Thanks for doing this video! I am the same in a lot of them. Where we live, field trips and nature schooling is not that easy and I can help but sometime feel guilty about us not doing it. It's nice to hear about other families that are similar to us haha.

I homeschool in Missouri and do NOT have a heavily structured schedule during the mid day with my child. I work for a corporation need a lot of flexibility. To combat this on meeting heavy days, I schedule 30 minute blocks between meetings. The boy has a copy of my schedule and we review what is going on during the day. We've been doing this since pandemic when we started, and he doesn't know this isn't how most people learn. From this he is learning flexibility (which he didn't used to have) and time management. As you do, we have a lot of open and go curriculum, no particular version of homeschooling, but we do year round (but the boy doesn't realize we're homeschooling). I was completely overwhelmed when I first began, now we're in a groove that works for us. Our home is so busy and schedules differ a LOT, but mostly, we have our bible time, prayer and chores first, then have the flexible scheduling blocks. They vary from day to day, but he has learned how to do what he needs to do, bookmark what he needs help with, research youtube for answers to some concepts and we talk about it later. We determine what time items are completed based off of my meeting schedule for the day. We do reading heavy/comprehension/difficult items on Mondays and Friday, with some TH-cam videos, hands on activities to reinforce goals during the week.

I'm a Florida homeschool mama too just moved here last October coming up on our first year here. We have been homeschooling since mid end of 2020. Finally getting on a good groove :-)

Great video! My comment isn’t related to this video in particular but I was curious how your kids transitioned from private school to homeschool? Did your kids ever miss private school in the beginning or were they happy to be home with you?
