The 600x is worth every penny. Some folks don't know there are 1000 bikes that cost alot more that have less ability. Love it.

Wonderful review thank you watching in Ireland on st Patrick's day
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you over there in Ireland! Have a blessed week!
Thank you for this! This sounds like the bike for which I’ve been looking. I have a couple of older good quality and light hard tails (Cannondale Flash 3, Kona Kula, etc) that I’ve been modifying and tinkering with to convert them to a bike similar to this. Water down slightly the every day mountain bike part of it so it rolls and performs better on asphalt and urban environments and is comfortable to ride, but still retain the mountain bike soul. This bike sounds like it ticks all those boxes.
You are absolutely correct, Richard! When my current tires wear out, I’m going to go on a search for some tires that would be better for asphalt, but would also get me through on mountain bike trails as well. I don’t know what they are yet, definitely want to look at Schwalbe, I believe they will have a perfect tire in their huge line of tires. My goal is to have this bike be my do everything bike. I’m not out to win races, so I’m not concerned about top speed, however, I want the least rolling resistance that I can get, while still getting me through on trails.
Safe, adventuring out there!

Great review. Looking forward to your rides. Hope you can combine cycling with kayaking on the same trip!
Now there's a great idea! I need to figure out how to do that. My plans are to do my first bike packing adventure this October. Two days / one night! Stay safe and thanks for watching !!
I have one of these as well. Priority makes great bikes. I swapped out the stem and handlebars for BMX bars with a 9" rise. I like to sit completely upright when riding.
Glad to hear you like yours too! It seems, with every bike I own, I always do a few mods to make it fit me the way I need it too. I swapped out the saddle
which I do on every bike and since my legs are very long, I installed a set back seat post that I ordered on Amazon. Fits me and is tuned perfectly for my body
now!
I have the 600n and the Apollo from them and they are fantastic bikes, a huge amount of bang for the buck from this company.
You are absolutely right! The quality and the features that you get in these bikes is really what drew me to this company! I’m so glad that I got the 600 X. I had the Apollo before and thoroughly loved that as well. I just wanted more of a do everything bike and that’s what the 600 X is doing for me.

Nice little review on a cool bike. Looking forward to seeing some bike packing trip videos 😀
Thank you so much for watching and your comments! I have never bike backed before, but I intend to on this bike. I have a couple more bags to get and need to get out of the summer months in Texas. Hopefully I will get out this fall for my first bike, packing adventure.
@KayakCliff pretty much the same thing for me. I've never gone, but really want to. Also this isn't a good time of the year to go, at least not in Arizona even if you like the heat.
I really like the bike and thought about getting one, but the geometry just isn't suited for my type of riding. I planned on doing a custom built frame for a gear box, but skipped out on that since prices have jumped up so much after covid.
👍 safe adventuring out there, Buck!
Thanks!
Welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hi Cliff. I've had my 600X since April 2021. I have just under 2000 miles on it and lovin' it. I also have a 600HXT on order.
Hey 👋 Dave - thank you so much for watching and commenting! Have fun with that 600HXT. Looks like an awesome bike!
Have a great week!
Thanks for the cool review. Is that a "Shelta" hat? I got one bout the same as you do lol. Small world. I love my Priority 600X and I'm running WTB Ranger 3.0 inch wide tires on mine. So far so good.
Hi 👋 There! YES, I wear and love Shelta hats! I’m actually an affiliate for them and wear them in most all of my videos, again, Love theirs hats! 3.0’s that is
great to know, thanks for sharing your experience! Safe adventuring out there!
I'm with you in that I just really need climbing gears. I live in SW Pa and there's no shortage of hills, so I would be greatly interested in this bike for that. Thanks for the video. Very well done

