Very awesome video sir ! I just purchased my shorty Transit and want to install a rack for my 20’ sticks of Steel, this video showed me exactly how to start my project. I will do everything exactly like you said with the mounting and blocks , then I’ll weld my uprights to the rack and bam I have a rack that can be removed easily by the mounting screws and blocks , and I like how the racks extend passed the van for the latter , I’m only 5’4 so I’ll need to use a latter to close up and tie down my steel . Thanks again so much ! great video

Great video, very thorough. Im thinking of using a similar setup on a chevy astro. Is the rail essentially a piece of unistrut?

These things are bullet proof. I just bought the rails and then installed recreational (Rhino) crossbars. Loading LED lights bars and a Yakima Megawarrior cargo basket on top of that. Can't even see the rails from the ground and i'm 6'1". Sweet, sturdy setup.

Great vid, and, well, what do you think about this? I too have a 130MR and I just removed the foremost support for
additional headroom only needing the two rear most for solar rack. Well, there ain't no nut that I can see; got the black
plastic plug covered by the white cap up top and no nut spot welded or otherwise to the support. In all your installs ever
    see this before? Merry Christmas.

========== Update See This Company Contact Info Below
    May 18, 2020
I recently purchased, installed and then removed a roof rack system from a company on Amazon called AA products.
The roof rack was not bad, but it did not include appropriate weather sealing in it’s kit, and I installed it as is and the roof started leaking the next day when it rained.
I thought I could salvage situation, by looking at this video and then making sure that I installed my own weather ceiling to the new kit that I bought.
But when I was up there I noticed that the cross bar rails started to rust just one day after it rained.
The rust was forming just inside the ends of the four hollow square 72” 1.5” steel rails that went across the top of the roof.
Seeing this, and being left stranded with no weather sealing for this new rack, I decided to take it off the roof entirely and return it.
As a result, I’m now totally getting into do it yourself mode, and revisiting this video for pointers, and or considering buying them. I haven’t really checked and see what the shipping is. The rail system is right on par at $245. The contact information as listed in the end credits of this video is as follows:

    =============== First Comment ====
May 2019 (or earlier) youtube just said “one year ago” from today.
Well, the prefabricated roof racks at Aluminess are expensive at $2,700 (install or shipping extra). Therefore, I'll be designing a DIY version for now since the Solar Power Systems are going to be pricey as well. I'd rather do a custom DIY (good enough) rack now, get the Solar System in place, and then upgrade (if needed) later to an off the shelf solution (probably not). Thanks for showing the details of accessing the pre-drilled holes on the transit, that is where things will start.

wow yeah. better off just getting some aluminum and building /welding it yourself.

I had an 08 econoline as was able to get 2 sets (4 cross bars) with uprights on Amazon. I put redwood (I'm from CA) decking on it. I'm here trying to see if I will be able to the same to nut 2020 ordered transit :) ..... I need to know the total weight still (kayaks, great, sunrise/sunset lounge, etc).

what is the angle of the mounting point bases relative to the van? I assume that it's not completely level because your roof rack legs seem to be constructed at an angle
