Building a Simple Cozy Off Grid Winter Log Cabin (anyone can do this) - ASMR (Start-to-Finish)

  • I build a super simple cabin on a very tight budget of just $7 using reclaimed materials and a few fasteners, bolts, threaded rod and a bit of hard work.
The small cabin is build from an a-frame template. It is very similar to a tent, but with solid back and front walls, with the tarp overlapping the frame. The tarp is also reused from bubble buildings such as soccer pitches and baseball diamonds. I really only spent money on the fasteners. A couple threaded rods, bolts, and some nails. I also use quite a few screws to hold down the floor which was reclaimed from palette wood, or skids.
I do not cut any live trees for this project, and am building in a replanted forest that was improperly managed for decades. My goal is to thin out the canopy of dead trees first, then cut out every other row to allow the forest to flourish and increase the tree diversity. Currently, all the trees in this forest are pines, and they don't allow any sunlight to reach the forest floor making it not very hospitable for forest critters.
Join us as we show you how to build a tiny cabin in the woods for a super low cost. All this can be done with a drill and screws, or a hammer and nails, a handsaw, circular saw, or chainsaw. We will also build a table, chair, and full bed!
The cabin sleeps 1 comfortably, but it's possible to get one more. If no stove is necessary, it's super easy to get one more person inside the tent, but there needs to be enough space behind the stove so the plastic doesn't melt.
If you decide to build this shelter, be sure to keep safety in mind and use a smoke detector.

"Self-Reliance" is an 1841 essay written by American transcendentalist philosopher and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson. It contains the most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes: the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his own instincts and ideas. This channel will approach self reliance from a modern perspective. and will focus on various build projects using modern amenities, and tools to build a completely self reliant lifestyle.

I always hear how forrests are maintained by cutting down some of the planted trees. We have saved grounds to be repurposed as landfills 20 years ago. By planting trees row by row. I don’t know yet what kind of trees they are. But I would love your support if we ever come to know and start a campaign to let the youth learn how to build cabins and survival shelters in these ones. Is there a theory behind the madness something that js researched?

He mentions in at least one previous video that this forest was not managed properly by whoever previously owned the land. This forest is a monoculture where the trees are planted too close together on purpose. They are meant to be thinned out after a time.
