I got a copy of Excalibur. But some tart in a lake gave it to me and now the Brittons are trying to base a whole political system around it, when all I wanted to do was spice up my Dihada deck.
@@jaketri3 obeka does really well with equipments attached to her but her main gimmick is getting additional upkeeps for how much damage she does to opponents. So, she’s a legendary creature who I can now slap a +10/+0 to along with vigilance to swing at an opponent and crush them with the sheer amount of effects that have upkeep triggers. I mean that’s 12 upkeeps right there if she swings unblocked (which she has menace and I have cards to help make her unblockable so there’s a good chance she swings free). So I guess not so much a direct equipment synergy, she just gets a lot out of a massive bump to her power.
The TRUE use of The Sword of Power! Strongly considering putting it in my Vorinclex, MR deck, because I’m *constantly* finding myself Tutoring for Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus. It’d probably be Win More, but the idea of a Phyrexian with Excalibur tickles me.

Basim got me wanting to build a Dimir Voltron x Power Rangers crossover deck. To explain: It's not just ONE super powered robot (creature). It's MULTIPLE super powered robots!
I might put Excalibur into my Dihada, Binder of Wills superfriends deck because it would pair very nicely with several of the legendary creatures in the deck to not only protect Dihada and her super friends but to swing out to win as well
ive dropped basim on turn 2 twice now in my connor deck, and so far it has won me both games. scaling to 6+ counters both times, its a great engine to keep going with the equipment heavy deck. even getting him down later he can still scale nicely. hes good asf.
Bought a Bundle the first week of release, got a Basim a Regular and a Showcase Frame both Foil, built a voltron deck around it, it's a f...ing Menace 😂
I really don't think excaliber is a good card, unless you are specifically using trample and first strike/double strike for your evasion on your voltron commander. Because without trample, most times this extra damage is going to be unnecessary. Either your commander is getting through, or its not. Either it has double strike, or it will need to 2 shot them anyway. It just seems like a win more card, there are SOOO many situations where this will be the absolute worst card in your deck, whether that's when its in your opening hand, or if you top deck it after an artifact board wipe. Or hell, even if you just draw it without any evasion. Because unlike blackblade, this thing doesn't let you swing into a full board. And then on the inverse, there are only a few situations where i want this card, it has to be drawn in the mid game, after you've developed 3-4 other equipments, and before the board wipe happens. I think its a noob trap tbh.
I mean, in the exact same set you have the very good Regalia for your "getting in" needs, and its not like Voltron Decks haven't run silly "just give me big number" equips like the giant hammer This one is often going to be really cheap because its HISTORIC Cards, not just Equips or Artifacts, so your Commander discounts it, your mana rocks discount it, your other Legendaries who're generating value discount it
Functionally, yes, technically it just triggers ward 2 twice. It’s actually slightly better since ward technically can be countered by things like stifle, and this would require two ways to do that, but it’s just an edge case.
The cost reduction is only for its casting cost, not the equip cost. But 2 mana is pretty cheap regardless, main restriction is simply that you can't equip it to anything that isn't legendary (without outside support)
When you say "in 1600 decks already" are these actual decks people play or did a bunch of people make 40 versions of a deck that they are never going to use on edh rec lol
How they're handling this "set" is horrible but the cards are actually awesome. Ezio is one of the best assassin commanders, a lot of the cards do a lot with historic, and Edward kenway is insane.
