    2:05 for zone 2. Wow. I’m at 2:40 which is slow but it’s my own personal rowing journey.

    Just picked up a used (cheap) Sunny Rowing Machine. It’s not a ‘smart’ one, but as long as I have Shane to set the pace, it works for now!

    I don't think lifting heels matters. Either you or 'training tall' advised to set the feet as low as comfortable, so I set my feet a notch lower (strap is just below toes) and immediately I felt comfier, thighs did not get in the way as much and I got a 'cleaner' feeling quad push at the start of the stroke. My butt has never found the c2 seat very comfy. Pretty much every other rower brand has a comfier seat.

      Lifting heels is not essential always when you master the way you push to get the second stroke and not lose the connection between your feet and the machine

    Interesting how you use that slight heel raise to get longer. Hip replacement surgery cost me some flexibility at age 69, so I can't get as deep on the catch. I always keep my heels down, but may try a slight heel raise to pick up more meters and improve my times. Thanks again, Coach...

      You might find it a little more comfortable because it gives you some room to for adjustment as needed

    Do you get heart rate creep with this exercise? Over 20 minutes I would need to slow down to keep HR the same.

      Usually in a single 20 minute piece I don’t. But by the 3rd or 4th round I usually do

    Have you felt any benefit from breaking your UT2 in to small chunks like that instead of doing say 2 x 45 mins or straight through? Is it just to break the piece up mentally or do you feel you benefit more from doing 5 x20?

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It’s mostly just for mental purposes, I can’t say it’s a physiological intention. Teammates run 2 or 3 x 30:00 but I’d rather do 20:00’s. Sometimes I change it around though.

    I monitor my power curve when I row. It keeps focused on my form.

      Yeah, it’s a good trajectory to help understand how you’re working with the machine

    what "computer" do you have on your rower? Is that the PM5 or something different?

    • @tubemeikel
      @tubemeikel 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's a standard PM5 with a fancy cellular holder put on top.

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      Yeah, it's the PM5 with my phone mount. I like to call it my party hat

    I was trying to duplicate your rate but, @ 70 yrs young and a lifetime rower, (water), could not slow enough. Was double and only bringing in about 131. Just dream to have a scull craft, yet here landlocked, no real length body to initiate.

      You gotta slow down. Notice how relaxed I am. You can slow it down, it just takes focus.

    One of my favorite workouts is rowing. I have about 5 Mil lifetime meters and counting. I don't understand the zone 2 training. I enjoy the push of a metcon and maxing out my HR toward the end of a 5k. I also got into rowing in my 30's and never competed. Only for fitness on the erg.

      have a listen in to Peter Attia on Zone2 and Vo2 max. It comes in a package of these 2.

      @tubemeikel thx, will do. With the kiddos and busy work schedule, I lean toward more high intensity than longer sessions.

    take it down its out of synch, no warm up and cool down. You are kinda all over the place. make a new one when you feel better.

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      It’s a 20 minute steady rate workout at a 20 where I didn’t budge off the rate the whole time. All over the place seems a little misguided
