That bump at 15+ kHz looks worrisome, but my hearing drops off sharply after 15k, so I hope it won't bother me that much. Then again, I do regularly EQ any IEM I use daily, so I can try lowering upper treble if it starts feeling fatiguing. Otherwise, from your excellent review, it seems like a winner. I was a bit worried since I ordered it blind, only on Crin's word. :D
Dude, you knock every review out of the park. I love the detail you put into your reviews. How is the imaging and soundstage on these? I know IEMs aren't known for soundstage, but the Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite has a really nice soundstage. Any idea on how that compares?
Hello! I binge watched many of your videos! Thanks a lot for what you do! I’m always looking forward to your videos!
Great review - convinced me to pull the trigger. I've had no problem with the Moondrop app on previous DSP purchases. I think this will trigger a lot of copycats, but I'm betting Crin engineered enough quality to stay ahead of that for a good while.
Hey, I got the pair as well and I'm super excited for it! You said that you would replace the cable because of its quality, do you have any recommendations? I'd like to switch them out as well.
I plan to use the Dusk without DSP. Your review is the most solid review up to date, however I am not sure if your thoughts were using DSP or pure analog 🤔
Another great review. I was wondering your opinion about these compared to the Audeze Maxwell (I know headsets and IEMs are different) , happens that I own a pair, but I can't wear them for long due to a neck injury. So these might be a good alternative to use in between but I wanted to hear your thoughts. Ty!

Having said that, I like these more than the Audeze Euclid. I also like them more than some of the Campfire IEMs which have their own special sauce but this is a more enjoyable set for me. Thank you for this review. If you game and also really love music. Lets say you have $360 are you buying the Maxwell or the Dusk? I mainly game on my PS5 so having a mic isn't a huge issue as the controllers have a built in one.
Such an awesome review. Just received mine about a week ago and have been really loving them. Literally the best sound I have heard ever. And it has also been really good in games for me (I play cod, apex, destiny 2 and some mobile games). I have been loving the dsp cable and the convenience it brings. On the other hand the gsx 1000 2nd gen reviews have been popping up on my feed and I’m just wondering if you’d consider that a good purchase to use for these in games for soundstage and such? The 7.1 surround mixing does seem promising but not entirely sure if it’s a good idea to spend 200$ for a 360$ IEM. I would really like to have some advice in this matter. Edit: After some research and asking some friends in this hobby, the following are the ones i'm considering. Moondrop dawn pro/ Fiio KA17/ Ifi Zen Dac 3/ Fiio K11
Honestly the blessing 2s (non dusk) that I have are so good but I might give these a look. The blessings 2 only problem is the lack of bass. The mids are perfect and the highs are great.
Could I buy the "Linsoul THIEAUDIO Hype 4" and also buy the "DSP cable". Then EQ the DSP cable to the "Crinacle Dusk setting" and listen to that on the Hype 4? Technically I would have 2 IEM's for the price of 1.
Sold most of my iems after acquiring my er2se, thought it’s gonna be endgame for me for basic commuting use, but the new dusk is so tempting, worth the upgrade?
If you have an IEM as good as the Variation and love them, stick to what you already love. Otherwise we’re always chasing that next hot thing when the real magic is in the music
I just got the moondrop variations, I'm curious how it compares. The only EQ I've done is a slight boost to the lower mids to make guitars sound fuller. Otherwise the Dusk sounds like exactly how I feel about the Variations, except the boosted upper treble.
Have you reviewed the Hisenior Mega5EST's? Would like to hear your comparison on between these. Going to buy my 1st IEM's and the've both had really good reviews.
while a review unit may be nice, actual production QC may be an issue. i had a few issues with moondrop products personally and would recommend waiting a few months before buying any newly produced item...
What are your thoughts on the moondrop pro dac? I'm really enjoying the crinacle red that you recommended sir and now looking to buy a new dac. I used to use the jcally one but it broke so I'm looking to replace it with something more nicer. Using it mainly for playing on my phone and pc..
