    Growing up(back in the 80's), my buddy had a 76 Dart (standard version) that we kinda fixed up with a bit of bondo and spray paint. No it wasn't anything of quality but it made the rounds cruising the town. And for a couple of teens it got us in a lot of parties 🎉

    • @TheREALOC1972
      @TheREALOC1972 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought one in 2004 when I came back from Iraq for $1200, mine had a 318 also but it was a 4 door though but I didn't mind. I just wanted something to ticker on and take the wife and kids to cruises and car shows on the weekend. it was green on green on green. It was in phenomial shape when I bought it I didn't have to much to it. cleaned and rebuilt the carb and basically cleaned it up, painted everything that was supposed to be black black again repainted the block corporate blue, and the intake and valve covers silver and of course new gaskets all around. It was a great little car, I even took it to San Antonio from Central Missouri for a Army leadership course, AM radio only on the way down but I fixed that quickly while I was in San Antonio, went bought a cheap little AM/FM Radio and cd player while I was there because just having an Am radio I didn't get a damn thing on the radio for most of the drive and 14 hours in almost complete silence sucked. Got divorced in 2007 but I kept that car until 2014 because I loved it so much.

    Please no stupid ugly chrome wheels or billet steering wheel with the rim covered in an ugly color leather. It's a shame you do that to every car as the cars you build are sweet up to that point

    • @TheREALOC1972
      @TheREALOC1972 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree with the chrome rims but everything else is spot on. I'm hoping they build this car into a classic Daily driver/Cruise-in/Local car show car. people by the overwhelming majority don't have a 50-60k to sink into a car, but they have 8k-10k to build a daily driver/local car show car. that's what they should do with this car just to show people it can still be done with little money. they should get it running good, fix what needs fixing, clean it all up, body work it and throw a cheap but decent paint job on it then throw some Thrust torque or Enkei 72 wheels on it.

    In 1972 my parents purchased a new Dodge Darts Swinger Special. It had a 225 CID slant six, a three on the tree, manual brakes, manual steering, and no A/C. The only thing it did have was an AM radio with a single dash speaker. It was the car I took my driving test in and that three point turn was a beast with manual steering. I had to use five points to turn, but I still passed!

      I agree with the "boring 350 Chevy" build but there's a reason people do them by the dozens, they made the 350 for 50 years and never really changed much, there's millions upon millions of them which means they are dirt cheap, the 350 gives you the best bang for your buck.

I daily drive a 73 Buick Regal that I bought for $1200 right after I got here and drove it home and then put another 5 k ish into, I just bought a 76 Cutlass for $2200 That I'm going to build into a weekend car.

    Minor point, but brake shoes are not about momentum, but leverage. Assumimg a top anchor pin, the front shoe drives the rear into position during forward braking - rear shoe does most the braking, so it must have more surface. If the pin was on bottom [I think some pre war cars tried that], its the exact opposite: rear shoe drives the front, which would put the bigger shoe there.

    9:03 For those watching-reuse the original locking ring whenever possible. They're a _much_ better fit than any aftermarket rings.

    I had the same car when I was 20yrs old. Would love to have another. Let me know if it's for sale. Great simple work to revive it and put it back k on the road. It's a keeper.

    Can you look at the old tank and see if there was a sock filter on the line. Dodge said it didn't but mine was about 3" long.
