  • The Coronus Grav-Carrier is a highly sophisticated dedicated transport used exclusively by the Adeptus Custodes. After experiencing a lack of willpower following the release of Book Seven details last week I decided to take the plunge and start an allied detachment of the Talons of the Emperor.

      +The Scrumpy Kiwi Thanks mate, that's very kind of you to say so :)
      This one is definitely sweet, I also feel it better value than the other two vehicles we have already seen. Although I loved the Coronus from the moment I saw it I wasn't going to dip into The Talons. Then I saw the Sagitarrum Guard and the Sisters' Kharon and I failed my willpower test. Oh well, there are worse vices in life ;)

      i know right, custodes plus all the extra toys look sooo nice its almost impossible to just say no.
      i will inevitably end up getting them :)

    Man that thing is much larger than I thought it would be (Thatswhatshesaid). Really like the little panels & hatches, I can see really going to town on those. Also the interior is a real surprise. Lots of cool stuff in there. I'm kinda confused how they put a Custode pilot in there without pureeing him first though. That said, it is really going to be difficult to avoid picking up an allied detachment or small force of Custodes, the models are just so detailed & imposing. Trying to stay true to the Blood Angels I'm working on but man it is difficult I tell you.

      +Brooks Sligh Heheh, that puts me in mind of a comment Mrs. Leakycheese made when I was building my Cerberus ;)
      My idea on the pilot is they are wearing lighter armour than usual.... or alternatively there is a shrink field in the cockpit.
      Apologies for subjecting you to temptation, I'm sure as a resolute son of Sanguinius like yourself will be able to resist such shallow pleasures of the resin.
      Thanks for watching :D

      Whether it's marines or custodes it seems to be a waste using superhuman killers specifically engineered to rip you in half as drivers, or pilots. In this case I'd rather pretend it's a dedicated normal human driving the vehicle and attribute the BS5 to technology.
      Can't wait to see this model put together!

      @leakycheese  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gabriel Magister Good point, for example in the Legion list many vehicles can be bought with serfs at BS3 as marines don't always serve as crew. However, all the top-tier tech vehicles don't get the option (e.g. Cerberus and Glaive) and vehicles that are configured to forward or assault duty have the same limitation of Astartes only crew.
      With the Custodes I'm not so sure but all their vehicles so far have been designed to be controlled by a single pilot supported by a machine spirit. That seems to suit the individualistic nature of the Custodians, if all their armour had a default choice of tank hunter or preferred enemy (infantry) the skill level would seem consistent for a companion pilot.
      Keep an eye out for a build video, I've just come down with a cold so it will be delayed a bit, but it is the next thing on the to do list. Thanks for watching :)

    It's a really impressive kit - forge world have done an excellent job on this one. Sadly due to my legion being traitor I can't take custodes otherwise it'd make for a nice little addition.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Egalogalis Yes, it's a sweet model and unlucky, the Custodes have zero loyalty flexibility. By the way, which Legion you play?
      Thanks for watching :)

    Im definitely gonna build a custodes army at one point as allies for my Imperial Fist ^^

      +Cadars I like that, the Emperor's companions and the sons of Dorn, very solid combo. Just think, you could stick Sigismund next to a Custodes Shield Captain and watch your opponents weep as you dissect them in melee!
      Thanks for watching :)

    Nice vid mate. What's your take on China re-casts for 1/5 of the price? Also will you be buying some Custodians to go with it?

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sup3rSaiy3n Thanks mate, I saw your review as well, looks like you got a nice example to :)
      I will be getting some Sagittarum Guard to go with it when they get released and some Sisters as well for the troop options and their crazy transporter the Kharon.
      In terms of recasters (China, Russia, wherever) I've not got any experience of their work so can't objectively comment on quality. From what I've read people have had experiences ranging from great to terrible. From a moral perspective I'm not going to showcase any examples of currently available GW/FW products on the channel because of the IP theft that is going on (although some other countries have very different attitudes to copyright and trademark than us so that is a relative opinion on the world stage!) Whatever people moan about GW they are an amazing creative company and buying copied products damages the commercial investment they have made and erodes their profit.
      There are also practical considerations as well, when I buy from FW I have entered in a contract with a company that has responsibilities to fulfill and if anything ever goes wrong I have legal recourse against them under UK consumer law. If I buy from a recaster what responsibility do they have to ensure the resin they use is of a good quality and safe for the intended application? They have none off course and I'm on my own legally and practically if something goes wrong.
      However, there are some fair game areas from my point of view. There are many GW models that completely out of production but lots of people still want to still buy them. I have an example of one such a model on order from a top-end recaster and will do a review on that when I get it.
      A really awkward one is event or store only models. In the case of these GW/FW has deliberately constricted volume and accessibility. There are loads of gamers and collectors who would love to pay FW the asking price but they simply can't because of practical considerations like living overseas or nowhere near a GW store so you can't judge a guy or gal in such a situation who bys a recast.
      What do you think?

