- I got together with Stephanie and Paula for a doll day and we decided to go to the mall. Most of the time when we take our reborns out in public we have positive reactions but this time we had some negative ones and weird ones.

Why can’t people just let us live? My babies help me cope with so much and I want to take them everywhere and I feel like I have I hide them. It’s awful. People go out with their pets and overpamper them all the time, these dolls do the same thing for us. People need to mind their business and respect others lives. I strive to have your confidence!
whaleliam I agree... It is like therapy! I have considered the idea of this hobby as a therapeutic option along with my regular therapy.
Likewise with my Charlie Bears Teddies! My motto is : A bear with everything! Where I can't take one of my big bears with me, I have my bag buddy bear, and a bear on my keyring as well. My bears help me cope with life, as I was born with ADHD and higher functioning autism. If other people think we're wierd... then screw them! We're not hurting anyone, are we? Personally, I have lots of fun taking my cubs on adventures. I've even taken some of my cubs to my meet & greets, with the international band Il Divo. ( They loved them, because it was so different.) Some people have nicknamed me the bear lady, and i love it! Be you!
I'm in the process of getting me one after miscarrying my daughter. 💜 People with low to no background information tend to stand critical-mass majority. It doesn't matter what anyone think, be true to yourself!
I’m definitely starting to up my confidence a lot but it still concerns me to have them uncovered in public I’ve started taking my bigger baby out in a pram throughout the day and sometimes at night

One time I brought my silicone out in public. We went to Walmart just minding our own business. Then this lady and her daughter who looked about 4-5 came up to me. And the mom said to me “honey that is not how you hold a baby you will hurt it.” And I’m like, oh no it’s fine it’s a doll. And she took my doll out of my hand and was walking around with it and was trying to look for my mom to give it to. Then I called over my mom and she said to the lady “why do you have my daughters doll?!” Then the lady was like, oh see your daughter was not holding your baby correctly so it took it so that it would not get hurt. And my mom and I said “ITS A DOLL!!” Then the lady gave me back my doll and said “awww how cute is that doll. Were did you buy it my daughter has been wanting one of those.” And I was like WHAT!!!!! If your daughter wants one then you should have known that mine is JUST A DOLL!!!!!! Uggggggggggg. Love your channel! ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍

You guys are so fun I might actually get brave enough to bring one out in public if I had more friends like you guys! .... lol that lady thinking we all have these dolls because we don’t have kids? I have three biological children, four permanent foster children and have fostered 21 children in total (not at the same time! Lol) as well as I was a nanny before I had kids and did home daycare before I fostered. I definitely do not have reborns because of a lack of real children in my life! I have them because I have a deep incredible love of babies and dolls and it’s so relaxing and fun! We don’t have to explain ourselves to people that just only believe what they want to believe.
Yes it got to the point that I stopped answering because I realized she didn’t get it and I was ready to move on lol.
i have children as well and I LOVE my Dolls. I am SO glad to see I am not the only one. My SO keeps telling me that he thinks I am going threw some kind of mental break down or having my early woman stuff happening. I am 30......lol. People don't and wont understand.
But why would it be more offensive to be seen as having Reborns bc you don’t have children? Is it bad or shameful to not have children?
@@Danielle-nz9tn no it’s definitely not shameful to not have children. But it’s irritating when people think that’s the reason or the only reason we are in this hobby. Many of us have kids and many of us don’t. Some people use the dolls as therapy and many (most) of us just like dolls and enjoy the artistry of them. Neither is shameful or wrong. It’s just annoying when people make assumptions about us. I think doll collectors get a bit of a bad rap sometimes as being a bit crazy so it’s a sensitive topic to some of us. 🤗

Jashua looks so real. I'd love to see a realistic doll like that in public. Its like art and truly you guys know they are dolls so showing them off isn't weird to me. As a collector myself * of figures and rare manga.* I honestly get it. I hope you get positive attention more than negative. Just because they aren't alive doesn't mean they aren't beautiful.
One person thought I was handicapped, when they saw me out with one of my bears, a while ago. Then she turned to my Mum who was with me at the time, and said " It must be difficult looking after your handicapped daughter!" My Mum replied :"My daughter is normal, and this is her hobby!" The woman walked off, making a wierd face, as though she thought I was brain damaged! : >O

