- The plaintiff says she met the defendant on a dating app and he owes her money. She’s suing him out of principle. The defendant says the plaintiff stayed with him when she got out of jail, and she agreed to pay him rent. He claims the money she gave him was to cover that.

Who sues someone for $100? Both of these folks sound like petty fools.

I honestly believe she misruled in this case. If it were judge Judy she wouldn’t have gotten anything back. She stayed there for four days using the space shower electricity etc so she has to pay something. Plus I’ve seen her ruled in other cases where she makes them pay the whole rent when they only stayed a few days smh. Ridiculous and this child needs to grow up
Not if they were never given a key (and their room was occupied with furniture and items owned by the person who had the second key). You can't count it as if she moved in, if you never really allowed her to move in before you kicked her out, so he had to give the money back. On the other hand she showed up with a pet, but he could have just said no.
I agree she should get the money back, but honestly I think they are both idiots. I believe she was meant to just be a guest, but because he lied with the whole "I didn't want any money, I just said a random figure when pushed, then I got mad when I got less than the agreed random figure I never wanted in the first place" story, he kinda set himself up for failure. If you accept money for someone to stay at your home, they become a tenant, and we are back to square one. If she was only to pay for groceries while she stayed a little while as a guest, then you broke that agreement when you (rigthfully so) kicked her out, you still have to give the money back.
Again, they are both idiots. I really didn't like her, but she was entitled to get her money back.
So this defendant was fully aware that the plantiff had just gotten out of jail for beating up her former boyfriend and had nowhere to stay, yet he allowed her to move in. Nothing he says matters after that. He knew what he signed up for. Make better decisions men.

It may not be right but I can't say that I blame him for not wanting to give a key to someone that had only paid 1 week rent instead of a full agreed upon month. Huge red flag. If they can't pay you promised rent week 1, it's only going to go downhill moving forward.

????? $100? First of all, never loan someone an amount that you can't afford to not get back. My dad taught me that a LONG time ago when I was a kid. It's why I don't loan people money. Hell, if you're not my mom, then you're not going to get money from me anyway.

I have more issues with her than him. She didn’t pay him the full amount, she came in with a pet that she never told him about, she was just bailed out of jail and seems entitled. I’d definitely say he dodged a bullet.

I’ve never seen someone so unhappy during the ‘ask the audience’ segment. She seemed posted after Harvey’s joke about the date turning up drunk anyway, and then at the end was scowling and standing in a bit of a ‘puffed up’ stance (like how some guys stand after being embarrassed)

@Audiwan Kenobi You say bar hopper like it is a bad thing. I guess it depends on the generation you grew up in. While the judge is only 3 years younger than me, bars, clubs and concerts were the primary places our generation went to socialize and to party. We grew up in the disco age when going out meant bar and club hopping and Happy hours were the thing. It also depends on where you went to college that determined the party scene.
The judge went to the University of Miami undergrad and to Georgetown Law school, both cities and colleges with lots of bars. I used to bar hop in my college days and I don't drink. Never have. But I was the de facto designated driver because of that. I am glad I grew up in that generation. We had fun meeting people, dancing and socializing. Fun times.

The idea of online dating is appealing UNTIL you meet and all the puffery is false. The internet is a great place to be anything BUT real. REAL PEOPLE HAVE REAL RELATIONSHIPS. I’m in my 70’s and widowed. I can not get my head around ‘internet dating’. How do you date an app or icon? Better conversations are had a every office I go or dog show I visit. Perhaps the anonymity and distance encourages boldness. I prefer to see the what’s being advertised. Eye to eye contact is more telling. When meeting others we all ask ‘what can they do for me’ some ask ‘what can I do for you’. Face to face will always be best for establishing a relationship.
There are hundreds of thousand of people who are in real relationships, have real marriages, and realchildren who met on dating sites.... what exactly is your point with this post?
Many meet online and then if things are good they meet in person. The goal is to find a real relationship not stay on the app 24/7 365. Why is this so mind blowing?

It doesn’t matter if you meet in person or on a site; you have to figure them out and their true intentions. If you have a harder time doing that through online dating, then just say that.

She wasn't jailed, either. She was in the lockup and bailed and said it was a situation not to do with her (who knows the truth).
Clearly he knew about the dog, because he said she didn't let it out to go potty and it was running around the apartment a few days.
I have issues with both of them, but she doesn't seem anywhere near as bad as most comments here suggest, and JM clearly agreed, going by her lectures to the defendant and judgement.

I met My husband walking down the hill from the hospital cause I needed to be seen at the emergency room and he was walking up the hill passing out flyers for a pizza shop and we said hi exchanged numbers and met up that night and it was history from there.. got married and July 1st is our 14th wedding anniversary but today April 1st is our 14th dating anniversary .... you can meet people not using the internet.. IT IS POSSIBLE!!!
