    Thank you for not taking your relationship with your dad for granted. My dad died when I was 21 and I would give *anything* to hug him.
    Do me a favor and hug your dad for me, and tell him that a random internet stranger is hugging his two kids and passing along knowledge and love.
    You are super chill and I'm subscribing *specifically* because of your dad.

    I would have spent the time to put a larger breaker box in. Also putting the air on a dedicated circuit would have been much better than running 2 240volt objects off 1 breaker.

    I believe you are not supposed to run romex wire through conduit, also supposed to have a electrical disconnect outside by your AC compressor.

  • @kimojon9665
    @kimojon9665 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    AC Alert, do not go with the square footage the mini split provides for coverage. Double the coverage, yes, double it especially if you are installing in a garage and especially if you are in a hot area like Arizona. In the summer that 18K unit will NOT keep up at all. You need a 36K unit for that little garage, trust me.

    Usually, your caulk gun has a hole near the trigger. If you put the tip of the caulk tube into it and pull the trigger, it cuts it open so you don't have to use a utility knife

    I was told that you are not supposed to put romex inside conduit because it might overheat. If you are using conduit only the individual wires (black, red, white, bare) go inside.

    You can hang a condensation pump to the drain line for A/C and from there you can clamp hoses to where ever you need to.

  • @swingman141414
    @swingman141414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know this is an old video but for future reference, when Caulking, push forward instead of pulling the gun. That way you won't need your finger to spread and when letting off the trigger you can actually apply the excess as well. Nothing goes to waste and its cleaner.

    Been looking at Mustangs and came upon your channel. I rather enjoy it because you’re not a know it all. It’s refreshing. You did a nice job on you A/C installation. Really nice actually. The one thing I would suggest to anyone that’s going to do the same, is don’t twist the lines on the indoor unit out the back. You should straighten them first. Then bend them out the back. Twisting does exactly that. It twists the copper. Looking forward to more vids.

    To your father, great job in being there for you. My own father and mother live there in Mesa. Never enough time to get there to give the hugs, kisses and so much more that they deserve. Keep up the father-son time. I also know how brutal the heat can be there in the Valley of the Sun. As with all, looking forward to Covid-19 being something of the past. Great job on the garage. Would definitely suggest having that garage door spring adjusted since you added the insulation panels. You wouldn’t think it, but those add enough weight to the door and can cause your spring to break or your opener to burn out faster

    I’m guessing you’ll be replacing that AC unit with one large enough to cool the garage (I own an AC company in Palm Springs, CA - 120°+ summers). 18k BTU is way, way too small for your climate zone and heat load (has nothing to do with the listed square feet coverage). A normal garage trying to maintain 85° for cars requires 24k BTU. A work space, that you’d like to feel cool in should have a 36k BTU for your summer heat.

    It depends on your state code but you really should be using THHN wire through conduit... but once its in its in... just inspection if you ever go to sell might peek in.

    New to the channel and from the video's I have watched, you go over everything no matter what your showing us. From the little things to the big things and everything in between which is very uncommon but well worth it in my opinion because everyone doesn't know how to do everything. Keep up the great work and content. You should have so many more subscribers than you do and a lot more view's on the videos.

    Looks great! This nice super clean garage is exactly what I want!
    A small note: Cut the caulk-nozzle opening much smaller. You should not have to go back through and cut the excess off from where it spilled over and past your finger. It will also help everything be smoother.

  • @benmorgan7584

    You can also run those in reverse if they come with the extra coil and heat your garage up if needed. They get inefficient though due to condensation on the outside end below -10 Celsius.

    awesome shop videos man. I'm sure yall have already taking care of the spot above your breaker box but if not i recommend framing it and putting a panel on there you can remove like maybe a mirror or something. so if you got to run more wires you don't have to drywall again.

  • @moonboost8199

    Another part some people might need to consider is the assist springs might be old/worn out or just on the edge of having not enough assist. I had to upgrade springs after I installed the insulation. The doors shouldn't be able to close just with gravity if you let go of them when you pull the emergency release.
    Just looked at the mini-split AC, that's not bad! I'll have to look into that for my own garage, it gets in the 100s in the garage here in TX.
    Awesome job!

    Never use your finger for working with chemicals... Sealant is applied with special pullers. To make this process easier you can use smoothing agent after you applied the sealant.
    For this specific task it would have been better so use an acrylic filler, because it's paintable :)
    Nice work with the AC!

    Late comment, so idk if you'll even see this, but you could do some 5S like some real shops do, it helps you keep everything organized. Basically just labels on the ground so everything has its own place