My only nitpicks for Dusk are it's still not good enough to separate instruments in really crowded mix (e.g., Kick Back, Zankyosanka) and some lack of microdetails (e.g., sometimes the last "gggg" part of the "twangggggggg" for guitar strings rolls off earlier than I like). But to be fair, you can't get those below the steep kilobucks like Helios/MEST. Otherwise it's the best technicality I've heard (with no obvious compromise) below 1k. The DSP cable also gives the lazy people no excuse to avoid EQ'ing it to perfection.
For FPS I used analog because the small bump in 2k helps with certain games like CoD. For everything else I like the DSP cable more, but it’s not really noticeable on gaming
Great review! Quick question but can you keep the dsp eq saved on the cable? For example if you settled on the dsp default. Can you keep the eq setting without the app (if moondrop stops supporting it in the future or the buggy app is just annoying) or even if you switch to the an iphone from android?
The qudelix 5k is my personal "on the go" dac/amp and the qudelix app is far, far better than the moondrop app. Also, Crin was saying in his announcement video that the dsp is not normal eq? Something about how the only way to change frequency responses is to be subtractive so to create the extra bass profile means that the other frequencies had to be reduced. Unless dsp can just be a cable that you can assign an offline parametric eq profile to, it's not for me. I have the monarch mk3 in my sights and they're what I'm saving up for currently. This is likely going to be the next buy after that. Also, Moondrop cables are always crap.
You can add or remove dB with the Moondrop app. The issue is there’s no preamp adjustment so if you boost 8db anywhere for example, it’s fair to expect distortion. If you do negative 8 dB somewhere with a Q of .707 then boost somewhere in that same octave +5 dB with. Q of 5 for example, it would work much better. He’s just saying this to avoid adding clipping/distortion.
Great review! I wonder if an upgrade, coming from the Blessing 3, is worth it or not.. Hmm, anyone got some good input that helps me with this decision is very welcomed :) I would use the normal 3.5mm adapter like 70% of the time, instead of the DSP cable.
From your measurements on Squiglink I see that Truthear Zero Red has the same peak at 15K. Would you say that they are similar in brightness at the very top? I liked Zero Red a lot, but they were very uncomfortable, so I'm looking for an alternative.
Yes in that regard yes there's good enough mid treble to upper treble sheen for these whilst having a smaller size nozzle even if the IEM size it self is a bit taller when you mount it into your ears
I have to say, I don't get the point of using forged carbon fibre, which on its own has an extremely attractive and unique look, and then CNCing it to make it look like that. I don't hate the look but that, to me, is a weird material to choose considering how they made it look.
Have you happened to test out the 64Audio U12Ts? Curious how these compare to those based on your statement on how this hold up against other $1000+ IEMs
Oh it has the best midrange in any IEM under $1000 and washes some IEMs over that price. I listened to them at CANJAM earlier this year with artistes with varying textures to their vocal presentation like Samara Joy, Yebba, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Adomaa, Aṣa, Stevie Nicks and many others like male vocals from Travis Greene, PJ Morton, The Weeknd and others. It performed superbly Diva had to hot of an upper mids presentation so vocals had a plasticky, unnaturalness to them and the bass was really middling
How do you suggest it for gaming if it doesn't have a microphone. Even a mid quality microphone would be appreciated. We don't need much quality we just need to talk.
I know this is an IEM video, but do you have a review on the Fiio JT1’s? Whats your opinion on them disregarding the price point? What do you think about the sound compared to IEM’s for you?
I just pre-ordered mine!! Question, if I'm going to be using these on my PC paired with an external dac/amp, do I still need to download the phone app to get EQ profiles? Do I use a different program all together on PC?