You girls had me giggling along from the start. I could see you were having the best time. I was literally wanting to be there for the fun & especially the baby clothes. I'm sorry Paula had this negative reaction & I'm glad she past that to come out again. Some people can be rude & disrespectful. This situation could of been dealt with in a much calmer way, Paula didn't deserve this. I'm sorry your day ended this way ❤🇬🇧
They reminded me when me and my besties would go to build a bear and then bring them around. There were three of us and it was our pre-wedding tradition.
I swear the amount of people in this hobby that have children out weighs the ones who dont by far! Its just a fun thing to do.
I think that the probing questions were in poor taste, very rude. But, calling out to complete strangers to come look at your doll...I would have shut her down on that. She was trying to validate her own opinion of you by involving other people to agree with her. You explained it very well, but she didn't like that answer. She then tried to prove another opinion of hers...that you take your babies on outings for attention. When someone starts to do that to me, I will tell them that I don't announce it, that if someone says something to me, only then do I let that person know it's a reborn, I am not looking to advertise. I am here, shopping with my girlfriends and would like to get on with that.
Don't try to overthink it though. She was trying to guilt you into her mental box, tried to "Dr. Phil" you. You are a stable minded doll collector and a positive person in the reborn community.
Also, let your girls know that I love seeing them in your videos.
Thanks Kylee. I basically just stopped responding and then she finally left. Lol With people over the top like her I tend to clam up and not know what to say because they are overpowering. So basically at that point I tried to just ignore it and wait for Paula to rejoin us lol

I think if you don't like the dolls, then keep it to yourself! I take mine out, but only if people ask I tell them, but other than that, I ignore people staring.... but so far not to negative reactions.
For some people like me they are comfort and fill in a hole of bad from my past

I've gotten comments from friends who call my baby a creepy doll, but for me he's more for the comforter because I have a problem with crouds others have no problem with me carrying him with me
he looks so adorable, people always snarl at things they can't comprehend. Love watching you have fun with the babies and your friends :)
I hope Stephanie just let it roll off her back. She did not owe that man any explanations at all. And yes I agree with you. Everyone seems to think that this hobby is to fill the void of not being able to have children. I can and probably will have kids one day. I don’t want kids now. Real babies and reborns are nothing alike. Being a reborn mom is really fun and easy! I hope y’all still had a great time even though y’all had some not so good reactions. 💜

I wondered about your doll habit when I first started watching too. I understood collecting them but couldn't understand taking them out in public. I didn't judge though. I just watched to learn about your niche group. I did wonder how Alex felt about it or if he was afraid of what others would think. I now know he's supportive though.

Suppose you actually had personal experiences with having children or lost a child....once she emotionally shattered you, would she be there to pick up the pieces?? No! She's incapable because she apparently has a slew of deeply rooted issues all of her own! Still doesn't excuse her rude, prying behavior. Shut those overtly types of people down before they even get started! Your phone just rang, answer it and turn your back while doing so lol
The other day I was walking around Target with my Reborn baby, Carly.. and some woman approached me and says "May I see your baby?" And I say, "Of course, just so you know, she's a doll" and she goes.. "Is it a school project?" I reply, "No, I'm 20 years old.." Then she just looks at me with THE MOST horrified face and walks away... I've not been able to work up the courage to bring my babies out anymore... :(
You most likely will never see that person again so don’t let them steal your joy. I have had some reactions like that but honestly 98% of the reactions I get are positive ones

People should learn to mind their business truly, I collect books as a bookworm and that has gained me criticism from friends who claim I waste my life away without socializing, but if they consider "socializing" getting drunk and hooking up, then let me better "hook up" with a nice book than a cuestionable gentleman Kay? I was accused by family in beginning of collecting that i was trying to fill void of having 2 stillborns but I loved to dress my real children as babies and now still enjoy baby clothes etc
Ive only had 1 bad reaction years ago and it took me awhile to take another out but now enjoy again
People are not open minded at times. My mom and dad don't know about my hobby. They live far away from me. I love my babies. Helps me because all my kiddos are married and dont have time for me. Helps to feel that void in my life.

