Rather than velcro, you can just put a ring on a finger, and thread tied to it, put the thread through the basket weave and tie like a stick to it. It'll keep it attached to the basket wherever you need it. And won't put a permanent thing to the hand so you can use it for other crafts in the future ~~
Pro tip from an amputee on how to attach a fake arm to one's torso: look up how prosthetic arms were attached to a torso historically . They used belts as well, but they used more than one belt/ strap and used the existing shoulder to properly secure the prosthesis in place.
Thank you. This is the comment I came here to boost. The harness can be made with nylon strapping and quick-release plastic clips. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
It might also help to carve a "U" out the silicon on the inside of the upper arm to get it to lie more naturally against her real arm: maybe even carve out enough to strap it to her "meat" arm. I know it has that internal "bone" so there's only so much carving to be done, but it's still better than trying to stuff two entire arms into one sleeve
@@pandajesus5052 Hello Panda! Good to meet you on the interwebs. Hope you're day is going well. I was in a creativity workshop at The Grove Studio this afternoon (they're off Gladstone, near Bronson). Much fun. You should check them out some time. Also - The Hangout Cafe on Sommerset & Booth is absolutely fine with a body bringing along their sewing project to go with their bubble tea.
An option for the future (either future puppets//an alteration to Gigi) is make your hand stop in the torso and have the head be a separate piece with a dowel that extends down into the torso//to your hand. Then you can just rotate the dowel for a better head turn and it means you can size down since the head doesn't need to accommodate your hand! I have a dragon puppet with a similar mechanism to that and the head can fully turn left to right and it's so much fun that way!!! Plus less strain on your wrist as well
I am firmly but tenderly grasping your hand as I look earnestly into your eyes. Thank you for articulating my exact thoughts, we are on the same wavelength
Absolutely! Professional puppeteers also have some mechanisms on the dowel to make the puppet blink and open it's mouth. Can't wait to see Rachel making a Grogu puppet and mandalorian costume :D
Yes, very much this 😂 to be fair, there is no Gigi pattern like this to buy. But I was silicone-hand-gesturing at the screen 'why not pattern it from a T-Shirt that already fits you??'. On the other (third) hand: We do not question our queen.
I was nearly 18 when that film came out. I'm now 47 and I STILL wouldn't play it!! XD I mean....the whole lesson of the films is DON'T EVER PLAY THIS GAME!!! XD
Kinesiologist here! Your arm is already in almost full pronation when you're making the puppet hand pose which is why you can't move it much more to the left - you can move you arm back into supination however (to the right) from that pose since you still have full range of motion available.
Awesome idea, but depending on how soft or sturdy the silicone is the wire might leave indents or damage. Perhaps attaching the wire to something like a ring or a bracelet would help prevent any damage so the arm can be used again in future cursed projects 😁
For eyes, consider: cheap sunglasses! I made a plague doctor mask one year and I used kids sunglasses for the eye covers. Worked really well, and I can still see haha.

little tip for the resin. When working with anything that's a porous material, it needs to be sealed with a thin layer of resin before putting on the rest of the majority of it. That thin layer will keep air bubbles from popping up out of the material. You can also use a heat gun/lighter/ light spritz of rubbing alcohol (just one of these!) to get rid of the bubbles before curing with the uv light.
Everything turned out so good! The toe beans were my favorite. I would add at least one loaf of real bread to the basket for secret snacking. Thank you for sharing the snow + Frodo!

I'm not a resin expert (I've never used the stuff) but I have watched my fair share of resin-related videos on TH-cam so I do have some knowledge. The best way to avoid air bubbles in your resin is to use a torch like the kind you'd use for caramelizing a dessert to pop any air bubbles you see before you cure the resin. If you want to start using more resin in your projects, I highly recommend going over to the channel Evan and Katelyn! They're awesome TH-camrs who have done tons of projects with all different types of resin so if you want to learn more about how to use resin, it's a great channel to check out. (They're also both very chaotic)

I honestly put my hand towards my screen & do the “go team” cheer along with Rachel every time she does that bit! #helping
16:43 giving those AI models a run for their money by throwing in an extra arm huh?
Your yard is beautiful with all that snow and it looks very very cold.😁 Frodo is soooo adorable.🥰 I think your outfit is also adorable and that you are so darn creative. I love it! Your puppet is so cute and detailed! The fake arm is hilarious! I thank you for all the smiles it really made my day! Take care Rachel and have a blast with your creation!
Or, how about using a ring on the fake hand attached to a hook or something similar, that should keep it in place?
So much value in every video! This was wholeome, cosy, nostalgic, picturesque, funny and creative! ✨
Kikis delivery service has been my favorite movie growing up. Watching studio ghibli movies was always a special time between my uncle and I. I've gone as her so many times as Halloween too......and casual days as well lol❤️🐈⬛ my daughters favorite (2yo) is Ponyo
Love this!!! Jiji is one of my favorite Studio Ghibli characters. 😊🐈⬛❤️
My only criticism is that you misspelled “Jiji” to “Gigi” in the title.
I got so confused at first, like why is Kiki in the thumbnail and isn't Gigi a musical about a sex worker
I was a little confised too, I've never seen it spelled Gigi 😅
Same! It took me until I heard voice clips to realize she must have watched it dubbed. But even the video captions say Jiji. And every other video about Kiki. And the very first sentence of the IMDb description. Seems like a big oversight.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I PAINT EYES ON A WOOD CARVIMG!!! It's astounding how relatable you were with that Babes in toyland reference!
My favorite content creator and my favorite Ghibli movie! Such a bright spot in a not so great week.
Loved the Frodo frolicking segment as always! Such a cool illusion
the cat’s name is jiji, btw!
You are probably the most entertaining cosplayer I have seen so far I LOVE YOUR CONTENT IMMEDIATELY
REQUEST: Hi Rachel, long time subscriber here. if I could make a request; the 1 kHz censor bleep at 00:21 is genuinely very unpleasant almost painful to me and some others. Would you consider using something softer please? thanks in advance :)
I’d like to understand- can someone tell me, is this tinnitus related or something else? Thank you
@mango-baby not in my case but I have read some saying that it is for them
Its not that deep lower your volume then
Straight up, it's an issue for literally no one. Stop being a whiny baby, and turn your goddamn volume down
I second this honestly, as someone with a lot of auditory issues it messes with me a good amount
The way my mouth literally dropped open when you brought that mug on screen. It is so wonderful!
Insane cinematography and craft work. Super inspiring!
OMG! I love love love that you referenced the Keanu & Drew Babes in Toyland! Usually I have to explain it and it's a whole thing! Thank you for making me feel less alone about that! 😘
