Thanks so much. I am using a healthy keto diet with intermittent fasting for insulin resistance and have enjoyed much of the same benefits as your PD patients. That being better mental clarity, weight loss, better bladder function, better moods, increased energy, less fatigue, better sleep, less inflammation (source of aches and pains), improved physical activities and loss of food cravings. I am excited for others to discover this wonderful way to eat/live and the freedom it brings.

I have PD and just came off a 7-day water fast. I did this primarily to lose weight and to get on the right track which is to include a keto diet and intermittent fasting. I only came across your video on my 6th day of fasting which was yesterday. During my water fast I experienced an increase in mind clarity, a weight loss of about 10-12 pounds, moderate ketone level confirmed by test strip, and a decrease in hand tremors-according to my wife. Negative effects included slight dehydration, so I increased water intake with pink salt, and slight keto-flu symptoms on day 3. Otherwise i felt great.

I appreciate Dr. Phillip's work with patients with PD. I just completed a field research study on using the ketogenic diet in patients with Parkinson's Disease based largely on Dr. Phillip's study in New Zealand in 2018. My study is pending publication. The preliminary results show substantial improvements in my 16 participants on non-motor PD symptoms, all biomarkers, and anxiety. This was within 12 weeks. It took 24 weeks for patients to experience improvements in symptoms of depression. Of course all lost weight, all improved quality of life, most improved sleep quality, all improved glucose levels and HgA1c. Thank you Dr Phillips for your work!

      1) you can add more fat. If you eat more fat than you burn than you will gain weight. You can add coconut fat in your coffee for instance ( search for Bullet proof coffee for the recipe).
      2) some fish and meat has MUCH more fat then other fish and meat.

Thank you for an excellent presentation of your Paper.
We have been following the same sort of protocol with regard to my wife's Altzheimer's disease and pre diabetes. I was also almost pre diabetic. Our metabolisms are similar, but different.
We have both reversed our pre-diabetes. My wife's circulatory system has improved considerably. BP, cardiac function, peripheral circulation. Her autonomic symptoms are also beginning to improve.
We have been having a ketogenic diet and also combining that with Intermittent Fasting for about 48 hours once a week. The effects of fasting seem to me to be particularly helpful, since it introduces the process of Autophagy into the equation. The ketogenic diet and Fat Adaptation are extremely beneficial in facilitating Intermittent Fasting.
The process has taken some time to reach our achievements so far, and I look forward to further improvements...
I hope that your continuing studies confirm your initial findings...I feel sure that they will, and that many other important diseases of Civilisation will have been helped along the way...

If I were you I would go for intermittent fasting instead of 48 hours. My experience I went for IF of 18 hours - I skeep breakfast and only eat lunch and dinner - no eating between lunch and dinner. This reversed my diabetes I had for the last 20 years. This is my second year I am not taking any diabetes, bp medecines.

Re: mitochondrial function, Near infra red light exposure is apparently key to helping to add melatonin to the cytoplasm in the mitochondria. It is a super antioxidant, necessary for clearing reactive oxygen species produced during the energy production of ATP. NIR part of the spectrum passes light through lite clothing, through skin, through skull bone, and into cortex of brain, where it does its trick helping the mitochondria rich brain function better. You can tell when you are getting the right NIR light because it is the source of the warmth on skin when in the sun. Our low e window glass, our sunscreen, and no longer having incandescent bulbs, leave our indoor time less able to pick up any NIR. Interestingly, campfire light, that evolved around for many thousand of years, also puts out NIR, just before time to sleep and the start of autophagy in sleep to clean and repair neuron cells.

I’ve had family members who tried the keto diet and couldn’t stay on it for long. They did it to lose weight and they did lose a lot. The temptation to break the diet happens when a person is invited out to dinner since most menus feature carbs. This is why I don’t think this diet works well for most people. It only takes one bite of a cookie or French fries to begin the cravings for more. I’ve never tried going keto because it’s not healthy for chronic kidney disease. I should mention that the pancreas can’t handle all that fat and it can cause GI problems, something all of us could do without. So I see the keto diet as a short term solution only.

Nope. Average life expectancy has nothing to do with aging.
Average life expectancy mainly revolves around high infant and toddler mortality in pre-modern populations.
If you survived to adulthood the main risks were accidents, murder/assault and childbirth. Hunter gatherers who survived these lived to a reasonable old age and elders were generally valued in tribes for their wealth of knowledge.
