Nick's friend wanted more power for his little Dart Swinger, and the car was a beast before the work started on the latest round of upgrades.. Now it has a 426 c.i. stroker under the hood, and more than enough power to break the sticky tires loose. PLUS - Nick shows us around a shop full of classics, including two beauties from the 1950's, and a Kowalski update. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
My dad worked on cars in the driveway when I was growing up. At first buying and selling was an extra way to support family and later it gave him the chance to pay for boats, motorcycles, four wheelers and RVs. He never had a preference for types of cars but he finally settled on a car his dad had, a 1950 Chevrolet Coupe with 1980s brakes, suspension, power. You have incredibly amazing clients. Thank-you to all of them for making Nick work. Without them we would not have this content. Please, can you take money out of the production to buy them coffee and donuts.
Coffee and donuts are the least we can do for the clients. Thanks for recognizing them and their crucial role in making the shop what it is.
This is truly a dream car garage, no need to go to car shows, just go to Nick's garage and enjoy the cars .
Thanks Johnny! You da man.
@@NicksGarage Nick ,got your ears on? This here's donnie baker , i swear to god i am! My friend has a 1972 Pontiac Firebird that he swapped out the 400 Pontiac V8 and GM 400 Turbo Transmission and replaced with a Chrysler 440 and a 747 Chrysler 3 three speed automatic transmission ...and Nick the only mod was refabricating the transmission crossmember and that's it. The stock motor mounts on the 440 engine block set down in place on the front clip of the Firebird it's like they planned it that way. And of course we're low-budget little credit low class better than no class so he found a set of headers from something and modified one of the header tubes so I cleared the steering box ...now all we need is one of those big Firebird hood decal with the roadrunners head on it. Build it and we will come Nick ..oh yeah he used a Ford 9-inch rear end too but of course that's pretty much a trivial thing. And back in the 70s there was a shaker hood scoop air cleaner fastened to the carburetor on Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.. that was pretty much the same area and size you found on the Dodge Challenger of 1971 with a 440 6-pack and here in Indianapolis Indiana we have a place called Indy heads that specialize in Mopar and brand new 440 six pack intake , three holly two barrel progressive for restoring Mopar Muscle Cars , and possibly sell for around two grand. So what are you waiting for Nick you and the boys need to build yourselves a flagship to represent your shop of things you can do and another thing if you don't already know like around here are a lot of abandoned motorhomes that were equipped with Chrysler 440 and the heavy-duty 747 transmission with deep transmission pans of 12 or 15 quarts and a lower low gear with a high stall torque converter and that's how my friend came by his 440 with an automatic that was abandoned RV and all of them will have less than a hundred thousand miles on them was maybe ten trips across the USA and that's about it ...my friend's got his down right now restoring the body with a frame-off restoration the engine's down right now with the heads off for inspection and there is no ring wear at the top of the cylinder walls at all...what excites me about a project like this my first job after I got out of Automotive trade school I hired on to a Cadillac Buick and Pontiac dealership in 1970 right at the time when the horsepower muscle cars were at their finest hour ..and the very first car i done a repair on was rebuilding a Muncie 4-speed in a brand new Buick 455 Grand Sport that was a graduation present to one of the local high school kids from his parents. our Cadillac technician took me in under his wing who had a assigned me this new 455 and had the car ready to go next morning and then ask me if I got her all checked out I said yeah..and the old caddy wrench said you forgot to do one more thing..whats that i said ..he say ,li want you to take her out for about a half an hour and hammer it through the gears and see if you can break it !. Seems little rich kids like to blame the caddy wrench to their parents when said punks were not skilled with a clutch and 4 speed gtg cya
@@donniebaker5984 FYI it wasn't a roadrunner on the hood, as that is Plymouth theme. It was a screaming chicken, and very fitting for the gutless late 70s POS. The 440 & torqueflite will be a huge improvement, and sounds like a very interesting build
@@donniebaker5984 A 727 tranny not a 747 Chrysler....

Nick....you are killing me with nostalgia. My dad had a Valiant (That is what it was called here in South Africa) with a slanted inline six when i was a kid in the seventies. Thank you for all the great videos and all the memories you keep alive for us all.
Beautiful 55 New Yorker,
The world need more who do what you do. Keep it up Nick!