Great review BUT SUPER DUPER AWESOME bike 😃
I agree Dale and LOVE your enthusiasm!!!
Hey there. New to the channel. Thanks so much for the review. I'm trying to convince myself. Ive never been bikepacking but want to try it. I realize its a low maintenance bile but wasn't sure if local bike shops would even know how to work on it.
Thanks for the info
Hi 👋 there! Thanks for watching and commenting! My experience has been that good bike shops with really good, career minded mechanics
love to see a different bike come in. It breaks the monotony of working on the same style of bike components day after day. When I have had
my Brompton, Apollo and 600X in for service, they have always been great at it. More and more bikes are coming out with internal gearing, so
they won’t be totally foreign to most mechanics. That being said, with the 600X Pinion, these gears are designed for very high mileage with
proper maintenance. You’ll likely never have anything that needs to be done to them other than changing out the gear fluid every 6,000 miles or
once a year, whichever comes first. Hope this helps, have a great weekend!

Any feedback on the weight of the bike? Seems a bit heavy?
Wish I could find someone in AZ that would let me try a 5 min test ride.
@michaelp1109
34 lbs.
Curious, did you ever get to test ride or perhaps purchase a 600x? I'm strongly considering purchasing a 600x or 600hxt and would appreciate any comments you have if you got to test ride or purchased one.
Thanks
Such a detailed and useful review. Thanks Cliff!
How does it ride on the road? Do you think, one could take it on a cross country trip?
Than you!
Great question, thank you for watching and commenting! Even though I do ride my 600 X on single track mountain bike trails, the majority of my riding is on paved surfaces. I absolutely love it! A good friend of mine down in Florida rode his 600 X from Rehoboth Beach Maryland to the Malibu pier in California last year. Took him four months and he did it on his 600 X. Check out his videos of the trip on TH-cam - Bruce Bikes America.

Hi everyone. After more than one year and 2000+km . Here is my feed back. The geometry is not the best but still good enough to enjoy the ride. Brake should be upgraded if you like riding without headache. Rear hub is another weak point if you're planning to go for long have spare parts with you or upgrade it. The belt is very sensitive to heavy mud (whatch the video that Duzer broke his belt) so do bike walkig in mud if you do want to bike walk the rest of the route. All the bottle provisions are good only on large size if you getting other sizes especially small you will have problems with fitting the bottle holders.
My up upgrades:
Break to Shimano
Rear wheel set to Shimano
Handle bar to jones
Thanks for your feedback! Safe adventuring in 2024!
Questions: Why do you consider Shimano brakes better for the bike than Hayes Dominion? Also, Duzer snapped the belt due to improper reinstalling it after mud moved it off the sprockets. He should have moved the rear axle forward to relieve tension and slipped the belt back on sideways, instead of wrapping it and forcing it on with a crank rotation (requires belt stretch and frame flex to achieve, totally unnecessary) which damaged the fibers.
What specifically would you change about the frame geo to make it more suitable to your style? I believe the geo is similar to XC bikes these days, not the slack and radical geo of full suspension trail MTBs.
Thanks for the consideration!
@@exothermal.sprocket
Hi. I picked Shimano because it's much easier to adjust and we have on our other bikes. After removing wheels it takes me less than 5 min to adjust Shimano if it's required. the original brakes needed adjustment every time and it wasn't as easy as Shimano. (We have 3 priorities 2 large one small).
If your belt comes off, it already damaged. doesn't matter it comes off or goes on if it's not done in proper way , it's gone. at least this is what we experienced.
I think bottom bracket should move forward about one inch. Probably because they used 29 in tires they forced to put it there ( fixed belt length) . That what I feel in comparison to my other bikes
Happy rides
@@bobakq Thank you for the information!
I watched Duzer's ride across Colorado. Also his review of the 600x and what Priority has reported form all of its users of the belt system. It's intriguing to say the least.
@lifted_above I don’t think I ever mentioned Shimano brakes in the video. Priority replaced my defective Hayes Dominion brakes with Tektro brakes that work great! I love their customer service.
Hey Kayak Cliff! Thank you for all your amazing content and education! I really appreciate all your videos!
I am commenting on this video with my question since it's your most recent video!
However, I have watched all your videos on your Sea Eagles Kayaks! (393rl, 380x, 385ft)
I am in Chicago, IL and am seeking my own kayak for Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. (As well as something to travel with) I am a beginner kayaker! Mostly on flatwater.
Right now I am on the verge of deciding between the Sea Eagle 380x Explorer, and the Sea Eagle 385 Fast Track!
Stability is very important to me, however, I would love SOME speed. While having a very durable kayak.
After reading a lot of the reviews on the Sea Eagle website, it appears some people had durability issues with the 385ft verses the 380x. I wanted to ask you this in your opinion. Is the 385ft super durable for you? Or would you recommend the 380x? And do you think the 380x will be super/too slow on the flat water here in Chicago?
Thank you so much!
Hi there, Quincy! Thank you so much for watching and responding and please accept my apologies for being so late on getting back to you. The fast track will definitely give you a little bit more speed and it is extremely stable. If you are ever going to be doing Rivers and Whitewater where it gets very shallow when you scrape the bottom some, the explorer is probably better to go with because it does not have the inflatable keel.
When the fast track had some problems, it was because of the inflatable floor. I think all of those problems have been remedied and don’t think anybody has those anymore. The good thing, is you have a three-year warranty with sea eagle and their customer service is excellent, and they will replace , your floor, if anything happens to it or other parts of the boat. Again their customer service is excellent. If you are going to have a problem, it will be in your first couple outings, but to my knowledge, all of those past problems have been remedied. Their quality is excellent!

