In my profession, when on a call for a "service/repair". It's policy to replace the cables, do not install the kinked & frayed cables back on. Otherwise another service call soon... Great info video😁

My right side cable keeps un-spooling from drum. I fixed once and it did it again today. Should I push garage all the way up evenly and then lossen both spools and then tighten them up? Or do I need to re-spool and then look at tightening my torsion spring? Can't figure out what's causing this cable to keep unspooling

Don't listen to this guy.. you're going to get hurt 🤕
If your door is up on one side while down it's definitely off.
Not sure if you're knowledgeable enough to fix your problem.
Take an 18" hardened steel 1/2" rod in the spring hole an loosen the 7/16 12 point bolts... Be Careful, the rod will want to pull downward in most common cases. It's dangerous an depending on your location very strong. After loosing the spring's, tighten the left side cable, tighten the bolts an lock it off an vice grip the outside of the tube so that cable is tight. Then do the same on the right side cable that should be loose at this point.
Tighten it then add a quarter turn back to each spring an tighten the bolts on them. Slowly open the door watching for any problems.
Remember a 16 x 7 could weigh around 300 lbs depending on your location

Too bad the manufacturer doesn't give specific torque specs on drum and spring set screws...fewer over or under torques...but then meh must not be that hard to get right without a torque wrench

nah...much easier method...no drum release required..raise the loose cable side higher than the tension side..rewind cable on drum..lower , then check balance..use a piece of cardboard not to damage the wall with vise grip, too

I was looking for this comment so I didn't have to write it. ❤ Everyone has their own methods but the fastest way is just rewrapping the drum without loosening this set screws for sure!

Don't work on the drums in either position. You're going to get someone hurt bud, not all springs are 225s 🤏🏻

What I did since my door was almost shut but tilted a little. Wife and I evened it out and then pushed it up, then viced grip guide rail to keep it up. Then I just re-wrapped the cable around spool. Also, I fixed my open and close adjustment since I was told that when power goes out it can reset and cause problems. That helped a little but I'm still worried I'm causing harm to my nice motor since it doesn't operate as smoothly as it use to. She needs an expert to tweak or I might just upgrade my ancient spring.
