    Nicely designed rack! Little tip to get out those short pieces of pipe out of the pipe carrier, leave a long piece of plastic pipe in there with bit of hard plastic the shape of the hole at the end and leave it in there, when you pull this out it will,drag the shorter pieces out!

      That is a great tip. I think Vanguard have a tube you can open at the front but I didn't get one and I am going to make that little plastic disc up this weekend. Thanks. It is great to share these ideas.

    Hi Roger,
    I like to smear a little copper grease on racking bolts before installing them. It helps stop seizing in the future.
    Can be a really pain removing old bolts without the shearing them off.
    Carry on the great work. Cheers.

      Good tip Chris. I should have thought of that because I was thinking of putting Swan Seal on the threads as a non setting sealant

    Just ordered a van guard 3 bar rack and back roller. If it's good enough for Bisbey then it must be good! I hope so anyway.

    How do you fix them on a ford transit, there are no fixing points.

      I spoke to Vanguard and they said that this seems to happen occassionally on some vehicles. It can be as simple as moving the leading bar back or forwards but the front deflector is the best method so I am going to try that.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The deflector worked a treat. Funny thing wind.

    • @trailfools4668
      @trailfools4668 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did the wind deflector come at an extra cost? I cant understand how they can say it happens on some vehicle's as it's a vivaro specific rack on a vivaro

    Very impressive product, Roger. Is there anything included to secure a ladder?

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they sell ladder hooks and all sorts of things to help stop your ladder ending up in the back window of the car in front.
      On another note I hope you renewed your season ticket for Gander Green Lane.

    Could you fit an awning bar such as a Fiamma F45S 300 to one of these roofracks?

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is very easy to do because the awning bar just bolts through. You might need a couple of aluminium plates but it isn't hard to do.

    Hi Rodger, just got the same system installed on my vauxhall vivaro van, I get a lot of wind noise when I get to 50mph, is yours the same? I think it's to do with the position of my pipe carrier, I'll take it off and see if it's better,

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Keith
      I thought I did an update on this but if not I had to get a front spoiler which cured it completely. Give them a ring and get them to send you one. It is unacceptable without. I have also been told that you can cure it by wrapping something like a bungee cord around the front bar in a spiral but, for me, the spoiler is a better option. Read the comment below there are several people talking about this problem

    • @keithjohnstone9889
      @keithjohnstone9889 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkillBuilder Thanks for your reply Rodger, I'll have a read down the page and get a front spoiler ordered. Thank you, keep up the great videos. 👍

    Are you gonna install some racking inside? Nice video.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think not because I need the space and racking takes forever to remove and refit. I have lots of stacking boxes so I can clear the van at night.

  • @trailfools4668
    @trailfools4668 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    just fitted one of these on my vivaro, does your's make a noise after 25mph it's unbearable

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have discovered this too. I made the video and posted it then when I took it on a long journey it made this low hum all the way. I am going to talk to them next week and see if a front spoiler makes a difference. I had one on the old rack and it was silent. It is even more baffling because this has the new aero bars. I will let you know what I find out