It does not cost you anything extra, it just gets my channel a little bit back to help support my video development. Thank you so much for your support :-)

@@KayakCliff What a great reply! Thank you very much, Cliff!
Hi Cliff. Great review and thoughts on the 600X. Duzer was also my inspiration last year for my 600X purchase. I was wondering what kind of wash brush you were using to clean your bike? Thanks!
I have a long wand, soft bristle car wash brush that I use for scrubbing the whole bike down. Nice and gentle, with car wash soap.
Main thing is make sure any abrasives that come off the bike and get into the brush are rinsed away, before scrubbing the bike again. Some people who wash cars use a 2-bucket method; one for rinsing grit off, the other for suds reapplication.
I haven't seen any video or pictures of the riding position of this bike. If you could post some, that would be great. Take care!

HeyEric, it's a very upright riding position. On the attached video link, I have some 360 video, shot third person, of me riding the bike. Maybe this will give you a good idea.
Would love them to build a version of this with the new pinion e1.12 system.
The new 600HXT has the electric version of the Pinion box. Here’s the link kayakcliff.com/priority-bikes
@@KayakCliff the e1.12 is a new “motor gear unit” with an electric motor and gearbox in one, that pinion revealed at the EU bike show this summer.
Is the belt drive quiet? I saw another review where it was kinda squeaky? thanks great review!
Hi 👋 - My belt drive has always been whisper quiet on my 600x and Apollo. I hear it can make a little noise if riding in sustained very dusty conditions. A squirt of water on the belt stops that right away.
Hope this helps!

lol, just for clarity they are seat stays 😉
Hi! How about that suspension fork, how often do you need to do some maintenence and is it doable on the road? If you do long trips like tour divide?
Hi @wheelsofdream, I have not had any problems with the fork. After a year a riding, I decided to check the pressure to see if it had bled out at all and I was amazed to find that the pressures were still the same - 36lbs. on top and bottom. Most of my riding was on the road, if you wan the shocks locked out, while on the road, they run nice and stiff. Hope this helps!