That car is amazing!!! The 354 Hemi is the perfect engine for it!!!
My first car was a '71 Dart Swinger. There weren't many changes from '70 to '71. This was like seeing an old friend after a very long time.
First car? Nice start. 👍
Always wanted a dart with a 440. May just do it soon as retirement looms. I have heard the darts don’t handle well with a big block but I’m sure nowadays there are fixes .
70-72 looked the same, only real change was the 72 side marker lights..1973 was ruined, goofy front fascia and bumpers..
@@01trsmar 73 had the same rear bumpers as 71-72.
my first car is a 70 swinger. put a 400 and a 4 speed in it.
I love seeing the extra care and gratitude Nick has when a car comes in. If it is not right He will let the customer know about it even if the Customer didn't notice. Nick will and that's the difference between and Hobby Car collector and A Wannabe My Friends. Rock On Nick!!
I love waking up every Monday morning and watching the videos Nick! Love all the way from Louisiana!
Automotive Guru thanks! Somehow, we keep getting them done!

Hi Nick, Thanks for the latest video. Both cars featured this week have significant memories for me. My Great Grandmother had a Chrysler similar to that one. However, hers was a 58' had a 361 low block in it. My auto shop teacher in 1979'; had three of those cars and many other Chryslers, including Imperials. In auto shop, he had me and two other guys remove and tear down the 354 from his 56' and do a valve job on it. We were honored to work on that wide block. Those heads were heavy, like a Ford FE intake manifold. That Dart is literally my car. I have a Sublime 70 LM23H0R car with torqueflite and factory cruise control 'N88'. I have driven the Dart from San Diego to Spokane several times and it goes through the mountains on I-5 in Northern Ca with the cruise control set at 70 effortlessly. Same dash, same console shifter and factory A/C make the car a great cruiser. The Dart also has rear defog, vacuum trunk release, map light, and fender indicators. Because it is an original California car it has the 'N95' emissions code and 4934S AVS carb. The exhaust tips bend down in back because exhaust tips 'N42' were not available for noise reduction. A visit to the shop is still on our bucket list and we hope to visit you soon. The Challenger looks great too BTW!!
Erick. Tight emissions in California even back then.
Nick Panaritis You are correct as usual sir. California also had the N97 noise reduction package as well for the 440/6 and Hemi with 4 speed. Long resonators with turn down exhaust.
Nick was enjoying that little green torque monster, I can tell. my brother once had the same dart swinger, but his was brown and had the 340 in it with a 4 speed, man did we have some fun in that car! music playing loud"I can't wait to feel your love" from Van Halen... cruising all over the city
as much as I love 60/70’s Mopars , those two classics from the 50’s were simply magnificent !
My son restored a 55 Chevy and one day he called me shocked because he found lead in the body seams, I told him they did that at the factory so from then on he would call me to ask different things about it...I guess it pays to be older than dirt.
I tried leading panels, form of art, an no, there is no pictures of my failed atempt LOL
Back in 80s we used 1% lead mix I think. Old Leeds factory in Kansas City MO BOP plant
No doubt. Now a days it's hard to find someone who does lead work on auto body another lost art.
Mopars, Harley's friends and a Miniature Pincher all in Nick's shop, what a great Monday. Thanks Nick!! From Livonia NY
That’s Rudy the min-pin.
was working on my house, youtube was on auto play, AND ,,,,, nick's garage started playing, stopped working on the house, grabbed a yuenling, and went for a joy ride with nick and the camera man, nothing better except sunday morning, coffee and nick's garage,