I’ve used a high chair st Starbucks and Wendels for Benji and people smile. Never encountered an idiot before. This dude really needed to mind his own business. I love when Benji sits in the high chair. He’s so cute.
Joshua's outfit is really cute. He looks so sweet in his stroller, especially with his new Fozzie Bear.
Your video which I'm sure was initially to be a fun outing with your friends, ended up with so many challenging situations and difficult emotions.

Some people are to darn clever for their own good , how rude of the lady I felt sorry for the little girl , I must admit I have never had a bad reaction to my dolls only positive and fascination from people I'm 71 and always feel a bit shy but the buggy helps my balance we live in the UK and I think people are a little more reserved in what they say that's not to say they don't think differently, lots of love krystal don't let that put you off xxxx

I am sorry you had rude experiences. I think that a doll should never use something that is meant for a child, though. If I was in the food court and needed a high chair for my child and there wasn't one available to me I would be a bit frustrated and may choose not to eat there. If a reborn "mommy" wants to experience a restaurant or food court experience with their doll perhaps they can bring one of those lobster claw clip on seats for their toy so that a real child or parent is not inconvenienced. Also my parenting group brought up an interesting topic recently and it made me think of you Krystle. The group was discussing the fact that vloggers often capture footage of total strangers while they are filming in public places. Some vloggers take the time to blur the faces of strangers but most do not. Have you ever thought about that when you are vlogging in a mall or restaurant?
I can totally see your point however Stephanie is special needs so does do things a bit differently with this hobby. I personally wouldn’t use a high chair for my dolls but to each his own. As for vlogging in public it is way too time consuming to blur out faces of every person in the background. Plus it isn’t any different than taking photos in publish places which people have done for years. It is inevitable when out in public that you may end up in the background of someone’s picture or video. And it is totally legal. When it comes to people we are talking to about the hobby I will ask them if they are ok being filmed or I just won’t film their face, I will film my doll while you hear them talking in the background.
Fair enough. I wasn't criticizing Stephanie in any way. Just suggesting an possible solution. (smile) And I agree, to a point, that when a person is out and about they can expect to be photographed on security cameras etc but I would suggest that a vlogger who photographs someone "by accident" is different because they are then posting it on TH-cam or some other social media outlet. My parenting group was very much in agreement that this is where the line blurs and becomes more difficult to justify or to argue to the contrary. When I am in Swiss Chalet eating my dinner with my family I don't expect that someone a few tables over may be filming a vlog and catch me unaware slopping sauce down my shirt which then ends up on TH-cam for all the world to see. This may become more of a risk or possibility as the number of vloggers increases and as they share their lives on social media. I appreciate that you don't film people who ask not to be filmed but what about people who don't know they are being filmed and who don't have a choice in the matter? I am not being argumentative in any way here, Krystle, as I enjoy your vlogs and watch them quite often. I am just voicing the opinions that many ladies shared in our parenting group on this topic.

While I agree with you Cheryl, the Truth is that legally there is no expectation of privacy in a public area. This has been held up in court.Now certain stores do not permit filming in the store and that is a different story. Filming would be halted then. Also, how is filming any different than people walking around with the cell phone glued to their ear, chatting unrestrained about their husband cheating or their next door neighbor having a STD.
I would suggest that gossiping with a neighbour is not the same as posting a video on social media. Much like the game of "telephone", if I told my neighbour and she told her sister and her sister told her neighbour about the antics of the next door neighbour having an STD, the story would become diluted or altered over time. It is doubtful that it would ever go "viral". Unless the gossip was so juicy that it bore numerous tellings it would undoubtedly die out quickly and the face of the person being gossiped about might only be guessed at. In this case people are being captured on film and then put on social media without their knowledge or consent. I watch many vloggers and it is possible to vlog in a public place without capturing the faces of total strangers. My parenting group has talked about this subject ad nauseum. It may be legal but that doesn't make it right.
I am retired from the mental health field and also live in a very small town. I feel no matter where you are or what you do there will always be people who judge, comment, and gossip. The problem is with them. I have not gone on an outing in my small town as of yet. Yet, I can feel judgment just in my Facebook posts and know it will follow when I go out. Will I feel uncomfortable at first, for sure, but I have lived a lifetime worrying about what others think. I will remind myself, that if I'm happy and I am not harming anyone- the rest is bullshit!!

