Those bullmoose bars were on my old Diamond Back Ridge Runner. Lugged steel frame, aluminum components, and bear trap pedals. Basically, an adult sized BMX for back in the day. Man, I miss that bike!
This bike looks pretty sweet. I love my Priority 600X and I've got nearly 800 miles on it. So far so good the drivetrain is bomb proof. The Sauce just looks outright fun to ride. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome review and great channel. After four months my Sauce finally arrived yesterday. I’m pumped. I’m installing a dropper post and setting the tires up tubeless this weekend. I’m looking forward to hitting my favorite trails with a full rigid single speed.
My first mountain bike was a 1984 Raleigh Elkhorn (still have it) which had the same handlebar design. Mine also had the bolt on wheels but not the disk brakes or gates belt drive. Seems fun. Thanks for sharing.
Another top notch review. Thanks. Awesome looking bike. I love Priority bikes and am old enough to remember bikes like this ruling the trails. I used to deliver food in Manhattan (in the 80s) on a Diamondback similar to this. 46:22 makes my old knees ache just thinking about hills but 25 years, or more, ago & I would have ridden this till the wheels fell off. Nice bike!
I am a product of mountain bikes of 40-odd years ago. Yup, those handlebars. Iconic. [Still have my Panasonic from 1988 A hardtail's hardtail.] The one thing essentially retro missing from this Priority? Brown skinwalls a la Panaracer. On 26-inch wheels. :P PS Yup. We spoke chainring.
These are really cool bikes. I love the gates carbon drive, I love the retro look. Some day, one day it would nice to own a Priority bike. I'm sure they really live up to their price tag. If you want a all in one low maintenance bike and can afford it, Priority bikes are for you. For now I'll buy and build:)
Are you kidding me with 'live up to their pricetag'..yeah show me another sub-3k pinion carbon belt driven bike bud 😂. Because I'll tell you what there ain't one.
I have bullmoose bars on my Muirwoods , love them ; Priority knocked it out of the park , this looks like a great commuter with some Sunday gravel / light trail fun.
I ride a Raleigh Redux. However I swapped out the tires so I can go on trails. I can see retro rigid bikes making a comeback in the near future. Not that you can ride the same kind of trails as an Enduro. I just think people will enjoy a return to simplicity. Plus if you can still send it on a rigid bike you will look like a badass.
Definitely one of the nicest looking bikes featured here for some time. I wouldn't mind seeing solid forks on more bikes - lighter weight, less maintenance, and I do prefer the 'road feel' of a solid fork.
Single speed is a non-starter for me ever I stopped riding my BMX 20 years ago. Good to see there's a 7 speed option. I been also seeing a few commuter bikes with a 3 speed option too.
looks dope, the only gripe I have is that aluminum fork, going chromoly would have provided a little bit more comfort on the ol wrists and elbows. aluminum doesn't exactly like to flex, especially with tubing that large
Everything old is new again. Google 1985 Schwinn High Sierra. Same handlebars on what they called All Terrain Bicycles. I'm lovin my old school Murray next on the list is a Schwinn. For a second bike or a jalopy the parts are everywhere, possibly free if you hit a city wide cleanup, and you'll learn a ton. Our local bike shop is expanding to a new location he got started by selling used parts. The Murray just got an upgrade to the Shimano Flat Face derailleur off a Mongoose. That thing never had it so good. Herculite frame. Bikes are fun without the front shock.
Interesting bike. Still like my Axum DP more. 2 years later and over 1000 miles and still going on original drivetrain other then the bottom bracket.... Going to need a new one this spring.
Hmm not all of them. But if you're talking about their pinion bikes than yes they are. The alfine bikes are pure utter 💩..just because it has a carbon belt doesn't necessarily mean it's 🥇
beauty of a bike but just a bit slow for a true commuter - would need either a larger front belt ring or a smaller rear - I would be fine with either option
Question to everybody I want to hear do you think this would be a good bike to make him to a front-wheel e-bike? Also I'm 300 lb actively trying to get down to 240, so my other concern is do you think you can take the weight up hills? And I know the rear-wheel-drive would be better or mid drive but I think the easiest for me to do would be front.
When it comes time to change gear ratios it will likely cost half again as much as the new bike. The belt drive is a solution for a problem that does not exist. They do break and when that happens..... you could be stranded for some time.
