When he died , I felt like a member of my family died. I loved him so much. I grew up with his movies. ❤️

This film is one of the Best! Very moving. It reaches the soul. Both DeNiro and Williams deserved Oscars for their performances, and by bringing out the heart and compassion of people to the forefront. I laughed; I cried; I was happy; I was angry. I balled my eyes out when Leonard, after a second chance in life, he KNEW he was going to lose his battle once again, and no one could stop it from happening.

I really adore this marvelous film. Robin Williams was great and finally Robert De Niro showed not typical for him acting - yes, he was stunning. Other least famous actors/actresses were even more impressive. This film deserved at least 8 Oscars! Of course I expected happy end but it was based on true events so it was impossible from the beginning.
Anyway I recommend this film to everyone
He was amazing in Awakenings. Garp, too.
A great film and story that might carry clues to the secrets of aging!

it is hard to loose someone that gives a moment of happiness or make you smile in a sad moment. Though not in person, this man gave me a lot happy moment through my life and brought a smile in bad moments. Say hi to your friend Sherry when you get there. RIP

I once wrote a paper using a scene from this movie to describe what a stuttering block looked like.
"funny, serious...then I try to play a female part every few years."
Funny how that would come true a couple of years later.
I agree with what you say that the film deserved many Oscars, but De Niro's performance was truly the heart and soul of this film. It's probably one of the best performances he's ever done. But don't lessen his previous work. The man is a brilliant actor, and this is only one of his brilliant performances

God its painful watching Robin so uncomfortable-- Jimmy is clearly irritating him with his little interjections and off-putting questions.