I love dressing and holding my reborns but I would not feel comfortable taking them out in public. I would expect negative reactions and a lot of questions. My family doesn't criticize me for owning them but they have asked why I like them so much. I have always had that motherly instinct even though my two children are adults. People don't understand how adult women could like reborns and dress them in baby clothes etc. I enjoy mine at home and don't want to be ridiculed. Unfortunately video games are accepted in our society and they aren't beneficial. I will still enjoy my dolls.
Ignore those people that mock you. We dolly mommies are happy...I'll bet THOSE people aren't! That woman sounds like she was trying to start something. And who are we hurting with our hobby anyway? I haven't had any seriously negative reactions yet...but I'll bet i will once I get a good stroller...not that I'm looking forward to negativity. I hope you make more of these outing videos!

I just took over your whole comment section here. My weirdest reaction was with this stuffed collie I have on top of the pram. 😂 I just left petsmart in port credit and I was getting my new hamster situated in the carrier in the pram below the boys. All of a sudden this woman comes up behind me and says “I thought there was SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH YOU because of how you’re walking around with that dog”. I was too busy to even really process. She peeks in the pram and said “you do have babies in there” “how old.” I said 3 months 😆 she walked away. I should’ve asked her “should I have the dog on a leash?” clearly there was SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG with that woman 😂
I brought my baby with me to the dentist cause I have severe dentist anxiety. The dental assistant knew what it was and loved Edmund. I did overhear another patient who saw say I was “wack” and that DA said “it’s no diffrent than you holding your stuffed animal right now. Whatever helps with someone be less anxious”
To me reborn dolls are a big thing in my life. Not only are they a work of art,They help others and myself.In my opinion i don't think they are scary i think they are beautiful. I personally have been having struggles coming out and telling friends that i do like dolls.Very few of then know,but the ones that do are the ones that have been there from the first day of 3rd grade all the way till now.And i am having struggles with school but coming home to me reborn's calm me down a lot.I am currently expecting the ''Serenity'' by bountiful baby. I am naming her Ladila after by grandmother that used to play with dolls too. Life is short and there is no reason to let others bring you down for what you love doing. Sit back,Relax,And enjoy life's precious moments.

Hi Crystal. Yes here I am rewatching this video 3 years later and now I have a huge reborn collection. When I got my BB Ana boy and girl twins I took Parker to Walmart and did an outing video. Omw there the cab driver actually thought he was a real baby. I told him it was a doll. He knew me from previous rides and saw my real children. His comment was very rude. He said that he thought I wanted another baby and that's why I was playing with a doll. Actually, I have 6 kids and a grandchild. I am very much so done having children. This is one of the reasons I collect reborns other than just my love for dolls.
Why is ok for adult male to be into sports car or collect them or whatever.or other can have other hobbies but if we like dolls everyone wants to act like there something weird or not right going on .I don't care like is to short to care what stranger think .for me I can't have kids cuse I have autism .maybe if I had met someone who knows but I didn't so I like dolls .but I know they aren't real .like my nieces an nephews @@@ .if someone into them an thinks an acts like they are real then that is a proublem .but im pretty sure most of us no it's not and we just like to do it for fun.i don't An never will understand other adults who like to get into other Business.or still like to make fun of others smh.i never had any iusse but still