So single speed mountain biking is a real thing...there are even race categories for it, not just on "XC" trails, but on more challenging MTB trails. There are many benefits to it, and skills to gain from it....TH-cam it, and then try it before you knock it. That said, The Sauce is not made for that kind of riding. I've been riding my new SAUCE for a few weeks now. It is an awesome bike for it's intended purpose(S). Does it have limitations? Yes. Would I ride this on the same blue and black trails that I ride my MTB on? No. With a gear ratio of 57.5 gear inches, it is geared pretty tough for that, but it is geared fairly well for most green trails, if you know how/not too lazy to stand up and pump the bike when needed. The belt drive is fantastic, smooth and should last about 3 times as long as a chain. Out in the desert where I live, the belt can squeak a bit, but spraying it with a silicone lubricant occasionally solves that. With rust proof and rust resistant parts, it is the perfect bike for a "rainy day around the neighborhood" type of ride. As far as it's frame, fork and overall weight, it is a light and nimble bike. The suggestions on the Priority website for riding this thing is pretty accurate based upon my experience: Light MTB trails, pump track, gravel and pavement are all doable and FUN! The dropper post option is cool, but again, you shouldn't take this on trails that you'd usually need a dropper on. Quick release axels won't ever happen on a bike from NYC (too easy to steal parts), but thru axels on the next "SAUCEX" iteration would be a good idea. Nice work Priority, this thing fits many niches all by itself!
I haven’t deleted any comments on the past week or so. Now that you mention it I think this is the longest I’ve gone without spam comments claiming giveaways. Maybe YT has finally solved the problem 🙌 Did you try to include links? Those are automatically blocked
@@KevCentral no I mentioned the website but not in the proper format. The one I keep recommending is the e11even m1×11. It's on a website for half the price Sun anddd skiiiii lol
Their tagline should be *Less is Less for More* Designed in NYC - Tested in NYC is all fine and good for a bike for NYC or Florida. Beach town rentals is probably an excellent use case for these bikes. But most places aren't like NYC. Most cities and suburbs are loaded with hills, some of them quite steep. 46 tooth drive sprocket 22 tooth driven sprocket is only about 1 to 2, so the pedaling won't be that bad, but still not good for steep hills. Very suitable for flat downtown areas or NYC or Florida. Not so good for the rest of the city. What could fix this aspect is an internally geared hub. At least a 3 speed with an under-drive gear. If they could supply this with a geared hub and keep the price point the same, I think they would have a winner for commuting (it still won't be a mountain bike) WHY is there provisions for a friggin dropper post? This is not a mountain bike and attempting to use it as a mountain bike on anything harsher than a non-paved gravel surface will likely involve a visit to the ER (their promotional videos notwithstanding).. A suspension fork is absolutely necessary for even an entry level mountain bike. Hitting a root or jagged rock at a decent speed will cause you to lose control of the bike. You cannot design this out. We have suspensions for a reason and not to just to keep engineers busy. You had better have a lift because you ain't pedaling this thing up a mountain. It's a shame because while Priority is a premium brand who makes good stuff, this bike, I think is looking for a market. Hipsters may like it. But of course, most hipsters are city dwellers likely to live near the downtown (flat) area.
🤷 we've been spoiled. Less is more for sure. 6061, standard welds, hardtail, 1 speed... So you pay $800 for a bike with less features than a $400 bike at Walmart. I think the 600x that Ryan Vandozer has is slick but that bike costs as much as a new Kawasaki complete with motor.
imo this is what budget/beginner mountain bikes should be, rigid, simple and bulletproof
I really like "simple" too, but boy, would I love to see a version of this bike with a 7 speed IGH... that might just be my "perfect" bike.
Looks like my wish has been granted in the new "Hot Sauce".
Pretty cool modern iteration of a klunker. Bonus modern bullmoose bar too. Nice review,Kev!
As someone who already rides a rigid single speed 29er, that bike is awesome and I want one.
God, yes...FINALLY!!! Simplicity in a bombproof design. Reminds me of my 1986 Rockhopper.
Those bullmoose bars were on my old Diamond Back Ridge Runner. Lugged steel frame, aluminum components, and bear trap pedals. Basically, an adult sized BMX for back in the day. Man, I miss that bike!
Gotta love “Bullmoose” handlebars, bringing back the old school.
This bike looks pretty sweet. I love my Priority 600X and I've got nearly 800 miles on it. So far so good the drivetrain is bomb proof. The Sauce just looks outright fun to ride. Thank you for sharing.
Great looking bike. Looks rugged, bigger tires than other models from this company.
As a semi retro grouch I LOVe IT!! Love the retro design and modern reliability. Best of both worlds. Got to buyit!!
Vintage bike restoration is in style now. Those bullmoose bars are old skool. I want a pair to put on my 92 specialized hardrock.
That would be a great commuter. I've never owned a priority but a few people I know love there's. Looks great.
I admit this one is extremely tempting.