    • @Sup3rSaiy3n
      @Sup3rSaiy3n 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah nice one. Those Sagittarum sure are nice.
      Fascinating views on the topic, a pleasure to read, thank you for taking the time. I agree with you, especially about models that aren't in production any more. Lucius Warhound and Thunderhawk transporter come to mind. I agree with your take on the location of collectors too. Like you I feel very strongly about IP as FW/GW do create some incredible models. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I would very much like the opportunity at least to buy event models outside of events - even if they are released a few months after, or at WW.

    • @3v3rhard

      Completely agree with leakycheese on this one. In our gamer community some have bought chinacast models, they can be pretty good but in most cases sub par compared to FW (NEWER models). However it's hard to judge people from buying these models. Some just don't have the financial position to buy from FW , some are looking to get exclusive models that are not on sale, some just buy a few parts that are unreasonably priced by FW. So many situations... and all of them are understandable. In the end it comes down to moral choices and supporting the hobby. I've decided not to buy any chinacast as I dislike the theft of IP and making money on someone else effort. However on a larger scale I don't think chinacast models hurt the hobby, it makes the community bigger and FW also benefits from a larger playing community. At this point its a very grey area so Iam not judging any one buying these models as there are plenty of reasons to do so, also its not my job to protect GW's IP :).

    Lovely video again. My willpower has failed as well, gonna use them as allied detachment for SA. Probably cool for the defence of terra battles. It a bit of an unrelated question but I love the new Custodes Commander released on the weekender, do you know if its available anywhere else?

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephan van den Brink I see a fair few of us are falling foul to the charms of the golden floaters. Allies to SA sounds great as the Custodes bring lots new capabilities without any overlap.
      The Custodes Commander is event only so will be a hard one to acquire, even Warhammer isn't selling them so the next opportunity will probably be Warhammer Fest.
      Thanks for watching :)

    • @3v3rhard
      @3v3rhard 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that was exactly what I was looking for. I've played the SA now for last months although fun but they are quite one dimensional, only one tactic really works and it literately blasts away legions. I was tempering with the idea to add some legion allies like imperial fist or ultra marines but I couldn't make the leap yet. Now with the Custodes they are just different enough from the legions and game-wise are the complete opposite of the SA. PS. I just noticed a message on FB that the Tribune special just went on sale at warhammer world, now I only need to find someone that can pick it up someday.

    Hi,
    Why didn't you get some Adeptus Custodes/ Sisters of Silence models too? I think you have to take some Custodes or Sisters infantry as well in order to use any other custodes units in an allied army.
    I think that the Custodes Sagittarum Guard are over-costed and too fragile for what they bring to the table (unless you deep strike them). A Calladius grav-tank and Agmatus Jetbikes are more versatile units in my opinion.
    Will you be getting the Legio Custodes Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought please? I'm think of getting two of them.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Henry the 9th Well, at the time of this video I had not got Book Seven so was holding off buying anything else until I could digest the list properly (I know it was up on 1d4chan but that's not quite the same).
      At the moment I plan to buy the Burning of Prospero game to get the ToE models, that will be a nice unboxing review as well.
      I'd agree that at first glance the SG seem expensive but for this force I'm buying more for looks than table top power. I also suspect the first pass of the Custodes list could be a bit on the OP side so I don't want to dominate my opponents and take the fun out the game.
      Present plan is for the SG in this vehicle, 2x Sisters Squads in Kharon's and a HQ which I am still to decide on. I'd say there is a pretty good chance I will do the spear dreadnought ;)
      Thanks for watching!

      I have studying the Custodes units now that I have Book Seven. For HQ I would choose Constantin Valdor, he's very choppy and with him, you can teleport Custodes infantry units for Free and possibly Custodes Dreadnoughts.

    • @leakycheese
      @leakycheese  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Henry the 9th That's a good suggestion, Valdor looks very good and not that expensive at 275 points for a hero of that calibre. Teleporting dreadnoughts, now that sounds fun :)
