    I'm 65 years old, so I was around when most these cars were new. I was brought home as a baby in my Dad's Straight 8, Buick which he always raved about, in fact his later 58 special was a let down to him, but I liked it............ That bus would be hot with the van dweller type people (they have no home they just live in their van or bus) and travel from place to place. .............. You know you read my mind, the trailer has seen a lot of action and it shows it, but hey, if it works, that is what counts. The beauty of it don't make it haul any better. ... When I had my 15 employee machine shop, I'd often beef up trailers, weld D rings to them, etc as I am certified in 3 types of welding, arc, tig, mig and have my Journey man machinist papers, but making parts was where it was at, the papers don't mean much. ......... God Bless

    A lot of people replaced swapped out the grills because they didn't like them,& they just had rather have the Chevy Grill.... you're right though the grill makes that old truck it's in really good shape, the doors the hood the fenders except for the spots around the headlights,& that's just minor dents but with the exception of that there is a ton of good parts on the old truck & it was absolutely a good buy as long as you got it right and the old boy you bought it from didn't make you hack an arm off for it LOL

    Very cool, Rick.
    You said it's a parts truck, but it doesn't look too bad in the video. Is it worth saving? I think a 1-ton with an extended (10ft?) pickup box would be a cool project. Good parts have to come from somewhere, though.
    Dan seems like a really good guy, for sure. Loved seeing his toys.
    Peace Out, Buddy.

    Hey rick, found a 59' GMC for sale and it has the "Fleet" front end option with the single headlights and weird looking grille, Researched it a bit and it seems to be a rare option. I mean your a GMC professional what can you tell me about it? Also I can send you the Link to if if your Interested in it! Im just curious about it, Think right now its 1,000$

    • @ClassicTruckRescue
      @ClassicTruckRescue  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and no. The "Fleet" option was just what the name suggests. It was a version of GMC trucks made with less chrome, and kind of "Bare-bones" to save costs for companies that needed a lot of trucks for deliveries..etc... so back in the day, they were a dime a dozen and plentiful. On the other hand, they got used until they were worn-out. Also, nobody wanted them because they were less attractive. So they usually got scrapped or were used as donor trucks for more desirable models. So no, they weren't rare because they made a ton of them back in the day....but now I would have to say they ARE rare because so few survived. Hope that helps. Send some photos to rick@classictruckrescue.com Thanks.

    Once you build the pole building you can put in an area to paint the trucks. I hate the word PATINA to me suggests to lazy to get it painted or don't care how it looks. If not a finished paint at least a primer coat to keep them from rusting further.

    • @ClassicTruckRescue
      @ClassicTruckRescue  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hear you. I have to agree with you that too many people are just bolting rusty junk together and calling it cool. But on the other hand, if a truck has been well-preserved for 70-years and still has its original paint and all of its original body panels...a good sanding and clear coat will keep it from rusting further. Thanks Fer Watching Lisa. -Rick

      The first year of "Hot August Nights" a friend of mine was denied a chance to be in the parade because his 5 year project '48 Chevy truck,which looked and functioned GREAT, was only clad in primer. I felt like they forgot what hot rodding was all about. Back in the early days,it was pretty rare you saw one that was actually painted,because the owners always had more "building" to do and didn't have the money for nice paint. When you finally got your car or truck painted,it was officially finished,and it was time to start a new project. That act really soured my interest in HAN;I still looked at all the nice ($$$$$$$) cars,but was honestly more interested in all the unfinished cars I saw in the parking lot outside the swap meet.