As an adult male who collects bjd, puppets, video games, dolls, action figures,funk pops, hot wheels, godzilla figures,..I have no idea. My first reborn will be here on the june 16th ✌
Sometimes I wish people knew that most of the time the dolls are not to replace kids, tho sometimes for some people they are. I have PCOS (Poly cystic ovary syndrome) which can cause either infertility or make having children a hard time. Pcos ends up causing me extreme stress and depression which is why I have my dolls. I use them to cope because Ik when I decide to try for a baby it will put a lot of mental anguish on me. It’s not to replace a kid but to help cope. For others it’s nostalgia and for some it’s just a calming thing. I really wish people knew that but I doubt most will. We aren’t insane or crazy, we just still like playing with dolls and need a little more love in our lives

So when people ask me inappropriate questions. I always ask, “why do you ask? Or Why do you want to know!” This puts them into the position they are wanting to put you into. I had to actually practice this technique because it does not come natural to me. But it totally works. And I don’t allow them to give answers like, “I was just wondering..”. I will continue to question their motivation for wanting to know my psyche. Does that make sense? It totally works. Love your video❤

I have reborns for anxiety, and other reasons. I do not understand why we can't just have them without needing to EXPLAIN ourselves, whether it's just enjoying collecting them, or you have them for specific reasons like anxiety, if it helps, it helps! It doesn't harm anyone else.

Krystle, I am a lady in my 70's and have raised 4 children and have 4 Step children and I have no void to fill, but I have 4 reborn and have great fun with them, and really don't need to be analyzed. Remember stay calm and play with dolls, be you.❤️🇨🇦

If my husband was there with y'all he would stand up for y'all he doesn't tolerate bullying and he is very supportive of me and my reborns bc he loves them to and understand they help me with my anxiety and depression and they help him with his PTSD, so he is all for supporting the reborn mommies.
That’s so awesome. My husband supports my hobby but he doesn’t like me taking them in public with him because he doesn’t like drawing attention.
My husband loves the attention it brings, there's several times he grabbed my silicone and goes out with her to Walmart or something, and if someone gave a negative review which no one has...yet, he would tell them off lol

I can not contain myself in the Disney Store either! ☺️❤️🛍 I enjoyed your vlog. Your Saskia is so cute. I have had mostly all positive reactions when I’ve been out with my reborns. If people thought other than nice things they kept it to themselves. I tend to be very reserved and I don’t like to have discussions about the dolls. If someone compliments them I usually say thank you and continue on.
I watched this video a while back too. I have my baby girl Zoey bc of one side of my family then I had a miscarriage when I was 19. She majorly helps with that. My best friend asked me why I enjoyed taking her out and getting things for her I told her "bc it gives me a chance to relive my childhood that was taken from me and it makes me feel good and gives me some kind of closure after losing my kid." I mentally and physically can not have a kid rn. She helps me personally with what I lost and my anxiety. Id love to collect more and start reborning as well.
I agree with Paula it really is no one's business but your own and you do not have to explain to anyone what and why you are out with your friends and your reborns!! That's mean and crazy to react the way that woman did!! Were you being disruptive to anyone, no, were harming anyone, no! It's not anyone's business and you should not have to explain that this is something you just love doing. Period!!

I’m a goth boy and i have a reborn and bjd and I put them in a stroller (I got it at a goodwill in missasaga) people comment about me and my sons and since I’m agnostic I get super religious people yell at me and stuff so it’s nothing new

I have 2 reborns I take them everywhere I go I get nice comments but sometimes I get rude which makes me sad but I just think people should be nice about tho

Well said! For the most part my Mom & I get positive reactions when we take Bella out. But lately when we take her to Walmart or the mall we get more strange looks & mixed reviews.
Whenever people ask me why I'm in this hobby, I tell them Bella's a therapy doll. Which she is. She helps me w/my PTSD. And if I need to explain more, then I tell them bcause of my medical problems it would be dangerous to have a baby & also for the baby too. But most of the time I tell them I can't have kids.
For me, I started for the fact of it helping me w/my PTSD episodes. But since then, now it's for so many other reasons.
Recently a few weeks ago, when we were at the mall for a consignment sale, I ended up having an emotional PTSD episode. I got more strange looks w/Bella & mixed reviews. So I decided to take a break from outings for awhile.
I still take her out downtown, but that's bcause when I walk sometimes I need something to hold on to, like her stroller. I don't have a walking cane, which I should have. Flare-ups w/my knees & sciatic make it difficult to get around from time to time.
But at least around town I can use the travel system. When we go to the mall or other places we use the local transit bus system which only allows umbrella strollers. Which then that causes me to have issues w/my back.
Sorry to hear all that. And that’s just it. Each of us has our own reasons for being the hobby and we should all give our real reason but this lady didn’t believe my answer lol. I told her my reason and it wasn’t a good enough reason to her.

