I bought the 2022 version of the acer swift x 14 with the I7-1260p, the 3050ti, 16gb of ram, and 1440p LCD display, on discount for about 1200 brand new. I wanted a productive Laptop that had dedicated graphics so I could game and do everything I needed to do on a desktop with relative ease in a thin and light chassis, overall I'm pretty happy with it, a few complaints but most are minor such as a lack of an SD card reader, Windows 11 bugs, and a bit of backlight bleed when the brightness is over half, but for what it is it was very much worth it. I would have appreciated even a 90hz display or an upgrade to an OLED at the price, but its better than 1080p, having said all this I've noticed a few things with the swift line, when a newer model is released its seems to be "2 steps forward, 1 step back", for this one that I have, it got the display upgrade in terms of aspect ration and resolution, and it now charges over USB-C, but then it doesn't have an option to spec with a Ryzen chip, and this one has a better Intel chip and a higher spec 4050 GPU but now the IO layout is worse, the display is better, but now it only has 1 SSD slot instead of 2 like on my model and the original Swift X. I'm not sure why Acer seems to come so close but then end up coming just short of the perfect mid range laptop, needless to say while I would like the OLED display and newer chipset, the IO placement and the singular SSD slot are pretty big deal-breakers.
Thanks for the keyboard feedback and on how far back the display can go, but on the display part you mentioned that the Gigabyte Aero 14 is 60Hz only but it's not, it's actually 14.0" 90Hz 2.8K non-touch OLED. This Swift X 14 is 14.5" 120Hz 2.8K non-touch OLED, which is good to emphasize that way for those that want a touchscreen (don't think it was mentioned here) and are also looking for a compromise between 14.0" and 15.6". Cheers.

i think they messed it up by going with intel. I have the 2021 version with the Ryzen 5 5600U and it works like a charm. It is super silent untill I start a game or something. The only thing this laptop has gained is the display imo (and the black colour, mine only had 1 option- silver).
I think the single fan instead of two is even more problematic. Sure they have powerful hardware, but they can't cool it properly and are obnoxiously loud for below average performance. But AMD would have helped, too. I agree on that. It's cheap, but you also get what you pay for.
@@sebastianjost No the thing is that Acer have chosen to not have loud fans on the AMD 2021 variant. It doesnt run very fast and get very loud even on turbo mode. But this results in hotter temps. the cooling must suck
Can forza horizon 5 run on this laptop ?
Even when it’s not a high performance laptop the cooling system seems to be a problem. Maybe an amd processor would have been a better option.
Arrow key gamer? 😳
No i rebind to right side of keyboard since I’m a lefty I don’t use arrows lol
@@MatthewMoniz aaahh okay okay xD
We need AMD cpu in 14 inc not in 16 inc only
Hope they bring more choices
The Asus ZenBook 14 OLED is a little over half the list price of this laptop. Almost double for slightly better GPU and slightly better CPU? This laptop is DOA at this price
The price is disgusting.
what a shabby internal design...