Great review! Just one comment.: when mentioning the H.O.D.D.D.U.S setup inside the IEMs, you said the two dynamic drivers are pointed outward from each other. That's not correct; they are actually facing one another, doubling the amount of air that gets "squeezed" between them, increasing bass response.
how can i "flash my custom eq to the cable"? 8:46 . for example, if i want to lower the 14k freq even more, how can i do it so that every time i connect my iems to a different device, my custom eq stays the same. because, on windows, i have the "peters eq apo" and i can easily lower my upper treble. however, i dont have a software like thet on my phone... so how to lower upper treble even more? please any help is appreciated. thank you great review. got my like 👍
If you don't want to use the DAC cable it comes with for some reason, it does not need much power at all to get loud. Qudelex 5K is my go-to for IEMs. It works as both a USB DAC and a BT DAC/amp for on the go. Otherwise even a cheap Apple dongle will sound great on it. If you need a volume knob, I really like the FiiO K11 DAC. It has a digital gain knob which is great for channel balance at low volumes.
Could I ask about how soundstage and imaging are with these IEMs (with the DSP cable). I wanted to get these and I play competitive titles a lot so I wish you could elaborate a bit more in detail please?

For FPS I used analog because the small bump in 2k helps with certain games like CoD. For everything else I like the DSP cable more, but it’s not really noticeable on gaming
Sigh. Just out of my budget this one sadly. But great review. Thanks for always keeping the gaming part.
9:45 the sound of grandma slipping down the stairs 😂
Great review! Quick question but can you keep the dsp eq saved on the cable? For example if you settled on the dsp default. Can you keep the eq setting without the app (if moondrop stops supporting it in the future or the buggy app is just annoying) or even if you switch to the an iphone from android?
Thanks! It’s saved/persistent even when switching or disconnecting
How does this stack up to the Hype 4? I have that one on order already but it is 60 days out I am told.
@@GadgetryTech oh ok, that makes much more sense
Thanks man ! How does it compare to Tansio Mirai X ?
Final VR3000 please look into these IEMs for gaming would love a review
Great review!
I wonder if an upgrade, coming from the Blessing 3, is worth it or not..
Hmm, anyone got some good input that helps me with this decision is very welcomed :)
I would use the normal 3.5mm adapter like 70% of the time, instead of the DSP cable.
Great review, thank you
I am pondering between this and Nova. Is 200 bucks more worth it? I am looking for a good all round iem for gaming and music
Great review !
Dusk 2 vs Hype 4?
I add the cincotres in that request.
Have you heard the og blessing 2 dusk? Assuming I would use the dsp cable would you called this a worthy upgrade? Thank you!
Have you tried it with " female vocal soul r&b " are the vocals relatively forward? Or thin? Natural? Any comparison with " "diva" for female vocals?
Oh it has the best midrange in any IEM under $1000 and washes some IEMs over that price.
I listened to them at CANJAM earlier this year with artistes with varying textures to their vocal presentation like Samara Joy, Yebba, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Adomaa, Aṣa, Stevie Nicks and many others like male vocals from Travis Greene, PJ Morton, The Weeknd and others.
It performed superbly
Diva had to hot of an upper mids presentation so vocals had a plasticky, unnaturalness to them and the bass was really middling
How do you suggest it for gaming if it doesn't have a microphone. Even a mid quality microphone would be appreciated. We don't need much quality we just need to talk.
How would this compare to variations? Im looking for something around $500
Looks cool!
I know this is an IEM video, but do you have a review on the Fiio JT1’s? Whats your opinion on them disregarding the price point? What do you think about the sound compared to IEM’s for you?
what's that headphone at 13.50?
Moondrop Para. Review dropping soon!
That's not correct; they are actually facing one another, doubling the amount of air that gets "squeezed" between them, increasing bass response.
which r better fore purely gaming .....these or the MTpro
how can i "flash my custom eq to the cable"? 8:46 . for example, if i want to lower the 14k freq even more, how can i do it so that every time i connect my iems to a different device, my custom eq stays the same. because, on windows, i have the "peters eq apo" and i can easily lower my upper treble. however, i dont have a software like thet on my phone... so how to lower upper treble even more? please any help is appreciated. thank you great review. got my like 👍
Do you have any suggestions for a dac/amp to pair with it?
Should I get this if I have the Xenns Top already?
Dusk, blessings 3 or variations?