That Chrysler is absolutely amazing. I can only imagine how many people would love the park that car in their garage. I sure would.
@Racer D>> When I tale my britches off I got horn just like that New Yorker... No wonder all the broads still wanna blow my big Chrysler horn huh...
screw the garage, ill park the wife there and that new yorker in the bed room, ill sleep under it and fall asleep counting hemi's jumping a fence
Really nice-sounding stroked LA block in that little Swinger. Great job with that engine, Nick! Really enjoy your videos... I wait each Monday for the new ones. Hang in there and Keep the Faith!
I went to an old school wrecking yard and found a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Hood Ornament.....I picked it up and said "its lost its way...flew right off the hood...lol" I bought it for 55 bucks (no joke) and keep it "mounted" on the wall by my desk in the shop. Every time a hot rod or muscle car comes threw with a missing hood ornament, I play around by putting it on the hood......always good for a laugh and a "dude, I want that!" ...nope, its done its time in the yard and it has a home, right here with me. :) Nice to see one on the right hood!
this 1955 Chrysler New Yorker is outta this world, thank you, Nick, for showing this lady to us all.
A Very good episode!!! Great variety!!! 70's muscle cars, 60's muscle cars, and those beautiful 50's cars!!! Classic Harley's!!! That '51 Olds was very nice, and that AWESOME '55 Chysler with the 354 Hemi was just AMAZING!!! Nick has a great thing going at this shop, and the employees and customers that are there get their brush with fame... What makes this show so interesting, are the Amazing Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Engines, Dyno-Tests, Restoration Techniques, Burnouts!!! It also is nice to hear from the viewers with the 'MAIL' sections on many of his shows... Great program!!!
Michael. Thank you for your kind comment Michael.
That is one of the nicest unrestored cars I've seen That steering wheel and dash is amazing.
4:41 that 1980 T/A from factory and stock is the definition of "ALL SHOW, NO GO". Softer than butter.
I had a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am with a 6.6 liter 400 engine. It only made 190hp! I now own a Mustang V-6 with 300hp. The Mustang would drive circles around that V-8.
A Stanton1966 I was fortunate and mine had a Z block in it and made 220😂
So, who was doing more in 1980? The EPA had everything neutered.
1955 chrysler probably had the 354 cubic inch engine . Incidently, many dragster owners opted for the 354 heads because they had a straighter shot down the intake runner into the combustion chamber, whereas the 392 had a hump/short turn radius which the fuel air mixture had to go around before it went down into the cylinder . Gorgeous car !!!!
W0W...WOW...W0W....To much good stuff to talk about here....I have looked at a lot of car stuff video's....This is the very best car stuff video l have ever looked by far, anyone would agree to that....You need a TV show....Send this video to some TV guys, thay will agree....Big $$$$$ in this kind of video.....Your camera guy is the best l have ever seen.....How does edit out the camera pole..????...My gosh Nick the world need's to see this.....Thanks so very much...!

I grew up as a teenager in Georgia in the late 70s and loved and still love mopars. I had a mustang but had friends with mopars . Nick is an amazing guy I wish I could meet him
a winner of a very well done video,I like that old Chrysler,my Uncle had one from the 50s,but I do not remember the year, and the Kowalski Challenger is getting there, and man driving that Dart swinger looks and sounds great, thanx Dr. Nick.
My first car was a 1954 Pontiac Super-Chieftan. That car weighed about 5000 lbs and was so solid it would kill any modern car that ran into it and then drive away. Flat-head straight 8, it had a "tow package" as mom called it, for a trailer with a 3 speed automatic. What a great first car...
every week i see a car at Nick's and think..damn..i want that one..then the next video i see another car i would want...oh the humanity...on and on...thanks for showing these beauties..
Thanks for watching.
I had a 1978 Chrysler Cordoba that had the Canadian maple leaf sticker on it denoting the car being assembled in Windsor, Ontario. The car was sold new in New York state and the owner moved to the state of Georgia, United States. I bought the car from him in 1993 and enjoyed it for many years. It had the 360 cu. in engine with Leanburn.
Such a great video! Thank you Nick and crew for all your work making these great videos and building these great old cars!
The 1955 New Yorker is like a time capsule, looks like it came out of the factory yesterday. Beautiful car, so is the 1951 Chev. . Thank you for showing us these beautiful cars.
Three of my favourite Mopars in Nick's garage on the same day. 😊
That New Yorker is really unique and very beautiful.
Thanks Nick!
The appropriate tune for this Dodge Dart Swinger Clutch-Spacegrass. Nick you got great cars, love the '51 & '55