Hi brilliant info sir , stunning looking bike ,would you say it,s a hybrid bike or not .
Thanks for watching and commenting Tom! Although you can ride it as a beefed up commuter or hybrid, it definitely goes beyond what you can
do on a hybrid. It’s an adventure bike that can handle anything a regular hard tail MTB can handle, but also carries a bunch of gear for those that
want to go bike packing. If you are looking for the hybrid equivalent of this bike, you should at the Priority 600, instead of the 600X

Hi Cliff, do you know if this bike has fender mounts? Perhaps you mentioned it and I misssed that part.
Hi 👋 David - it does not, at least on the model that I have, which is about a year old. If, and when I ever need fenders, I’m just gonna get some of the potable ones that clip onto a mountain bike. Have you ever used that type? Have a great week!

How would this be for commuting to work? All paved roads. Thinking some supple ReneHerse slicks. And on the weekends some gravel riding. Or do I need two different bikes? Currently riding a CO-Motion Deschutes as my commuter. Thank you.
You can absolutely make this your commuting to work bike and you’re having fun on dirt trails. Bike on the weekends. A good friend of mine Road his priority 600 X across the country last year. Check out Bruce Bikes America on TH-cam
I use my 600 X for all of my riding. My weekly workout rides have me riding on sidewalks, City bike paths, roads, and mountain bike trails. Sometimes, all 4 in one riding session.
The tires that it comes with work well across all surface types. You can do better though, if you put some smoother tires on for road riding. That’s what Bruce did when he biked across America.

Awesome, thank you for the quick reply. Love so many things about this bike. Most of all the pinion gears and belt drive. I run belts on my tandem, so nice.
Number one bike i would buy when in America...but in europe we can t get this. here Pinion is produced but a bike with these specs cost 6k €.
Oh wow! That’s a lot!!! You sure do get your moneys worth, with the pricing on the 600x here in the US! Probably high VAT taxes in Europe.

wondering what seatpost you have? looks like it brings you back a little farther than the original, and do you like it?
I ordered it off Amazon. It is an offset seat post that sets me back a little. Nothing wrong with the bike, I just have a very long inseam at 34 1/2” It works best if my kneecap is slightly rear of the pedal axle. I usually make this accommodation on every bike that I buy.
Outside hard core trail use with a good 160 travel MTB, this machine seems like the no-brainer for doing everything else. It may not be as efficient, fast, or light as a road bike (and it's not), but it's that ultra-low maintenance machine that does it all. Jack of all trades.
By the way, how fast can you go in 12th gear keeping a functional pedaling cadence? Any actual MPH speed? I'm curious.
I've never clocked myself on flat ground going all out in 12th gear, I would imagine that I would get up to 18-19 mph. Going downhill, I will get up to about 25.
@@KayakCliff Okay cool. If you get a chance to clock yourself sometime, post a video about it maybe.
@lifted_above Ok, I will. Thanks!
How would you compare the Priority 600x vs the Velotraum Finder?
Great question! I just looked up that bike on their website, cool bike and I love the Orange color! The biggest difference is that the VeloTraum Finder
is more of a commuter bike, that can go off road a little too. The Priority 600X has 110mm travel front shocks, which the Finder has just a rigid
front fork. Also the Fenders on the Finder would be more useful for commuting, but would load up with caked mud if you go too crazy off road. The
tires on the Finder seem more road friendly than off road. So, the biggest difference is lack of shocks and the fenders on the Finder, there are
less braze on locations to add extra water bottles too on the Finder. If you want something more like the Finder from Priority, I would look at the Priority 600. I’ll put a link below. Hope this helps!
Priority 600 - Top of the line commuter, touring, fitness (everything bike)
bit.ly/3AnYxKw
Priority 600X - The do everything mountain / adventure bike!
bit.ly/3tLHyAP
@@KayakCliff Yeah makes sense.. apparently the Velotraum is highly customizable though.. with colors.. and you don't have to have those shocks.. and can also get a suspension fork.. but yeah in general it is more balance for commuting.. road and still some off road.. I just really like the look of it in a lot of ways to be honest.. but yeah need to assess overall functionality more.
Any fender mounts to the 600X?
Hi 👋 there! There are not any specific brazed on fender mounts on the 600X. That being said, there are a multitude of third party fenders that
are designed to integrate with mountain / adventure bikes for when you need them on a wet adventure. They are typically plastic, easy to put
on and very effective for when needed. Hope this helps!
Priority 600X - The do everything mountain / adventure bike!

