@@BraindeadBreakdown Quoted from Rolling Stone:- Though the band had formed a personal and creative bond with Rollins while opening for the Rollins Band during a 1992 tour, Keenan - who is known to occasionally embroider a story to make it more interesting - told the magazine that Rollins’ presence was motivated not by a sense of artistic kinship, but rather as payback for a poker debt. “He had a gambling debt for a while with us,” Keenan claimed. “He’s kind of a bad poker player. He lost a lot of money … like $3,000. Turns out he was losing the T-shirt money. He was borrowing from the merchandiser to play poker with us and he’s really bad at bluffing. So we pretty much nailed him, and that’s actually how we got him to play on the album.”
Tool has been one of my all time favorite bands. Been listening to them since the 90s. They're just unique and Maynard's voice is awesome. He has another band called A Perfect Circle. When you're done with Tool Tuesday you should do Mandatory Maynard Mondays 😅. And go through his other bands music. BTW, haven't commented in a while, been kunda busy. But glad to see you doing well. And I'm finally getting to see Sleep Token 🎉😂😍 I'm going to see them Monday. I can't wait. Til next time ✌️
This is my absolute "Go-to" when life falls apart. Hundreds, if not THOUSANDS, of painful evenings were spent driving around with this pushing 3 x 10" Infinity Kappas to the point of destruction. Life is hard... It's even harder when you're a stupid alcoholic. "Guilt keeps me alive at the bottom."
There are live recordings on TH-cam of Tool performing this with OTHER guest singers doing their own spoken word poetry. I highly recommend BOTH performances with Angelo Moore from Fishbone. (I recommend Fishbone also.) Other fans may know of Zach de la Rocha's performances as well. Bottom kicks ass (npi).
No suprise that Tool isn't everyone's cup of tea or else one four music wouldn't be a thing. If you track their catalog, you will find that they mature perfectly. We probably will not have anymore from them as they just now finished the fear inoculum tour. Tool forever!
The spoken word portion is by the famous Henry Rollins (Black Flag)
Thank you, I thought I recognised the voice! Turns out I am more used to hearing him yelling 🤣

The whole undowtow album pretty damn good. Hoping you go back and listen to "Jerk Off" from the EP too.