Very cool bike. One of the coolest I've seen in a while.

They do last... the belt drive is quite awesome... it's wild to ride down a street without the sound of a chain spinning down there!

Super sweet design. I’m a 29r guy but would definitely consider this
That's badass! If I got one I would have to have an internal hub though!
The new hot sauce has one! 7 speed
I have bullmoose bars on my Muirwoods , love them ; Priority knocked it out of the park , this looks like a great commuter with some Sunday gravel / light trail fun.
The polished accents are nice and spicy. The Gates drive being really fresh.
The front fork option seems organic.
Hears the fork is not only organic but also free range non GMO. 😉

Yeah this bike is 💩.. you're better off saving a couple grand more and buying a 600 or 600x.
Very Nice…Priority really stepped up here. It reminds me of the old Trek Sawyer.
would love a Shimano Alfine SG-S7001 8-Speed Internally Geared Disc Brake 36h Rear Hub Black
Kev, have you reviewed the Priority Hot Sauce with the 7 speed Shimano Nexus hub?
This is beautiful! I’d like to have it with a short stem and some riser bars.
Priority makes cool bikes. Before I got into mountain biking, I got a 600 - partially due to your review.
Single speed is a non-starter for me ever I stopped riding my BMX 20 years ago. Good to see there's a 7 speed option. I been also seeing a few commuter bikes with a 3 speed option too.

wow, lovely bike! ill probably mod that headangle with works components and be done
LOVE it but I need some ⚙️ gears

3:28 Not supposed to twist the carbon belt drives like that. It shortens the life of the belt.
Wouldn't mind seeing this with an Alfine hub.
Looks like Tektro brakes. I love this bike!!
Those "Bull Moose" bars were popular among mountain bikes built around 1990.
Of course Hudson sounds cool -from the Mid-Hudson valley
I have a Gates Belt Drive on my Cannondale Bad Boy 1.
Looks like a quality bike, I like simple.😊
This is so cool I prefer the belt drive single speed over a chain drive ss
One thing I can say is Priority bikes are truly well-built.
Hmm not all of them. But if you're talking about their pinion bikes than yes they are. The alfine bikes are pure utter 💩..just because it has a carbon belt doesn't necessarily mean it's 🥇
That's a pretty good looking bike!
that's why i love the updated...Hot Sauce!!
Perfect for a little 250w front hub motor ❤
Now upgraded to the 7-speed internal gear rear hub!
Looks a great 🚲
Great video Kev.
Hey, NJ has a Hudson st in Jersey City!
Nice bike, and the belt is super cool, but I lube my chain with paraffin, so it is just as clean and quite. Still like to try a belt one day though.
beauty of a bike but just a bit slow for a true commuter - would need either a larger front belt ring or a smaller rear - I would be fine with either option
Wow that thing is cool.
How reliable are belt drives and can you change the drivetrain over to a traditional bike chain and crank setup?
Never seen aluminum bullmoose bar, carbon one i have seen it. Ritchey carbon bullmoose
Oh man this bike is a flex
This is a very cool bike!
Beautiful!
47 seconds since uploaded , nice video👍
add some SQ labs saddle & grips, or brooks if you like comfort and the retro look 🤭🤭🤭
Love it, wonder how much it'd be imported to the UK ...hmm...
Bike looks perfect but that gearing would be a killer where I live. Is this only for flat roads, 46x22 might work in Florida but not Colorado.
Those bull moose are sick

They do break and when that happens..... you could be stranded for some time.
This oughtta come with a disclaimer ‘don’t even consider riding this anywhere other than a flat plane-unless you like knee replacements’.
This bike looks so clean, thanks for info!
Any idea what the max tire clearance is?
This is absolutely beautiful. I would bite your arm off for it if it was available in the UK
I like the bars
Based!
I actually miss those type styled handle bars
It's beautiful
Bull moose bars were the standard in the 80’s.
That paint job, wow! 😱
The 25lb weight is probably without the pedals...
It says on their site including pedals. I think they were doing selective rounding OR they initially had plastic pedals
Are those screws on the chainstay designed to adjust wheel base / belt tension?
Yes
Cool. I like it.
How do I get that handlebar!!??
If it's single speed, why doesn't it have a coaster break?

Curb hopper on the city streets.......She looks to pretty to take in the woods....She comes in green too.
Toss on a set of Bull Horn bar ends, and a Hite Rite ( look it up) and you're all set.
Sternum busters?
Good looking bike. I think that the Sauce insignia is to close to the Salsa's.
I haven’t looked at their logo in a long time. I’ll check
Why was my bike recommendation comment deleted? The e11even one?

Needs gears. If with gears and less than $900, could sell very well. I know I would buy one.
18" ?? I only fot on S 15-16"
Nice but why put an cutting edge belt drive on a retro bike?????
Belt drives are great!

Yes. Priority mainly focuses on city bikes, but they have been branching out the last few years
Its cool but single speed and those funky bars kinda kill it for me it is really cool its belt drive. Its not for me though