I am always skittish and any weird remarks towards the doll’s make me uncomfortable. That elderly man - or should I say old fart - should have kept his wisdom to himself. What gives some people the right to be rude on public is beyond me. The woman - I have no words. As one woman to another she should not be so judgmental. Omg what is wrong with people nowadays!!! What do you get out of the doll?! Lol! What exactly she expected you to say? 🤦🏻♀️ I cannot even here! What about fun and socializing with other collectors, dumbo?! Seriously! I am very patient person but heck she was lucky I wasn’t there. I’m so sorry Krystle. This is just utterly ridiculous how those two behaved! Imagine if you responded ‘This is not even the closest to being a mother. I get that feeling with my kitty boy!’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. LOL! The witch needs a therapy! Not you! Yelling in public! Jeeez! Honestly I find it frustrating everyone assumes we all lost a baby or desperately crave having one at the moment. Like women cannot have fun at all without being analyzed to the core. Saddening!

The only problem is if someone with a real child would check to see if a high chair was available, see them all taken and be inconvenienced and unable to stop for lunch there. I remember being put out by differing similar situations when out with my own children when the mall was crowded.
There were plenty of other high chairs available and had we seen someone needing one we would have given it to them

This was a great outing video, but I'm sorry you had negative reactions. I love my babies and want to take them out more but I just don't want to deal with the negative people. It’s so sad that you had to experience that and its because of my fear of that I dont take my babies/dolls out in public, I have four sons so I can tell all those doubters out there its not to ‘replace’ not having children. I am like you Krystle, I have loved dolls all my life, thats mostly what I played with as a child and now I collect them as a hobby, some people collect art, stamps, coins, trains etc, we collect dolls and there is nothing wrong or bizarre about it. You carry on collecting and enjoying yourself as I do and lets just totally ignore the ‘haters’ :-) xx
It baffles me that people think doll people would rather have a real baby. In my case they are VERY unrelatable things. It’s like asking someone playing call of duty why they don’t just join the army or GTA should just steal a car. People ask me when they see my dolls if I ever wanted kids. I really don’t relate them at all. Tbh I’m not really fond of small kids. I just like dolls and other toys. A lady at Rose was studying Reborn’s as part of her PhD and she had a survey that was trying to relate the two. Asking about dolls then about your kids status, totally assuming there was a relationship

Ok.... these dolls aren't my personal cup of tea but omg that woman was so condescending and rude! I can't believe she would relentlessly pry and practicality interrogate you. What a horrendous experience. It actually makes me mad that someone would press a total stranger for personal details. So rude and tactless!!!! I wonder how she would have felt if you had said you had lost a child.... I don't know it just bugs me that she suggested that the reborn baby was fulfilling a void & thought it ok to pry??? If she thinks the dolls are a source of comfort, why ask questions & potentially cause someone pain? Rudeness verging on cruelness! You handled it really well... i don't know if I would have been so graceful
Thank you and I totally agree. Same with the man treating my friend similar and in her case she does have the dolls to help because she can’t have kids due to her disability so him asking the same questions was very painful for her. As you said, no tact at all.
Hi people should just mine their own business. I love dolls all my life I wish as a senior they was affordable to me. So I watch others on the videos. Ignorance is blessed and you don't have to let people put you on the defensive. I see a lot of grownups with the dolls it is fun when your children are all grown up. There are other people like nursing homes these dolls help be blessed and safe.
