Mine arrived today! I have a bow electric also and had no second thoughts adding one of these anchors. I have experienced issues with drag with other style anchors and I hope this will hold better. The confidence of being able to drop it anywhere without concern for getting stuck is a huge bonus especially when boating alone or with small children. Product looks fantastic, well manufactured, packaged and I cant wait to give it a trial.
Hi, can you get in touch, and send one to Mr SV Panope to do a anchor test and I'll be convinced, he has his own independent testing channel on TH-cam, but nevertheless it looks great. Interesting design, hopefully you do well from it, I wouldn't hesitate buying one all-bar a couple of questions. Q. What stops the sacrificial pin from shearing during normal use, eg. anchored overnight when asleep and the weather turns nasty, not sure if I'd sleep very well knowing that only a small pin which is designed to shear is taking majority of the load... Or the sacrificial pin has degraded or been compromised say over a few years of use, unbeknown to the average boater who doesn't check his equipment as often as the next guy. Gather the pin is 316 stainless, it does work harden over time. Cheers.
Hi @jb243wp , you bring up some very relevant questions that many people ask. I have seen Steve from SV Panope. He is very thorough and independent. Happy to send one to him for his assessment and happy to answer your questions. We are all about safety on the water. We make it very clear on our website, The Boomer All Terrain anchor is not a storm anchor. It was never designed to be a Super High Hold anchor. There are plenty of good quality anchors that do that job. It was purpose built to use as your primary anchor if you are a fisher man or woman out for a safe days fishing. It is also extremely capable as a mooring anchor for those days you want to pull up and have a picnic in a sandy bay. Overnighting is a personal choice, and understanding the thresh-hold of the pin holding the Boomer and your boat is the key. Things like having the correct length of chain become important, regardless of which anchor you use. There are many 5.5 ton boats and charter companies using our anchor, they also have more chain. After using the anchor for some time, many customers express how their confidence in its capabilities has risen so high that they use their anchor for everything, including overnighting. The pin can become fatigued over time, but the only time I find it necessary to inspect it is if I am hanging in to rocks in a precarious spot or before overnighting. Premature release is very rare if you choose the correct sized pin. We overnight regularly and have never changed our anchor in 6 years. 2 of those nights were bad storms, but the anchor never moved. We put in the largest pin and felt safe. However, it is a personal assessment of the conditions, and if there is doubt, put down your secondary overnight plough anchor. The supplied pins are zinc coated to break down to nothing. They can be easily replaced at a hardware store. Some folks use stainless steel pins, which have a slightly higher shear factor, but don't break down readily. Hope this answers your questions. Cheers
@@boomeranchors5774 Thank you for your reply, much appreciated. I'm guessing from what you are saying that the product comes supplied out of the box with a carbon steel zink plated pin or bolt, gathering that would only be a 4.6gr tensile strength as this will allow the shearing off if required. Potentially, both from a consumer and you as the supply, another good option that may be piece of mind is to supply it out of the box with a 2 pin option, both in zink plated, but a higher tensile strength 8.8gr pin... 8.8gr has generally a higher shearing factor than stainless in most cases and do come in zink plated. Potentially testing would be required to determine this due to straining factors, hole size compared to actual pin size etc, yes as you mentioned chain length, and weight does playa part.. Maybe film some physical testing in different scenarios, mud, sand rocky bottom.. I had a Sarca Ex-cel #5 on my last boat, I could not fault it in any way, in any condition, but I did have half as much chain again as recommended for my vessel.. Nothing worse than constant worry while you boat in anchored up, specially if it's unmanned or your camping overnight. But I think you are on to something, the quality looks great. Best of luck with it 👍

Just picked mine up today!
Interesting concept.
Yes please let steve test it for us.
