My perferred setup: Solar panel linked to the Electric Compostor (With materials and cans inside waiting) so from the time the sun activates the Solar Panel ( 7:40 am - ? ) While the Solar Panel i'll be off mining resources or gather food or whatever i need to do, then if i so desire i can have my generator run how ever long i want (there are like 5 slots above the "fuel" slot which i think those take over if the can in fuel tab runs out ... (not sure need to test this) and then i can have generators running all night smelting or whatever i need done. Also two more tips a) if you build a light that runs on electric and connect that into solar panel you'll know if you have active power at certain times and b) you can link multiple solar panels and generators into the same 'grid' you just have to connect the wires to that little round device. So you want to run 2 electric furnaces using 2 generators that gets it fuel filled from the solar panel/electric composter you can. Another note is there is a difference between the masonry bench and the electric masonry bench. They both require the same amount of materials but the non-electric takes aprox 5 seconds per stone floor, where the electric take 2-3 seconds per stone floor, so if you have to build alot fast and got the resources you should invest in the electric version. (Haven't tested the Chemistry Table which is essentially the Herbalism Bench. Hope this helps! :)
Thanks for the info. I did complete the Payday mission last week and then I see they are lowering material cost for some of the Tier4 stuff, which they absolutely should do. Now they need to give us some missions where we need to build high end stuff!
you need the generator anyway, you have to power the electric furnace to smelt composites. so the solar panel is pointless, but you can only run two items from one generator, so you need 3 of them most of the time
Wait, so you can craft a generator, fuel for said generator, and solar panels, but not batteries to store power from the solar panels? Doesn't that severely limit their utility? Why build solar panels then?
@@ShabbyDoo wow seems like a big oversight. Batteries seem like they would fit well into the game, and they would work with the generator too in case you run out of fuel. Hopefully they add it sometime. I'm having a blast with this game
You can use them on electric deep mining drills, they'll run during the day, turn off at night, but you leave them out for a few days then collect at your convenience. No need for biofuel cans.
Um so if you produce more then you need on the solar panel is there any plans or any way to have a storage battery, say so when the sun goes down you start pulling from a battery and there for have a solar farm and no need for a generator??
Should implement a power storage system for the solar panels that way the lights can work at night as well. Otherwise why even use the solar panels or lights to begin with
They rebalanced some things but the cable was certainly not infinite. In the mission where you have to drill through 2 walls to get to the desert , they give you a solar panel and cable. There was just enough cable to reach the first wall. That was before they added more gold spawns, so there was just enough gold to make the fab and the cable.

Love it!
"Completed Game"
Use the sickle to gather fiber. I use the sticks for the tree sap.
Agreed! Much better
Your outro made me sub lmao good vids man
Awesome thank you! :D
If they ever add a form of automation, bio will be the ultimate way to go. Although a battery/transformer, will back up the solar panel.
This was very helpful. I think i'll stay with biofuel generator. thanks for making this
They should add batteries
Verry usefull, now i need to show my friend in play why we dont need the solar panel :)

Whoa calm down there champ... I can't afford to buy all the friends needed to do some super high tier mission 😁
6:40 You are on a moon orbiting a gas giant
Really helpful coverage. This helped me a lot. Was gonna do waterwheels and maybe solar but think I’ll just stick to my bio fuel gen or two.
I haven't played in a good minute so I haven't delved into the Water Wheels myself but hopefully they're useful :)

Good thing is they secretly changed the power outage of the bio fuel generator to 5000(doubled) so you ran mostly everything on one or two now
I use fiber. Iron scythe 60 seconds equals thousands in fiber. Sticks are a good back up but fiber is cheaper
Very true
Wait, WHICH cardinal direction did you say the sun rises from!!?!???!?!?
Wait, so you can craft a generator, fuel for said generator, and solar panels, but not batteries to store power from the solar panels? Doesn't that severely limit their utility? Why build solar panels then?
You don't, total waste of resources IMO

Haven't heard anything on the dev side about this, I really hope so though. Because of its limited use I never make solar panels
So if you want to power lights, you can’t use a solar panel. Because it doesn’t get power at night.. can you store power somehow?
Nope! It's a great system... younmust use a bio fuel generator for night time use. Unless they eventually add a battery for energy storage
Should implement a power storage system for the solar panels that way the lights can work at night as well. Otherwise why even use the solar panels or lights to begin with
I've only used them for a video or if the quest has you make it. Worthless item without an energy storage

They must have fixed the cable length cause i had the panel by the outside pond and had no issue getting to the 2nd wall
Odd I need to play with it next time more and see how much I get. I've never run out even when doing things quite far
I wish electronics were just gold & copper bars lol
