    You can also set the date backwards on the gmts. So if it's shorter to do that, spin away in time!

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it's counterintuitive to spin it back isn't it, but I have done that a few times. Sod's law is that whenever I need to set the date I'm nearly 2 weeks out either way!

    As a left handed person who wears his watch properly on his right hand, I’m not sure if I’d like the crown digging into the opposite side that I’ve been used to for so long.

    Having just received a Batman, I can affirm that your advice is 100% spot on - they worked for me. I started to bug them about it after over a year of being on the list, and then a week later I got the call. They do want you to show interest and then you become top of their mind.

      @@g43654correct. You can’t quickset the date on a GMT. To change the date you need to pull the crown fully out and cycle the time through 24hrs. It’s such a pain.

    904 is NOT harder than 316. Hardness (Rockwell) for 316L is 95 and 904L is between 70-90 so 316 is the harder one. However, it is more corrosion resistant.

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're talking about impact resistance but 904L has more Nickel than 316L giving more wear resistance, and more molybdenum which improves corrosion resistance. I used to sell stainless steel and measuring hardness by Rockwell does not tell the full story.

    • @koolpep
      @koolpep ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheRandomWatchDude I felt in my experience that my Rolex watches scratched way easier than the ones in 316 steel. Anyhow. By any measure it is not harder nor more scratch resistant. But much better for chemical resistance and salt water - hence used in divers etc. not saying it’s a bad steel. Also has a different luster that is harder to achieve with 316. First to use 904 steel by the way was Omega.

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @koolpep I've not noticed any real difference in scratches more or less than 316 on my watches. I think you'll notice scratches more on your Rolex because it's your Rolex! For a GMT Master 2, here in NZ you would need to have bought a Tudor or two. Or an expensive JLC-type watch that's been sat in the case for a year. Jewellery has high margins, so maybe a ring or earrings for your lady. I bought a Tudor Pelagos, and 2 weeks later got the call for a GMT, but some people have vastly different experiences. Special occasions are always helpful too, like a milestone birthday, or anniversary.
