    Now that we have hindsight, would your boat situation had been "easier" to deal with if you were nearer to Florida (based in the Bahamas)? In other words, and maybe this isn't an option, but would you be able to tow your boat to Florida and get it fixed with less cost/hassle than down there in the BVI/AVI? I see that Marine Max is there, but do they have the facilities to fix hull damage and engine issues there? I hope so!!! I've always wondered what the risk is taking your boat far away from the US coast when maintenance issues arise, let alone major issues like the ones you are tackling now. Looking forward to an update, and wish you only the very best.

      Hi Capt Matt here. We crossed the Mona beginning about 12:00 PM for an arrival in Puerto Real at 7:00 PM. The entire trip was uncharacteristically mild! Very little wind driven waves, just ocean swells. I know there is a lot of discussion about the Mona Passage being fierce. It can be, when its northerly current opposes a North wind waves can stake up. Of all the trips from TCI to PR I've found the Mona to many times be better than the open ocean. As you approach the Mona you get in the wind shadow of PR and it gives you a break from the trades.

      Because the BVI is the sailing capital of the world! Over 60+ islands and Cays. Breathtaking views, diving, beaches! Be sure to visit the baths in Virgin Gorda and make sure take the excursion to the northernmost island of Anegada and enjoy the world famous Anegada Lobster! Great video!

    My husband is a production guy. "This does not suck," is unquestionably my least favorite phrase. Ever. I understand it, of course, I just hate that phrase. That said, your production quality is outstanding and I hope that other TH-camrs pay attention to your equipment list, and stop trying to "create" on their iPhones. That quality DOES suck. Oh, and they need to hold the camera steady and pan slowly. Thanks for the great visuals.

      Hah. My wife’s not a fan either but I think it sums the feeling up perfectly. Just like our marriage…perfect imperfection. Thanks so much for watching

      Yachting is a hard working man’s hobby. I came from NOTHING. Divorced parents…alcoholic dad…no education…mom couldn’t afford it. I did this all myself. Thru incredibly hard work and sweat. Yup I’m rich now…but that’s not a hobby….that’s a HARD working lifestyle. Thanks for watching

    This is the biggest load of horse hockey ive seen... Your boat is the biggest cost your will ever see... Fuel and transport from one place to the other is nothing ... Smiles per gallon is the cost and the best...

    Thank you Allen for sharing the amount of expenses to move the boat. Wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing a ballpark figure for things like insurance, maintenance, etc? I would like to have a boat to live aboard full time but the wife says we can’t afford the insurance. Our current property taxes on the house are 10k a year. Would that cover the annual insurance? Thanks

    • @thewanderinghillbilly
      @thewanderinghillbilly  ปีที่แล้ว

      It would not. Depends on where you keep the boat. A boat this size will command anywhere from 15k to 35k annually for insurance. Thanks for watching!
