Great job, Surtr. Ep. 2 and you already have automated basics. The better pickaxe from upgraded workbench lets you mine the higher tier bedrock. You can go down further. I very much like and appreciate your explorative attitude towards games, that you investigate every corner, every possibility and recipe and squeeze all the game has to offer in the final form/build. That way we (viewers) have a comprehensive picture of the game and can make an informed decision if we like it or not. There's also something cool in watching you going through it. Cheers
Loving your play through a lot. There is on tip one which I will be using is have a ceiling above your machines and use that floor for your steam set up. Then run you pipes to above your machines that require steam and fit your pipes to them from above. It’s more for keeping work areas clear and also makes working out your steam set up easier
@@surtrplays sadly I refunded it because it crashed and was terribly optimized on my potato. But my son's handing down his less-old computer shortly and I will pick it up then. Seriously. Potato. 11yo. I can't wait until he gets his new rig, lol.
Same here. I had downloaded the demo but hadn't time yet to play it... after seeing these videos I bought the full version. I have no doubt that it will be worth it.
The shovel has 2 modes, level upto the grid, level down to the grid. It switches with X, same as the build hammer. It can be a bit finiky to use, and tbh once you start building with stone foundation it's not really needed. The wood foundations you can see under, but the stone is solid and much MUCH thicker, so most of the time you can just leave the cave floor rough, you won't be able to see once the stone froundations are in.
The Herb Bush tooltip is misleading. It is used for the Herbed Meat, which is the "Healing Item" in the tooltip. It is not used in potions or anything else I have found. In my view the Herbed boar is the best food, as the next one only gives 10 more health and requires the Herbed meat, mushrooms, and another cooking step. Hitting X will switch the mode of the shovel to remove. This mode is fantastic for leveling ground, something I have spent a LOT of time doing for my current build, haha! It also will make nice tunnels, and does not delete ores. One drill produces enough material to run two sets of crushers/ smelters perfectly. If you figure out how to delete empty deposits, please let us know. I haven't figured it out yet, and it would be really handy...
Couple tips: The Banker has a place where you can type in say 500 and click the up arrow and that'll put 500 coin in your inventory. There are large wood and stone nodes that can be mined. Automation 4 has a way to feed coal to steam and a crafter (have it unlocked myself but can't build yet). The guys you are feeding coin to make stuff, yeah that can all be automated and you won't need to spend coin soon, don't go to crazy with them. I'm going to setup totally automated Ale crafting and selling today to get coin rolling in while I look for Gold and silver.
Hmm! A good deal of Hydroneer style with elements of Enshrouded and a little Valheim - Nice concept. Seems you've cottoned-on to this game pretty well - enjoying watching the playthrough.
Thanks for listening man. Yeah i made it to auto level 4. Trick make 6 blacksmiths make a poop load of the copper erm tools? i can't remember. But they sell for 80 a piece.. Also You can just buy 1 of each potion from the kings market.
i set up ale farming if you make 2 farms use a belt splitter 2 into 1 it makes them pretty fast for every 100 barrels of beer it sells for $4000. but you need to find an ancient root for wood.
I had thought the tethers might be to help climb out of a hole, but if they are, I've no idea how to use them. I can't imagine having to dig these big ugly ramps up each time.
really love this game ...but i stop playing four time now i come back to my base and there is goblin or orc inside destroying everything and they dont even let me time to repair they keep comming back falling from the sky lol am gonna wait they work on it a little more before i put more hours in it

Good tip, this works well and how I've got mine setup.
I have been thinking bout that, Thanks.
The floor sections are great for this. A one wide catwalk above each production line works well for me.
Lol, Surtr -- I'd had this wishlisted but you pushed me over the edge.
Cool, you won't regret it.

The dwarven vaults for all your money needs
Pretty cool.

Thank you for the tips. I did figure out how to remove the empty nodes. Just look at it and press 'e'.
@@surtrplays Thank you! You have no idea how much of a headache you just cured for me...
You are most welcome.

Awesome, I will give those a try!
Oh, almost forgot, think of the shovel like the one in Hydroneer. Use X to switch between add and remove.
I will give that a try. Thanks.

love the videos Surtr per chance you could disable motion blur for the play-through?
I have reduced the motion blur to 1. It was a bit much at default.
Unlock the banker to put your gold in. And upgrade it too
Done, thanks.
when you started the game you clicked on compact size caves.
Ahh, that is what happened. Well I suppose I need bigger explosives then.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check out the market.
@@surtrplays Also to be noted you can sell them back for the same price you bought them.
Cool. Not sure why I would want them back.
In the demo fps could not be set is it in the settings now?
Not that I can see.
@@surtrplays Ok thanks in that case I will wait till they add it before buying the game

I have one one of those roots. Thanks.

They just allow you to keep track of where you came from. I'm don't know if these tethers do anything else.
see any worms yet in the caves?
Fortunately not.
you get big stone and wood
Discovering that now, thanks.
