I've been a diver for over thirty years and I have seen other divers lose fingers from feeding "cuda" because they held onto the bait instead of giving it a push away from them. The same thing can happen when feeding moray's if your not careful. As a marine biologist we recommend not feeding predators because they lose their fear and hang around so accidents like this occur far to often. They do have long memories and I have seen the same "cuda" come back to the boat a year later when the same people return even without the additional encouragement of a free meal. Glad to see he kept his fingers. Remember in the future it is not what you see that is usually a problem as far as predator species go. It's the unseen one hanging out for the quick snack that causes the problem. You might get a bucket to dip the water you need to clean fish and hands if your not near your sink or hose. Stay safe, fair winds, and calm seas.
Brady, I would have passed out. You handled that incredibly well...everyone did. I am also now terrified to wash my hands off the back of the boat. Great video guys! -nikki
Brady, Best wishes for a speedy recovery!! I'm glad you weren't hurt more seriously. This just proves you and the crew of Delos goes above and beyond to give us the most exciting videos possible. Well done. Speedy recovery mate! Bill S.
Should be an arm sleeve tattoo of the barracuda ......,,, then where the scarves at would be the teeth .. glad your okay bro ya ❤️🙏🏽❤️!!!!! If it makes you feel any better once a triggerfish bit my toe 🤣 I was freak out 🤙🏽🇬🇺🇲🇵🤙🏽 !!!!!
I watch practically all of the sailing related channels on TH-cam and I have to say, "Delos is hands down the Best".......and they have some really good competition:)
I have been watching your channel from the beginning, and this was the best episode ever. I ran my hand through a table saw once, and like Brady, got immediate excellent medical care, and retained full use of the hand and all fingers. Have a great Indian Ocean crossing.
Brady Brady Brady..lol Really enjoy your videos. My wife and I started cruising in 1990 at age 30 till 2003. Unfortunately an accident (non boating) has left my wife disabled and now we live back on land. Enjoy every bit of it while you can because you never know what is going to happen. Cheers
The tenderness of which your brother helped you… Brady, you are such a lucky guy! My friends and I would say this is going to be a great story to tell, happy you have such a great Delos family
I got here by way of Sailing La VagaBonde. Good, calm captain of the ship, too. He knows his stuff, stays calm and keeps plenty of alcohol on board! I'm glad Brady was okay from that bite. Great channel. Subscribed
I was impressed with not only Brady but the entire crew here. This could have been bad, but was handled calmly, professionally and with a good head. The decision to take him to the clinic was sound, and I am again impressed with the medical care you received, and for free! Wow. Would not happen here in the States. I am also impressed that you did not go hunting Barry. Many would. Barry was just being a Barracuda and while he could have taken the entire hand just left with a taste. I'm guessing he was as surprised as you were.
The pain associated with hand injuries is no joke. good job dealing with all that discomfort while on the boat getting it washed, dressed and bandaged. Tough!
Brings back memories of being a small-town ER doctor for several years. Never had a patient with a Barracuda bite though--we don't get many of those in Wisconsin.
Reminds me of the Fosters ad "How to speak Australian" You know the one where the boulder falls on the Aussie? All kidding aside, Brady, you're a real trooper and it's clear to me that your crew loves you and know how to pull together when it matters. You are indeed blessed to have such people of quality in your life, and yeah, and you're one of them. I trust you have healed well since there has been no mention otherwise so I am sure I'm not the only one relieved that you are alright. Thank you all for sharing your epic adventures with us. Cheers!

I feel your pain Brady........ Just had surgery on my right shoulder and had no use of the right hand for a while... the worst part was trying to clean my backside with my left hand after doing that task with the right hand for the last 55 years!! Couldn't even hardly reach back there with the left.... very unnatural. Hope no lasting effects from your buddy Barry. Fair Winds and Following Seas my friends!
Hey bud feel better and watch out for infection... about three weeks you'll be back. Let the girls help with what you do with your right hand.... Love u'z guys
I luv your videos and the inspiration you spawn for many viewers! No need for trigger warnings, a life on the sea is dangerous. And on further thought any life well lived can be dangerous on the sea or otherwise. Thanks you, many of us owe you for sharing - the music, the self reliance lessons, the beauty of our planet, and inspiring the sense of adventure. Best wishes for fair winds and following seas!
In a few years it will be like that scene from JAWS. Quint comparing scars with Hooper. Y'all are just getting started with them scars. Love the video acting work of Barry, nicely underplayed Barry.
Watching these videos is like looking at the sun thru my solar telescope. When looking at the sun, I'm looking at light from 93 million miles away that takes 8 minutes to reach my eyes. It's been awhile since I've been able to post anything. But it's good to see Brady and Josje back in the saddle so to speak.. Glad all is well with your hand Brady,, next time maybe try using the galley to wash your hands?? Lol... Fair winds and following seas my friends..
Bab's had the right idea, you want a shot of whiskey? You know for medicinal reasons. Brady I know how much pain you were in. I got bit by a dog years ago and punctured three joints and my hand looked like hamburger, took nine months to heal. Last time I ever try to separate two dogs fighting, and the dogs were friendly to me before and after the fight. Barry was just doing what he does. Well since this probably happened months ago I'll save the pep talk. Looks like you all did well as crew/injured man, scenario. Well done. Having had near miss on ligaments, Ive had them affected even tho still intact. Playing guitar helps, even on the pick hand as years go by. Later y'all.
I guess what you guys were saying earlier was true, bad idea to feed fish off the back of the boat. Barry thought it was another snack. I bet you'll never forget that lesson :) Glad you're ok.
