At :56 seconds in the video it is said that “you can put it in the right firing order put run the something backwards and you’ll get pops and flames out of the intake” I currently have everything ran on my sbc and I am getting pops and flames out of the carb. I am assuming some where along the road I did something backwards. Can you please elaborate on how to fix that issue
Typically, that means you are 180 degrees out with your distributor placement. When you are rolling to top dead center, the timing marks on the balancer and the timing tab line up on the compression stroke and the exhaust stroke. You may have been at the top of the exhaust stroke when you set your distributor position . Basically, pull the distributor, rotate the rotor button 180 degrees, and reinstall. That will get you close . The method where you remove the #1 plug and bump the engine over until it blows out of the plug hole will be helpful in finding the compression stroke. I'm definite going to be exercising this tomorrow, however question...If I find TDC, can't I just roll over the rotor in the distributor then to point to the #1 terminal on the cap before I drop it in? I just pulled the distributor tonight because I realized I hadn't considered any of this to date before first start up.
Yup. If you set TDC you can essentially put 1 wherever you want. If you already have #1 set on your cap then just point your rotor button tip to the contact you want in the cap.
@@greasyboykustoms well the way the Duraspark cap clamps in to the base of the distributor it's kind of set in that regard...and where the VAT diaphragm sits too, but thanks for confirming what I thought would work. I'm so scared with all of this

Try doing the with a RV 460 where the motor is closed in and your hand can brarly get the plug. A starter switch is good but not enough to get center
