Dude, before investing into any of these light sources I need to see a preview, and here you are. Excellent job, really helped me I just started playing.
I think the most annoying thing about the wall and floor lights is the position and tech it requires, its tier 3 yet you need tier 4 stuff to actually use them (Power generation and the electricity tool)
Yeah the devs were very lazy about blueprint placements. They definitely needed to make other tiers feel full so the put things in the wrong tiers. If you can't build it within the tier, it's in the wrong blueprint section. That simple.
Wood torch for my hand and floor torch for my shelter or cave (or even out doors). The only other one I find really worth crafting is the Biofuel Lamp. The bright white penetrating directional lighting is very handy at times when you have got to be able to see something at distance (like the nooks and crannies of a cave ceiling). I don't like the white light of the basic electric lights for ambient light, but if high visibility is ever needed and you got the generator already (and spare capacity) I suppose the ceiling light may have good uses.
I personally don't use any lighting sources, except for the fireplace, which I use for cooking not lighting. My monitor is turned up quite bright from playing CS:GO and my gamma is turned up a little bit as well. So, if I get caught outside when night comes, I have enough brightness that I can well enough get back to my house. When I get back to my house I just sleep because the sleeping buff is nice and I don't have to deal with it being night out. Good breakdown though, I am sure it will help people out.
Quick tip to all regarding biofuel generators. You can "stack" two or more gennys to one main leading wire to to declutter them. On my outpost I have 10 or so generators in a shack (got noise complaints) away from my house with only one wire going inside and then splitting it from there. Great vid, Shabby! Learned something as usual 😁
Floor torches rock. Cheap as hell to craft with no bench required. Put one full stack of wood in it and your grandchildren will still be running missions with it long after you are gone.
im not using any light source at all. step 1: after landing, craft a bedroll. step 2: skip the night asap. will grant you a buff aswell... however, if i had to, i'd use the wood floor torch, cheapest and best source of light imo
in early game i prefer also the floor torch... later on i stick also to the basic ceiling lights! decent light source, cheap and nice lighting! I think the omnidirectional lights are good use in concret, aluminum and maybe even in glass builings. it fits very well to ne "modern" style of the building :)
What Happened? latest update, the lighting reminds me of old Triumph motorcycles w/that Lucas Lighting...YELLOW, because of a bad ground! Is this the latest "upgrade" to Icarus?
Ceiling lights are my go-to, as you don't need that many of them to light an entire house. Too many bad experiences with fire-based torches burning my houses down :) I use floor torches in caves, fill them with wood & they last ages.
@@doctorz7305 Although I think that is a good thing, I find it quite aggravating that such material alterations to game mechanics could go undocumented.
The descriptions of items are pretty worthless. The real great use of the brazier is heat in the arctic. It burns hardly any fuel and is warmer than any fire.

Glad I could help!

Agreed. If you change the settings to what I have in my previous videos night isn't an issue, nor are caves haha
Totally agree with you. I am sad I checked your video too late since I have already spent the skill points on the ones I don't like.
Yeah the lighting is a rough one for sure

Rofl noise complaints! Tell Karen to relax 🤣 😂. This is very true though! Now with the gens hitting 5k power you can break down a few generators 😉
Floor torches plus ceiling my go to

Question, do you have high shadow settings or set low like myself?
I also like to use candles, cheap to make and produces a lot of light
Very true! I'm a troll so I just sit in dark caves with my camp fire 😅

I had to unlock everything for this haha! Except the cloth torch, only light source I had unlocked 🔓 😎
Did you build the house in a cave? If yes, at the end of the video, why is it raining in there?
Because it rains in caves in this finished game 🤣

Build that house out of stone! Hahs
Don't know when this was recorded, but the generator now supplies 5000 power
I could be wrong, but last time I used them the generator is 2500 and the solar panel seems to be 5000.
@@googleyt2622 correct, it was. Last night I did a spirit walk and they were 5000 for Gen now

They did a secret buff like a day or two later! Jerks are making me look bad 😄

Ooooh that's good to know. With the nano suit I never need a fire unless it's a storm
Again oquard tech tree since the tier 3 light's...don't work without a tier 4 generator
Yeah does not make sense
Thewre are meny othere things like this to broken in the same way T3 T4 worse then T1
So many broken / half asses items
