Grew up on Long Island, in West Sayville. Then moved to Holbrook. Great places, but i moved out of NY to the Midwest. My rent in NY was 2440.00, if i wanted to stay i would've been paying 2880.00. i moved to Midwest and my rent for dame exact layout 2BR/2BA, 1350 sq ft, great schools, top floor apartment, hardwood floors, brand new appliances. ...880.00 per month.
New York priced itself out of business. I was sad to leave but I am very happy now.

Absolutely, I left New York. Never been happier. My expenses dropped drastically, especially rent...almost 1800 cheaper immediately.... groceries and gas much cheaper....and Police actually Police. No crime and everyone is Armed. It's paradise.

@@AMC-eq3jr This appears to be a response to a different comment, with that said. They usually turn most of that into Jay Walking. Also the Must Appear was someone should appear. I once sent somebody else, and that was fine. The money doesn't matter anymore, because reforms(like bail reform) as long as you answered the court, they can not suspend your license for not paying.
@@AMC-eq3jr If convicted of Driving without insurance in the state of New York, it is a mandatory 1 year suspension, and a $2,000 fine, at least in NYC where the DMV handles violations directly so not plead bargains.

Grew up and lived in South Bellmore, South Merrick and North Bellmore some 30 years ago before moving out West. The traffic back then was getting out of hand. The housing prices and rent were out of control. Long Island is beautiful to visit but definitely not to live there.

As of 1985, the US Supreme Court interpreting a maritime law case, legally designated Long Island New York as actually "Long Peninsula" New York. According to the Court, since the peninsula formally known as Long Island, is not actually an island because only a river (the East River) separates Long Peninsula from the mainland. According to the Court, a Sea or Ocean is required to separate and island from a mainland. Interesting!
I always recommend living in Garden City, Manhasset, and Old Westbury.

I live in Long Island. Do not move here the taxes are wayyyyy to high. The law enforcement is corrupt. The houses are small and close together. The drugs and crime are rampant.
It depends on the area that you live in. Wealthier areas like Manhasset and Old Westbury have large houses with expansive lawns.

Grew up on the Island and still live there. Don't buy a house here even if you win the lottery or come into an insurmountable amount of money.