I hear the 32oz bottles are going to hit on the seatstays...did you ever try?
Absolutely, only water bottles that will work on the rear racks are standard small bicycle water bottles
Cliff do you think this is 2x the bike of the Apollo? 1899$-3500$ is a big jump
Hi LogicalQ - yes, for me it definitely was worth the upgrade. I bought the Apollo first and used it for a year and thoroughly loved it. Awesome bike! I just wanted something that I could ride gravel, bike pack better on, and ride single track, blue or green mountain bike trails. For me, owning both of those bikes, financially was not going to happen. I had to choose one or the other, so I chose the 600 X. I’ve been riding it hard for a year now, and not one single issue, except for the brakes when they first shipped it to me. They (Priority) fixed that immediately.

Do you notice the extra weight of the bike when loaded for bikepacking? It's definitely on the heavy side for an aluminum HT frame with the lightweight Wren fork?
Hi David - The added weight is because of the Pinion gear box. I & others have noticed that the Pinion being centrally located in the middle of the bike at
the crank location centralizes the weight in the middle of the bike rather than on the ends of the bike. This ultimately gives a more secure ride by having the
highest amount of the bikes weight in the middle of the bike. You are right, it is heavy for an aluminum bike, probably 2-3 lbs. heavier, I’m not a racer
though, so it doesn’t bother me. I LOVE how the 600X is virtually maintenance free, with a 600% gear ration. The carbon belt drive vs. a chain is great
not having any grease to deal with at all. Just hose off and clean with soapy water. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
bit.ly/3tLHyAP
@@KayakCliff - Thanks, Hard Tail Party did an excellent review on this bike and quickly found its limits as a true mountain bike. Where it shined was how Ryan designed it, for forest/gravel roads and tamer (not too technical) single track... more as a pure adventure/bikepacking bike. Weight and the Wren fork were two weaknesses he pointed out. But to your and his point on value, to get a lighter Pinion bike you're spending a lot more money.
Thanks for watching and commenting Dave! You are absolutely right, for tamer and not super technical single track, plus gravel biking and bike packing, this bike reins. I see that priority just came out with a second version of the 600 X which I think will address the more technical rides!
Love your hat; what brand and model? Thanks!
If someone wanted to have an extra rear wheel to simply swap out different tires, given the ‘specialty’ wheel I am guessing a person pretty much needs to buy it from Priority…?
I’m guessing the change from Hayes Dominion to Tektro Orion is the price; the Tektro are less than half the price of the Hayes. 😉
When I got the bike with the faulty Hayes Dominion breaks, this was during the supply chain problems. They could not get me Hayes, and offered
the Tektro as an equal alternative - I took them at their word and am totally happy with what they gave me. My bike mechanic told me it would be
an equivalent too. Oh well, I’m happy with them and they work great 👍
Cliff what is true weight with pedals? Doug
I will put it on my digital scale and get back to you shortly.
My large with pedals, water cage and frame bag is 34.5 lbs.
@@KayakCliff thanks a lot for the info Cliff.
Would you do the transamerica route fully loaded on this bike?
Hi Steve - I think the 600X would be perfect for that type of adventure. Not because I have experience riding such an awesome route across continents
but because I’ve witnessed it’s construction over a year of multi-use riding conditions. I also watch “Ryan Van Duzer” on TH-cam. He rides the 600X
across countries on 1,000+ mile treks and really puts it through a beating. He shows how durable this bike is. I have read and watched others that
put their Pinion gearbox / carbon belt drive system through tens of thousands of miles of use with no problems. Hope this helps! bit.ly/3tLHyAP
@KayakCliff my main concern is front and rear racks that will hold my ortlieb panniers (40L rear, 25L front) which will hold

Check out, Ryan Van duzer’s channel and his unbelievable adventure videos. He is the one that designed this bike with priority. I included the link to his channel above.
Also, call priority, customer service. They are excellent and they could give you some good insights.
Can the Priority 600x be bought in the UK
Hi 👋 There! Priority sells all their bikes online. Their only store to my knowledge is in NYC. Yes, I’m sure they could ship you one in the UK, I believe they
ship anywhere! The beauty with their bikes is they don’t require a bike store to assemble them. Anyone can do it - super easy! Constant adjustments
from a bike store are not needed as well.