Love watching Nick, just a great attitude, & always interesting, thanks, great video
Love the Swinger, stroking the small block was good idea. I've seen guys put a big block in those A body Mopars. But they're a beast to handle with the extra weight up front.
use a mitchell alu block 400 or 440 with alu heads and such , small block weight and big block power
I have a 72 and can’t wait to get it in the road. I have a built 360 for it also
Nick, you are....
HARD CORE!!!
I wish I could hit that LIKE button ten times per video! WOW! IMPRESSIVE
GREAT CAMERA AND EDITING WORK!!!!! the "bug eye" effect is fun! Thanks for another great video........
As Nick says when opening and closing the door on the '55 Chrysler, WOW,, did you notice the sound when the door closed, that solid metalic "whump" sound,, WoW!
Awesome Nick and crew Beautiful Mopars in the house
I was born in 1951 and remember seeing cars like this driving down the streets of Chicago. With the big chrome rear bumpers on these cars, we would crouch down and hold onto the bumper and let the car drag us down the snow-packed streets on the soles of our boots.
I like the black bike with the Springer front end and the pipes but the green custom ape hanger handlebars are cool they are nice bikes for sure
I know you need to test drive each car to ensure all is well. What an ultimate reward at the end of each job to be able to drive each of theses wonderful cars. Thanks again for the passion you build into each of your Jobs. Little Aussie Follower ....
55 new Yorker excellent condition.. Art valuable.. Condition is fantastic.. Never restore do not touch. Solid Nick solid
I think I'm falling in love with that '55!
Understandable.
Hey Nick, just wanted to let you know i finally got to see one of your videos that was not to old. Thank you for these righteous videos. Hope to see more. Your friend Papadt.
Yo Nick, that Hemi should be a 331 or 354ci unit.....same base as a 300 Letter car.......the true first musclecar.
As a side note, the Hudson Hornet with Twin H Power is usually the one people forget about when it comes to muscle, having dominated Nascar in its early days, but the Chrysler 300 truly started the genre
Right on.
Exactly. First true muscle car
In 1958, a Chrysler 300-D set a land speed record at Bonneville at 156.387 mph
What happened between now and then?
@@DeliciousDeBlair Well, long story short, two corporate takeovers, the lack of vision and a shrinking pool of people that can afford the cars. After Daimler took over Chrysler, the true flavor of Mopar was taken away, and FCA did another hit on the brand. Mopar was always synonymous with innovation and risk taking, but also poor quality control when it came to certain things ( can you say corrosion control....I knew you could ) and poor marketing. But despite that, Mopar was usually first to something, especially in setting records.
@@hoost3056 One of the other legendary problems besides rust [an inherent plague of all unitized vehicles not made out of something like stainless steel] is a notoriously short lifespan of the steering linkages.
I have replaced the steering linkages from side to side on 13 MOPARS in my life and I was not even a shop owner back then.
Mornin nick..I envy you..you get to drive all these beautiful classics..the perks of the job..lol..have a good day nick!

Love the late 60s early 70s Dart GTs, GTS-GSS's!!! She gets up and goes beautifully now thanks to y'all!
The doors on those oldies close like brand new! It's wonderful to see how those guys really take great care of their babies, that's for sure! What's better than racing spectacular muscle cars on a lovely summer day?!? Kowalski is sure getting a phenomenal detailed restoration without a doubt! She'll be on the road before we know it! I remember as a young man back in the 80s coming off the highway one day and there was a Tor-red 70 Challenger R/T in front of me at the light at the end of the off ramp. He turned left and although he barely tapped the gas just enough to get out down the road, man she just lit up both tires up in posi effortlessly!!! What a beautiful ride!!! I never caught up to the guy to see the engine call outs on the hood or hopefully chat with him about his baby, but boy was that really a remarkable moment and you could tell she truly was in concourse condition! Mind you the beast was barely 15 years old at the time, but still, there were plenty of other muscle cars on the road that same age that looked like some of the Madd Maxx beaters out there that looked as if they'd somehow survived a world war or even 2 sometimes,i mean some real jalopys!!! Lol! Fortunately there are plenty of people who had the foresight to cherish and baby our beautys so there's still plenty in great shape around til this very day, kudos for them taking great liberties saving our heritage in the forms of great muscle and cruising classics. And to Nick and his crew of family and friends who've gathered and learned through lifes experiences and efforts how to keep them on the roads and looking and running great!!! Thanks again to all y'all!!!! ▪☆☆☆▪

Cars cost money back in the 1950's even after the war, people were raised from the farm. They had the mentality to save and try to live frugally, war time measures brought the idea that any thing made was built to last. Fridges had big compressors ,stove washing machines, dryers had motors and components made to last for years. If it was built to last,it made replacement parts and turn over longer so people didn't work at repairing or making replacement parts. Corporations needed to built more complicated systems and flimsier components. This is why you see older cars lasting longer and being fixed by local mechanics.
Beautiful cars original are best, all in good hands with Nick.
You live in a world of "cool".
Wonderful cars and bikes.
As always, a great video.
Texas--out.
It's incredible to think that back in the day when they were building these cars they had NO idea that these would become icons of the automotive world and worth tons of money. To them, they were just another car rolling off the assembly line.
