    Amazing how people come together and help. Been travelling 6 months now and have seen 3 rangers with roughly the same problem.

    Great videos. Have just found them, we have been on the road now same time. How’s the ranger going now and did they fit the new engine in broome?

      TARE 2400kg
      GTM 2720kg
      BALL 180kg
      ATM 2900kg
      The car engine was off the crate remanufactured from North Vic Engines in Vic. Car Was just out of warranty and with mods done to it, voided any hope of us getting it..

    Did you run it in b4 you towed?

    • @WhenInRoam.
      @WhenInRoam.  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. We did 300km first day with incremental speed 80 k/ph for 10mins then 90/100/110 etc.. drove around town with start and stop sort of thing. As well as driving it on manual shift to just tick over the gears.. got it serviced for its 1000km warranty. All up about 1500km done before I started towing and we did same thing - drove incrementally with speed 70 for 10min 80/90 etc. Never went over 100k/ph hope that make sense

      @@WhenInRoam. Run it in takes a few mins. Once the rings have set against the bores then its done. Running it in is more for the fresh transmission and diff.

    What ended up causing the engine failure?

    • @WhenInRoam.
      @WhenInRoam.  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Piston blow-by caused the Pistons & Cylinders on 4&5 to crack.. resulting an engine failure. As put down to us by the mechanic..

      @@WhenInRoam. thanks for the fast reply, looked pretty new how many klms were on it ? Has the new engine had any issues. We are looking to do a lap and looking at used rangers

    • @WhenInRoam.
      @WhenInRoam.  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1madgerman wow, that’s exciting! At that time, my ranger had done about 120,000kms when the engine died. the car was second hand, I bought it when it was right on 100,000kms. Only had it 7 months & 5 day out of warranty but as our DPF is deleted voided all of that..
      20k later.. They are great & tows fantastic We were Just unlucky.. we met people who had traveled with stock standard rangers and all good. I had some mods on mine which did not help the cause..
      The new engine so far so good.. I make sure all the servicing is religiously on time now hahaha just to minimise any issues that could possibly happen.. again we were just unlucky & could’ve happen to any cars really,new or secondhand - Arjay

    Your van looks overweight for your car that’s why you had engine trouble

    • @WhenInRoam.
      @WhenInRoam.  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably right mate.. we’ve accumulated so much crap during lockdown in WA and never really check the weight, whereas at the start of our trip we were couple hundred kg under..anyways probably should mention the car shat itself when we were going downhill.