Cool bike
It really is! I’ve been up in the mountains of North Carolina the last two weeks using it. Just rode it on the Virginia creeper rail trail. Really cool trail!

@@KayakCliff I am in the Rockies so there are some serious mountains here.. I would probably use it more in the Denver Metro area where the hills are more tame..
@darinsmith2458 i’m with you on that one! At 57, my knees don’t like heavy mountain terrain. Low land riding suits me better. Safe adventuring out there!
Did the bike manage the hills ok in WNC? I’m in the Asheville suburbs and considering this as my only bike. Thanks.
@kevinbiggs3753 hey there, Kevin, absolutely, with so many gears on the low end, it does wonderfully up in the west North Carolina mountains. 600% gear ratio really does great for me! The only thing better would be an e-mountain bike. Not ready for that yet, though!

Slow down for pedestrians, even on trails. 😀
Lol, if you are referring to that guy that passed my on the trail on the video. He popped out of nowhere when I was coming around a turn. Totally
agree with you though!!!
Every 1000 mile oil change, reccomended.
I did not know that. I had heard and I believe I read 5000 miles. I definitely need to look into that! Are you talking about the gearbox?
I just checked priorities website and the recommendation for changing the gear fluid is every 10,000 km or 6200 miles. Or, once a year. I am due, because it has been over a year.
@@KayakCliff Thanks for clearing it up. I was told a thousand. Great machine.

How tall are you and what size did you go with?
I’m 6’ with a 34-1/4” inseam. The bike runs a little on the large side. Fits me perfectly, but I have a friend who is 6’2” with a 32” inseam and rides a medium 600x. What’s your height and inseam?

I’m 6’ with a 32” inseam. The priority site says I’d be a medium but I’m worried I’d it wouldn’t size right.

This is my buddies, TH-cam channel who biked across America on the 600 X. He is 6 foot one or two and 32 inch inseam. He is riding a medium. With a 32 inch inseam, you will not have enough stand over clearance, or your crotch will be right on the bar. The bike is definitely built on the large side.

@@KayakCliff You didn't mention what size you got (unless I missed it)
@leonfisher hi there, sorry I missed this! I am 6 foot with a 34 1/4 inseam. I bought the large. It is perfectly fit for me.

Hi Webster Fenoff, not sure what your message means… But anyway, hope you’re having a great week! 🤙
No thanks 600x is not worth $1000 over the 600...sorry...there is no brazen screw holes for a frame lock... and i wish they gave us 30 mm id rims!!!👎
If you are doing any off road riding, you’re going to appreciate the 600x over the 600. If you are just commuting and city riding, the 600 is perfect!

Learn to work on your own bike, maybe....? Brakes are easy
I couldn’t agree, more, if it was fixable. There was a piston that was sticking and faulty in the hydraulic brake lever. After taking it to two reputable bike shops, where mechanics cannot figure out the problem, I figured it was prudent to reach out to priority and get a replacement. I was more than happy to let the mechanic replace them for me, since priority was paying for the labor. After all, it was a brand new bike, and if there was something faulty, I deserved to have new and have it installed.
Cliff, you did the right thing going for the warranty. Plus, as a bike mechanic I can tell you that hydraulic brakes are not that easy to and you MUST have the correct tools. I thought your review was great and covered the bike well. Subscribed!
Really appreciate this review and your enthusiasm. Thanks for this review.
